Thank you for putting this up, so many memories from living there as a kid, a lot from my childhood is not there anymore. 15:14 the cignall store, when i lived there as a kid it was a Tandy Electronics. i remember getting a donkey kong handheld system 15:28 down that way the building far up the back is where civic video used to be, they had an arcade in the same building when i was a kid. 16:32 the empty building near the 40km sign used to be a toyworld and around the corner from it was video 2000 16:58 missed kmart, it was just down there, also behind it used to be blockbuster video 17:51 the parking lot with the mural used to have a pizza hut 17:59 the building on the far left used to be a video ezy 26:14 the alice springs plaza used to have a museum upstairs with dinosaurs 28:47 the target used to be a Bi-Lo
Hi Conner. Thanks for taking time to timestamp and share some history in Alice Spring. Happy to know that even in a "remote" town, there are memories of the place. It's people like you that keep a place "alive". =) Take care Conner and stay safe in these uncertain times
Agreed! Thanks for the upload! I was born and lived in Alice until I was 14. I noticed that all the chemist pharmacies there are all still in the same places as they used to be! Alice Springs Plaza/Ford Plaza definitely looks very different now, without the fountain with the goldfish that people used to throw coins into. This video bought back many fond memories
I spent a couple of nights there back in September 2019 on my way to and from the rock. It seemed quite cosmopolitan, and surprisingly I didn't encounter any problems back then. A tiny place, although some locals think Alice Springs is a big city.
A former colleague of mine is Australian, once asked him what Alice Springs was famous for. His answer was perfectly Australian, "being f***in hot mate!" 😂 He's a top lad!
Hi fellow Discoverers. This is Alan from Discovery Walking Tours TV. I recently made a road trip to amazing Australia and I am happy to share my footage of the land down under. I used binaural microphones to record the environmental sounds. So if you have a pair of headphones, do use them, it will be quite an immersive experience 😀 If you notice any interesting points in the video or want to ask about something that was caught on camera, comment with a time stamp (eg 00:01) and I will be sure to check it out. I am also interested to know where you are from 😄 so drop a comment below and say hi! Is Alice still a bit dangerous ? Went there back in the 80s after reading the book a town called Alice but very disappointing, drunk bums and crap everywhere on the side of the roads quite an eye opener ! Surely it must be sorted out now ! don’t look to bad . Id like to go back for a visit but I’m hesitant obviously 🤔
I'm researching a novel that takes place in Alice Springs - this walking tour was invaluable to me in getting a feel for the town. Thank you for posting.
I can tell this is old because Uncle eddies is gone and so is Las caslinga on the side of the street. Covid-19 TOOK care of those places they shut down. Also Rocky's has moved to the west side of town. Also the camera house and Sanity shut down in september 2020
Hopefully a local will let you know. Personally I didn't feel "safe" and I'm a male traveller. Best to walk around in a group and don't stay out late into the night.
Great video, but I have one recommendation. Don't move your camera so much left and right. You are doing it constantly and the eyes just hurt because of all that movement. You have a great steadycam and use it. You have a relatively wide angle so almost everything is in frame anyways. Just keep your camera straight and that's it. It's just one complaint, but it's honestly a big one. Just my side of it. But still great video :)
Thanks Deni. I very much appreciate the constructive feedback and I agree with you. There is definitely a tendency for me to try to film "everything" which I will tone down. Will do my best to film straight for future videos 😂 thanks again and I hope there will be other videos in channel that interest you

I Recently saw a trivia question which indicated that 98% of all Australians live within 150 miles of the sea ... and I thought, 'wow, John Jarratt really IS all alone, there, in the middle of the nation/outback, doin' his Mick Taylor Wolf Creek thing!' ;) ... lol but seriously .... it looks like about 23,000 people live in Alice Springs .... and I lmao when I saw that they have a McDonalds ... but in a good way! It's almost impossible to believe that they can 'get' electricity there in the middle of nowhere
They have gas pipelines of the country's national distribution network. It is not like in Chile that we do not have fossil fuels. But we have the highest radiation in the world in the north and the highest winds in the world in the south ✌️
It is fortunate for the native citizens of Australia to be able to take care of and solve problems such as education and society. My country has never been subjected to white rulership, but people are not given the same care from the government like native citizens of Australia.
Is this really Alice Springs? I was doing research and people made it seem like it was horrible and violent and in the middle of nowhere only being surrounded by aboriginal people.

Thank you, some years ago I read a book about Alice Springs. It's good to see the video.
Glad the video managed to provide you some insight on Alice Spring 😊
its small, sunny, and well polished town. everything is taken care off
Have you been there it’s not nice people are scared to leave there house because, they get bashed

I suppose if you live in a town camp because all the money is being spent in the city you would think that Alice was a big place
A former colleague of mine is Australian, once asked him what Alice Springs was famous for. His answer was perfectly Australian, "being f***in hot mate!" 😂 He's a top lad!
That honestly made me lol 😂
It was surprisingly mild when I went there this April.
I would have had a different answer if somebody had of asked me the same question
Great video, thanks Alan for sharing

What tf is a town doing in the middle of the desert
Maybe there are good productive mines in the centre of Australia? Probably why a town is needed then
