This is so inspirational! Had an opportunity to work with ComLink recently and I had even met some of the children as well as the staff featured in video including one of Mr Alias children! I randomly came across this video today and was so surprised to see her! So thankful for ComLink for helping these families in need and it is really heartwarming to see Mr Alias slowly being able to improve his health condition! God bless this family and I hope they will stay happy and healthy 🙏

He doesn't need to work long hours, maybe just a min of 5-6 hours? He can work the morning shift, then he can be back home by 3pm assuming some school employs shift workers.
This way,he can go work & go back with his youngest daughter.

Basically, the parents deserve it but not their children. The amount of disadvantages and restrictions their children faced in school is too overwhelming. I'd rather they give up their kids and work on themselves instead. I see excuses after excuses, there are umpteen solutions to these simple problems and they chose to fight over who get to do the chore. Yeah, one of you does it, the other sit down and rot. Let's be real there are plenty of jobs available out there. Cleaner, hospital attendant, petrol kiosk attendant etc. It's up to him to hold down the job and not get fired (for eg taking too much MC/urgent leave, what not). Many times opportunities out there are aplenty, but the problem lies with the individual either being too picky, too lazy, having poor attitude and generally not adapting well to the work routine.
Having health issues is part and parcel of growing old - the individual can only help himself with better lifestyle choices and listening to proper medical advice. Health issues, especially those that come with age, must be taken in our stride and not be used as excuses time after time.

So you know he's getting old, he's beginning to have health problems frequently. The video even shows the guy going around on a mobility scooter.
And then you talk about job hunting ? What kind of small, ignorant pond do you live in?
Not everything is about lifestyle and mindset.
You talk as if you're a human machine.
People are supposed to be a community and help each other out according to needs. Especially in a case like this where the guy worked during his young, able bodied years and is suffering from natural causes as he's getting old.
Within a small island, with people squeezing out like this, where are the old joint families ?
Parents & children helping out grandparents, uncles and brothers taking turns to visit, joint farming and granaries ?
If you're going to become atomic families, you'll have to help each other out.
And the govt and community should provide support.
And the corporations you're going to do slave jobs for, will have to be forced to look into the realities of everyday life and needs.
These aren't robots or automated machines. These are human beings made out of flesh.

    • @cchan4739
      @cchan4739 Год назад

He repeats "when will I get a job?" multiple times during the video. Dude, u will only get a job if u go out and look for one, stop being picky, and just say yes. U are totally able-bodied. Many chronic ailments (including knee pain) come with age - yet u chose not to heed medical advice/take your prescribed medicines. Right, so who's fault is it? I can say so much more but I think he's hopeless.

We do our best in doing what we can to work and survive and whatever difficulty we face doesn't mean it is not good but instead there is reward or forgiveness if we are patient. Am I suppose to feel sorry for people whom does not want to help themselves and expect free handouts? Needless to say, I feel terrible for their kids, they don't deserve these disadvantages and treatment. All I can say is that if the whole world ran like how they run their family, the world would be in chaos with mass destruction.

Which part of the video shows him asking for *free* handout? Mr Alias already said he was embarassed to ask for help, he mentioned the male Comlink rep he put off going checking his health and he still works by collecting cans so I do not know why you say he does not help themselves. In fact it Mr Alias highlight to the Comlink he needs a job but apparently he has medical condition that needs attention. He is just prideful not allowing his wife to find work but you are insinuating they are lazy. Did you even watch the vid?

Are you blind, deaf and afflicted with memory loss ?
Because the video shows and says he worked when he was young, he's old now and having knee problems and moving around in a mobility scooter, which was only recently acquired.
The whole world has run into problems like this before during difficult times. Back then family and community will help them out.
Now, in today's age, you have upstarts with weird pfps in RUclips comments judging aging, unhealthy citizens about their job prospects during their difficult times.

Hi Casey, thanks for the comment! I'm the producer of this video and would like to give some context to explain Mrs Alias's situation.
While she has offered to work, Mr Alias felt it was better for her to stay home to care for their youngest daughter as she is only 9 years old. He was also worried that the kids would be at a lost, should anything happen to him due to his medical condition. After the couple's discussions, they agreed that Mrs Alias can go to work when their daughter is older.
I had similar sentiments at first, but I learned more about their situation when I met them. Hope that by sharing this added context, it could encourage us all to have kindness and empathy towards those who are in difficult and unique circumstances. :)

Keep up the gd work Carine. Who are we to judge someone just by seeing a 7 min video? During this COVID, is been hard for lower income family especially if they are home based learning, every 1 is cramp inside small room, can't focus if siblings are there, renovation noise, air plane noise if u stay near airport area, is a mental stress for everyone in the family. Just ignore those ppl like Casey , do things that u think are right, continue to help those ppl that u feel deserve to help n ignore judge mental ppl.

Err.. actually we malays are all about manners and etiquette. We like it when we speak a language where everyone can understand. Obviously they know there is a chinese social worker and this video is made for public to see..so speaking english is a way of showing respect for those who may not understand malay.
