lowbudget ethiopian this song is speaking on how many people in the black community are in denial and don’t even know where they really come from. Many are sleep to the issues that “don’t concern them.” Many don’t know who they really are. We are cheated of our history and our power and sold too short.
That would be a 💣 album! The way they balance each other out on tracks. They've made similar songs before (formation/Alright) and their collabo (Freedom) was great. Dare I say, it could potentially be better than Everything is Love.

it reminds me of the liturgical chants heard in the various rites in use in the catholic/orthodox churches. Kendrick in particular sounds like a chanting priest celebrating Mass.

Beyoncé and Kendrick always kill it together 😜☄️💥🔥 The only problem with this song is that it’s short😭 I’m about to dive in the Nile with no safety jacket
People complaining about the length everything about this album is intentional the artists involved, the songs that reflect the movie’s themes etc. I think part of the reason why it’s so short is think about the context it’s just after Simba has fled the kingdom wracked with guilt thinking he had caused his father’s death. He runs for through the savanna for God knows how long he passes out which is how Timon and Pumba find him. He is literally in limbo between life and death. Beyoncé says in the making of the album the song is sort of like your life flashing before your eyes before you die. Ita not a huge long epic moment it’s quick, it’s intense it’s a arguably even a spiritual experience. It’s Simba’s experience as he’s in that place emotionally as well as physically. There’s only so much he can do. On a grander scale the theme of being deep in denial that they cleverly interchange with “the nile” is a temporary pit stop. Like the moment you hear bad news you can only be in denial for so long it will catch up with you. You can try to AVOID thinking about it through multiple means food, sex, alcohol or in Simba’s case adopting the hakuna Matata lifestyle. But you can’t deny reality. It’s actually pretty cleverly done. Also Beyoncé and Kendrick work so well together because they both are incredibly deep thinkers. Watch either being interviewed they are not just musicians chasing money or fame they are artists that are trying to speak to the human experience through their work. It doesn’t surprise me that their track is the most introspective on the album.
I haven't listened to this song yet, this album is TOO MUCH SLAYAGE to take in at once! Im stuck & obsessed w Already, Otherside, Scar, Bigger, Spirit, My Power...Ill be back after I take those songs off repeat!
Yeah it's the voice. Tone is totally different, but his voice on this sounds like his older works, which brings back a lot. His new works are good but How to Pimp a Butterfly and afterwards his voice switched up a bit. Not a bad thing, I might add. I'm glad he gives up different sounds. It shows us how versatile he is and shows us he still has stuff hidden away.
The part “hey little buddy where you goin...... “ sooooo smooth 🌊
I been playing this on replay I swear it’s smooth

@Shadow yes bitch df
Frrrrr
I KNOW THAT'S RIGHT
MENTIONED
Kendrick and Beyoncé just go together their vibe is so immaculate they sound so good together .
“Darker the berry, sweeter the fruit.. deeper the wounded, deeper the roots” ! Sooo fire! Ugh! Why’s this sound so short ?! 😭🙌🏾✨✨ #Beyhive
The "darker the berry" part is probably a nod to Kendricks song Blacker the Berry from his To Pimp a Butterfly album
Raquel A which is a direct connection to tupac i’m not sure what exact song but i know that verse anywhere
Victoria Julian keep ur head up but its just a black saying overall
Isn’t that from Tupac
Come on y’all, it’s “Keep Ya Head Up”🤦🏽♂️ don’t be culturally clueless😫
Those Harmonies at the end of the song in the background 😍😍😍
BMAJORR you gotta be a musician because that was one of the first things that caught my attention. Joint sounded so surreal 🔥
Yeesss, it just sounds so magical. I just wish this song was longer or extended especially with those harmonies in it
💯👌🏿😭✨🎶👑🐝😍💖

Word and you also hear "I'm in the now" if you listen to the vowels. The presence (present) of self is "the gift"!
Lil Uzi did that not nothin new

Guys it’s short because it’s supposed to feel like the drifting part before passing. It represents life won’t last for ever.
It's short because it is used as a space holder. She has no clue about the Nile.
Nothing in the lyrics makes sense
Which Nile?
Blue Nile
White Nile?
... It doesn't end in the ocean but sea.
And the Nile crosses over 10 East African countries making it the longest river in the world. Why am I telling you this? Because she didn't!! One time I took a swim in the Nile
I swam the whole way, I didn't turn around, man, I swear

Where danger finds me, it follows with tides
Many miles ahead of me, still I'm in stride, she said
Hey little buddy, where you goin'?
I'm not sure of how to know I'm still motion
You seem regular, I seem regular
These streams may take me out to the ocean
Told myself if I dive in it without precaution of a life jacket
Then I'll dive in it 'til I'm exhausted and I'm type lacking
Waistline on four deep, senses on forty
Feel like there's four of me
One time I took a swim in the Nile (one time I took in a swim in the Nile)

Many miles ahead of me, still I'm in stride
That's some good
Got the Nile runnin' through my body
Look at my natural, I'm so exotic
Darker the berry, sweeter the fruit
Deeper the wounded, deeper the roots
Nubian doused in brown, I'm lounging in it
