- 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Left Front Motor Mount Removal
You are suppose to remove the upper intake manifold and install a mount to lift the motor. But I didn't have one so I improvise. This Jeep has a plastic oil pan so you can not lift it from there.
This video was made as a demonstration on how to repair things and should not be done with out the proper training and safety equipment. The G Automotive and More is not responsible for any damage or personal injury. Please if you don't have the ability to do these demonstrations, don't try and get a professional to do it for you. - Авто/Мото
Other videos show if you are doing both to use a floor jack and a block of wood and raise it from the crank in the front.
Bolt to remove the air cleaner assembly at the intake is a 10mm. Screw clamps are 8mm.
Thanks for the video. Very helpful (always nice to have the luxury to watch someone else make the mistakes first 😁 )
And yes, the water pump is secured very well - 11 bolts mounted to the engine (5 are 6"). I've changed it twice.
No mistakes just learning as you go. Thanks for watching
Mine is in the dealer now for a 2nd set... First set went out at 160,000 miles.. next one last week at 195,000 miles. Thank god for MaxCare. Cost me $100 to repair. Looks like a PITA to do.
I did this, thank you very much
Had trouble lining up the mount since I don’t count with a lift but I got it done
That 5.7l hemi sounds just like my 5.7l when you started. It’s a loud slap when cold start then goes away I’m thinking it’s a manifold leak
Motor mounts on my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit w/Hemi are shot. I don't have the tools to do what you did, but wanted to let you know that my mechanic charged me $420 to replace them both. In Phoenix AZ metro. Also, seems to me that the motor mounts should have lasted a bit longer, don't you think? 80K miles.
This one had 100k on it. I would say to much torque and the left side takes most of the punishment. Thanks for watching
Here I go...86K, 2014 Summit like yours. I have a good mechanic but am bracing myself......no pun intended.
Thanks mate,very helpful.
Thanks for watching
It was really helpful, thanks a lot
Thanks very much. Excellent 📹
Great video man! I’d like to know where I can locate the crankshaft position sensor
Right rear side of engine block. Have to get it from under the car. Thanks for watching
How high did you have to raise the motor for it to fall out??
the same 3 to 4 inches. Thanks for watching both videos.
Sounds like you need to do manifold studs
Yep there are leaking. Thanks for watching
How do you know if they are bad? I'm new to Jeep sorry if this sounds dumb. Thanks
@@beardedtoolreviews7185 If the left motor mount is bad after you back up, put it in forward gear and hit the gas a little hard the motor will jump up and make a banging noise.
How much would it cost to change both mounts with installation? My dealership is asking for 1200 dollars.
Sounds right
Still not sure where to jack up the motor when doing the passenger side. 😢
Sorry I do not know either.
Did you end up having to loosen the bolt on the opposite mount to raise the engine?
No
If you replace the left one. Please make a video! I believe both of mine are shot 🤦🏾♂️
Ok but the drivers side seam to be the one that brakes all the time. Thanks for watching
zombiesmeal I replaced both of mines last week it was difficult at first to do the left side but I got it done! You can jack the engine up from the transmission where it bolts up to the engine as much as you can without the manifold touching the frame then you have to unbolt the engine mount bracket from the engine and the mount from the mount bracket and get the bracket off first then you should be able to slide the old one out and put the new one in then put the bracket back on .. took me about 1 hour to do the left side and 30 to do the right just be patient!
@@TheGAutomotiveAndMore Thanks for posting this. Yes driver side goes out first because of the torque, but it severely strains the other one when it lets go.
@@jorgehernandez6740 Awesome! Was quoted 6 hours labor to do it, so I am going to do it myself!
What model and brand of under hoist jack did you use? I have one but the screw part does not extent up far enough, yours looks way better...
Its a Challenger lift model E10 and I have the 2 different foot extensions. Thanks for watching
@@TheGAutomotiveAndMore Sorry I meant the jack used to lift the engine...
@@LTM147 It is a very old, I would guess 1970ish and has no name on it. Sorry
Dealer just said they see fluid coming from mine. Stated they are fluid filled, or something. They want $1700. I feel as if they just want to recoup the COVID-era revenue they’ve lost recently.
Yes they are oil filled. I would get another estimate for a different shop. Thanks for watching
@@TheGAutomotiveAndMore thanks for the reply! I really appreciate you putting out that video.
Probably should have replaced both. The old one will now be under more stress and likely fail sooner rather than later
Right side one is compressed when going forward. Will last twice as long as left side. Thanks for watching
