I have kinda a weird story about the non-monogamous parents thing. My parents married each other when they were really young and didn't really know themselves. Fast forward a few years and a few kids later they both started suspecting they were gay and gave each other permission to fool around with people of the same sex. Turns out they are indeed both gay! I just learned about this from my dad not that long ago and it honestly wasn't even weird, but then again, with my super weird family, super weird things seem super normal to me.
Hannah Warden I had a similar kind of thing with my parents when I was in high school. My father had a mental illness that the drugs and medication from all but erased any of ‘that appetite’ as my mom would say. And so he wanted her to be happy and gave her permission to have a boyfriend discreetly. I mean, it was a little hard for me to deal with knowing and finding out about at young age, but it made both of them happy and kept a marriage together for nearly 30 years now.

So, my siblings and I recently discovered our mother and father would have "key parties" back in the day. We discovered this when my baby sister, little brother, and I did 23 and me... and discovered that one of us was not like the others! My parents were extremely conservative, my mom was a child psychologist who worked for the school district and my father was a minister. When we confronted my mom about this discovery(assuming some illicit affair) we found out that they were swingers throughout the mid 70s into the early 80s!
