Oh man.. this moment, i knew Ah Sahm is destined into something much bigger. And S3 didnt disappoint, it adds up to Ah Sahm interpersonal relationship and characterization
Does anyone else notice that Ah Sahm's mural is actually a homage to Bruce Lee. So the mural is In a drama set in the past, featuring a martial arts hero of the future, set in a drama made after the death of the heroic character, set in a fictional drama of now. Also the idea of the drama was proposed by the future dead martial arts hero homaged in the mural. That's odd aint it? But don't you love all the juxtaposing of all those ideas? Just as interesting. Is how the wonderful Andy Koji who plays the heroic figure of Ah Sahm, is of Japanese origin.
There is no time like the present when you need to do something. I considered who would create such a mural just after a major orgy of violence. I imagine only a young person would have created mural on a battle ground. As you know, mainly young folk go against prissy established, but outdated norns . Old folk would be pottering around mumbling, "Oh dear me, one just can't create a mural of a wonderful hero so soon after a racially motivated violent battle." Young people are like "F..k that! just give me some paint and a ladder. There's no time like the present time for hero worship muthaf....r"😮😊😀
Ah Sahm's a bad ass no doubt, but personally he'd kinda a douche. His arrogance forced his sister to marry a warlord who raped her. She escapes to the U.S. and he follows to bring her back. After she makes it clear she won't return (and why should she? She's made a life for herself despite him), what does he do? He joins her enemies, and stays with them despite multiple chances to leave. Hell, he holds a grudge from his fight with Li Yong, saying she tried to kill him when she begged him not to go through with the fight. His thoughtless actions forced her to marry a monster, and now he's actively trying to destroy her life. And its not as if he's that loyal to Young Jun. His buddy has barely had a chance to settle in before Ah Sahm's debating replacing him as leader. Finally, whupping Leary's ass might have done more harm than good, as he's the stand-in for the labor leader who got the Chinese exclusion act passed. Danny Rand, Sunny and Ah Sahm. I guess being a master of kung fu requires a degree in social douchebaggery?
I think he’ll get progressively wiser, as it was always Bruce Lee’s intention to showcase a story of a talented but hotheaded martial artist adjusting to America
