Not your mothers curl talk sculpting gel is also great in humidity! I used it the other day on a super humid day and was shocked how good my hair looked after a walk! Glycerin is one of the top ingredients fyi but my hair doesn’t mind Glycerin Cake Curl Whip and Herbal Essence Body Mousse (orange can) are also great strong hold mousses! I typically prefer mousse over gel and these have the hardest hold from any mousse I’ve ever tried.
I live in South Carolina (very humid climate) and the Jessicurl products have been my holy grail.....My type 2C curls stay in place for at least 4-5 days....I have tried a bunch of other products in high humidity and these work the best!!!!!
I really like the Featherlight Cream from Ouidad, it's in the advanced climate line too. It's such a good combination with the advanced gel. The detangler in that line is really good too.
Thank you for the hair product recommendation.😍 I highly recommend Rizos Curls volumizing hair spray. It has no drying alcohol and it's moisturizing and gives great hold.😊
Great video as always, and even though you were sponsored by Living Proof, I really appreciated you talking about other products as well. I would love to see some more wash day/style videos from you :-) Have you done LUS? I don’t recall seeing you do that line-up. And if you’re game to do a full end-to-end video with Living Proof products, I’d be game for that too (the biggest issue I have is that they are soooooo expensive).
Thank you! Totally agree, they are pricey. I was glad they offered the discount for y’all which is why I proceeded lol. I have done a video in the past with the full line but my results were different compared to now. I need to do an updated full routine with their line. I have tried LUS but wasn’t big on them because the gel didn’t have enough hold
@@GenaMarie Thanks! Yes, 25% with Living Proof definitely helps!! 🎉 I’m keen to try the new LUS seaweed moss gel so wondered if you had tried it. Their all-in-1 styler definitely doesn’t have enough hold :-)
@@GenaMarie good to know! I love your channel, and think we must have similar hair type, so watch you pretty closely. I’ve been using the twist gel lately and it seems to work quite well - very similar to the lighter ouidad gel. Next on my list is the stronger Ouidad :-)
I’ve been wanting to try the Ouidad gel and you’ve talked about it before so I’m going to give it a shot. I was just on vacation in a very humid location and my regular hair products were not ready for all that. Perfect timing for this video, thanks Gena!! ❤ Do you add the hairspray after you diffuse and scrunch out the cast or before you scrunch out the cast??
I use Mop Top shampoo & conditioner along with VC anti gravity styling cream then Ouidad heat humidity gel. All the products work so well with my curls & products smell so good!
I live in the desert and we get monsoon season and it gets so humid. This video will definitely help. On the flip side, it’s super dry here most of the time, might you have any suggestions for moisturizing products?
For dry weather, you'll want to look for film-forming humectants such as flaxseed, aloe, etc. The Curlsmith Souffle is great for this: tidd.ly/3PTRsbW Or this: goto.target.com/Ygj0Qq For humid times, you'll want to use one of the gels I mentioned in the video though.
Super surprised that you didn’t mention CurlSmith Styling Soufflé. Have your experiences with it in humidity not been the greatest? What curl cream/leave in do you usually pair it with if so?
I love that gel in the colder months because it's great for moisture retention! I've definitely used it in the summer, but it doesn't contain polyquats so it's not "anti-humidity" per say
I would like to clarify my hair before I get my color done this week. I tried looking back through all your past videos to search for a good store bought one. Do you have a recommendation??? Thank you!
Question for you... I'm heading to the Mediterranean for a couple of weeks and will be in the sea every day. I have dry, coarse, frizzy curls and wondered if you think the Ouidad Curl Reboot Plus Leave-In Mask with perhaps the Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Stronger Hold Gel would protect my hair and still give me reasonable hold? Perhaps an idea for a video? How to protect curls when on holiday, from the daily onslaught of extreme conditions like sea/pool/sun. Thanks!

Medium/high density, very fine and easily weighed down 2c/3a, dk porosity but i guess medium + i like to have less clumps and more separation if that matters❤️
in the video you apply when your hair is not dripping. Do you like this better than applying when wet in the shower and scrunching while dripping? I love living proof.
Hi! I’m looking for a hair spray, did u also try the jessicurl one? I’m curious bcus I can be sensitive to strong scents. How is the smell of the bouncecurl spray? Ty!
I was pleasantly surprised this time when I tried them again recently and had one of my best wash days in awhile! I thought the same the first time but maybe I didn’t use them right.
Gena … what do you layer with the Curl Talk mousse? You said in the video “ this one layers nicely with it” but there was no picture of what you were referring to .
@@GenaMarie thanks for the reply… I kinda figured that was the one ! I’m learning a lot from you but I still have really crummy wash days 😬I need to do what you suggest and chart what I used on the “good” days .

I also watch Abbey young on here. I forget her last name but she is amazing at explaining the science behind hair. Most knowledgeable ive found but not when it comes to curls.. she was talking about the fact that silicones are good or do not hurt your hair I believe.
@Denise She explained that Glycerin is only a problem if it doesn't have humidity blockers. Most of the manufacturers tested their products, especially if they are going to label them for humidity. She also tested them as well. So try some.
@@hrod9393 Thats why I said I believe haha. Did you watch Abbeys video too? I swear she mentioned Glycerin. Maybe im losing my mind. Im saying it was in that video.
@@HonesTeaBeauTea My other reply was to Denise. You mentioned silicone when she didn't so I'm not sure why it was brought up and thought you thought Glycerin is a silicone.
This was a great video! I just got a sample of the Ouidad curl cream at Marshall's. Marshall's has a lot of living proof and ouidad. I am going to try that combo! Your suggestions are great. My hair tends to frizz as it is like 3c and then add living in southeast Georgia lol. CVS has twist products by the way. Thanks again!
I really love this style of video! P.S. My curls thrive with using hairspray. My hair just gets too soft otherwise. And I prefer aerosol hairsprays over water based hairsprays.
I have tried the Ouidad Climate Control numerous times, and it never leaves a good hold. I keep trying it because I hear nothing but good things but am left disappointed every time. Thoughts? I have thick, low-medium porosity hair, 2c/3a.
Two things I think: make sure you’re not using too much of the other products (leave in, curl cream, volumizer, etc.) under the Ouidad gel, and I usually finish (right before diffusing) with a little bit of the Curlsmith hard hold gel (Shine Gel or In-Shower Style Fixer) mixed with the Oiudad and a bit of water and just glaze or scrunch it on. The combo of these two tips made a huge difference in how the Oiudad works for me!
There are 2 versions of the Ouidad gel. The white label one gives less hold but the red label one gives stronger hold. I find using too much of a moisturizing product under it decreases the hold, as does applying it to soaking wet hair. I plop my hair for a few minutes so that it's still very wet, but not dripping wet before I apply this gel. Too much cream, leave-in, or water dilutes any gel on my hair. I have medium texture, medium to high porosity hair.
Thank you so much for your detailed videos! I appreciate your info on what kind of products should be paired together. I also love that you mention how heavy/light a product is. I've been seeing a few content creators try things that are obviously too heavy for their hair texture and give it a mixed review.
