The castle looked amazing and the hike did look a bit sketchy. Glad to hear you were being extra careful. Another great video showcasing what looks like a very interesting area! Thank you for sharing.
I hate when people call Gjirokaster and Berat "Ottoman Towns". They aren't Ottoman towns, they are "towns typical of the Ottoman period" Big difference. Even UNESCO manages to make this distinction yet the average Joe somehow can't.
Saying “ottoman” arkitechture is wrong. The ottomans and Turkish do not have any of this architecture in Central Asia from where they came from. This is a typical Mediterranean Illyrian Albanian!
I do the best I can when doing research of the various places that I go. For instance, this is verbage taken directly from the website gjirokäster.org: "While the architecture of the historic buildings in Gjirokastra is indisputably influenced by Ottoman traditions, the old town is itself a product of many elements." Thank you for providing a bit more clarity on the situation. I learn something new every day and there is so much more that I don't know! I appreciate you watching!
which ottoman tradition? turks come from a nomadic tent culture in central asia. they didnt influence other cultures in architecture. except the mosques that they brought to europe.
please donr spread the bs about ottoman style architecture. there is no such thing as ottoman style architecture. berat and gjirokaster are much older than ottoman empire and typical albanian architecture. youtubers are keeping spreading this wrong Information.
RUclipsrs don't just make up information. This is a direct quote from visit-gjirokaster.com and the same language is used on the UNESCO site. "Gjirokastra city is inscribed into UNESCO in 2005 as a rare example of an architectural character typical of the Ottoman period."
@@oldaloneandfarfromhome still doesnt say its ottoman Architecture. where in former ottoman empire you cam find towns like Berat or Gjirokaster? no where else. because its typical albanian architecture.
I love all the color along the streets in the old town area, and the pattern in the cobblestone is beautiful!
It was an amazingly beautiful place. I loved hanging around the Old Town area!

I appreciate that! The castle was incredible. There's another that's coming up in my video about Berat, that could be even more outstanding!
It’s not an ottoman town. This place is 2000 years old before any ottoman ever existed. Ottomans attacked and tried to destroy it.

UNESCO says they are preserved since ottoman times. that doesnt mean its ottoman Architecture but people keep on spreading wrong Information.
