Loved the video!! This line is so true - "Those who want to destroy the world fear the power of books."

Incredible video! I was hopping you upload so I have something to hear while I paint.
Books have helped me through some of the hardest times, as well as music. But books help me to be creative, to have critical thinking and I believe in the past two years I've become a better person because of books.
My sister who is 15 is obsessed with stories and reads a lot and I'm so happy because I noticed a huge difference of her temper. She used to be the tipical teenager full of tantrums and now she's calm and nice to talk to 😂.
Reading is so powerful and of course I'm so excited about this topic that my ADHD doesn't allow me to write something coherent 😂😂

Love this video. Books are paramount in my life. I am about to graduate from a Masters in Counseling Psychology program, so I work with stories every day. When a client comes in, struggling with some facet of their life, I see it as my job to really listen to and understand the person’s story. No two people have the same story, and it is fascinating to see how people understand themselves in their own life.
The more I read, the more I appreciate the power of narrative. The better I understand how stories are structured and told, the more fully I can understand what my clients are going through. I notice the details people choose to include and what they leave out. I’ve noticed that as I become more well read, I ask my clients more relevant questions that they actually have to stop and think about.
One day, I want to have my own little library where I can loan out books to clients interested in stories that might resonate with them.
Books help me to open my mind, which in turn, helps my clients reflect upon themselves.
I think it’s important to note, however, that we have to allow ourselves to be influenced by what we read. We must allow the narrative to pass through us, brush against our most sensitive and vulnerable emotions, without rejecting the experience. This can be really uncomfortable, depending on what you’ve been through. It’s exactly this experience that makes me love books so much, and what I think will help me help others.

Hi, an example of speculative fiction that has had a significant impact would be: ‘Johnny got his gun’ by Dalton Trumbo. Published just before the Second World War it tells of a soldier in the First World War. It found a new audience in the anti Vietnam war protests. I’ve not read it yet. It’s been on my TBR list for ages! Given its’ subject matter I think it will be a ‘difficult’ read. But I suspect it uses the story to effectively counterbalances the ‘glory of war’.

Amazing! I love these videos in which you are discussing the role of reading rather than talking about an specific book series (like most booktubers maybe?). Surely we need more of this!
Also this particular one is fairly deep and found new ways of getting me to dedicate more time of my daily life to books
    Keep on keeping on 👍

This is a very important message, especially for joung people. And you present everything with such a positive attitude and enthusiasm. Keep it going; if you can encourage just one person to change their life via reading, and I have no doubt that you will inspire many, you are a great man in my book.
