Hey the tropical oasis works best without a leave in on wet hair. You can also refresh with the curl refresher from the same line. Hope this helps. Love your hair!
On one side I didn't use leave-in and on the other side I did and it still flaked. Thank you for the tip. I'll try again without any product anywhere and on soaking wet hair.

I have much more success with firm holding gels when I style in the shower so my hair can stay saturated while applying. Only one gel has ever flaked since I started doing that, and believe me, I've tried a plethora of gels! 😂 Have you ever tried to style wash and go in the shower? Your hair is stunning!
Nice! I'm going to try it again on soaking wet hair as you suggested. And thank you. I think I have once upon a time tried styling in the shower. We shall see😁
So I feel like I have the short version of your hair we have a similar hair pattern and characteristic, soaking wet hair, ehhh I wouldn’t say is the answer because filling the hair with water just for elongation when adding a product won’t help if the water is diluting the hold in tandem. You’d have to compensate by using more product. Your answer is small sections. Yes small sections the width or similar to your hair pattern and adding the hair gel in those sections then going behind the smoothing with your hands with a shampoo detangling comb, that will smooth the cuticle and allow you to gather all your strands in the same direction for less frizz. I always like to add a coil at the end to lock the curl since my curl pattern is more S shaped and doesn’t really coil on the ends.
