The wood is rigid and doesnt have any play so its very stable as the boat moves, the same cant be said for paracord strung across but thanks ; )

Hey Mitch do you think you could remove the wooden seat system all togather and then use the holes where the seat was bolted in to weave and make a net style or woven style seat in its place it would give you a ton of para cord or bank line that way as well and if removed you still have the option of sitting on something as an improvised seat if you ever needed to plus it might be more comfotable for the family on long outings.

Im liking the simple paracord wrap ive got for the seats, easy to borrow some cord if needed ; )
Sarge's bean recipe? we used canned beans, his Tortas recipe is what your talking about i think and he has a vid.
    thanks ; )

the other side of the seat was broken and couldnt hold my weight, have you ever dumped a canoe? we used to do it all the time on purpose. Good practice.

How tight should I tigjten the main 4 screws that go through the edge of the canoe and down through the wood dowels?

I like BornRandy's idea. I was going to suggest a piece of plastic tubing to protect little heads or legs from getting scratched badly, you know she's going to crawl under there. Thanks for the video and a neat repair. Jim

Good idea, the bolt isnt sharp at all i tested it, i also didnt want ot cut it as thta would make a sharp edge haha cool idea with carving a spare wood spacer and bolting it to the extra piece!

What about a woven or netlike construction for a seat? Any chance of prying sarges bean recipe out of him. I have been on a beans and tortas kick since you two worked on his cabin. Cheers

you could also remove the screw(s) and use paracord or bankline to repair or improvise a seat

Suggestion -Cut off 1/2 in on the end of the front and rear cross bar undo all 4 bolts move ahead and rebolt it down -But you got a fix on it so far .

Thanks man, i can never get what i want from those lumber stores lmao im like NO i just need a 1" by 3" piece only... oh and do you have any with the bark still on? i prefer the young bark that is still thin and hard...
    O.O
    ..nevermind haha ; )

that second bolt is long enough that you could make a spare repair with predrilled holes and just bolt it onto the second longer bolt. ready spare already stored where you would need it away from a parts or hardware store. and it reduces the scratch potential of bolt. a little girls legs would fit under that bench much easier than an adults legs would. just thinking outloud.

For an emergency repair all you need is a piece of cordage. Loosen the bolt in the side and pull it upwards, then loop your cordage around the bolt head and down under the wood (the piece that broke). Do a couple of loops over the bolt head and under the wood and tie it off. Paracord is NOT the best choice here because it will stretch and come undone.

If you would use a second nut you could attach something to it. Like some fishing-gear or a net for holding stuff for example beer (and some lemonade for your daughter of-course ;) )

wrap the bolt with duck tape, it will prevent it from damaging a pack or a leg that get stuck under it. then got extra tape

lol did i call it a screw? lol ya i know what parts do but have no use for the proper names for civilization hardware etc i rarely use the common name for things, i call things what they really are by what they do rather than what some guy thought of haha like wood screw, metal screw etc a old friend of mine was the MASTER at this when he couldnt remember what coffee was called he would say "Do you wanna go get some sort of caffeinated beverage possibly with cream and/or sugar?"
    haha CLASSIC

what would look pretty cool would be to take the wood totally off and insert eyebolts on the sides and make paracord net seats
