@@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking Man I wish I had the income to get one!! With a very fixed income and very tight budget I can’t afford a regular router! I do have several ideas to do with one though!! I want to make my wife and a few of my sisters a small raised platform, to set on a table that’s no more than 6 inches above the table. Then in the center cut out a 12X12inch Square(on a circle or oval platform, if it’s a square make it a circle) recess, maybe an inch and a half deep with the sidewalls with smooth edges and very little rounding at the bottom then cut at least 4 rectangles on the perimeter of the recess just big enough to hold 5 six sided dice. I guess you could either make 4 or however many spots around it you’ve cut for the dice, make removable score card holders with a pencil slot. It would be a good sized Yahtzee game table. It’s a fun game away from devices to play and even better, be a device free zone that is a cool way to actually conversation. I made my wife a small table and made the area to roll the dice especially with it and the 4 dice holders not attached to the table(very short table it’s one 6 inches tall. But I made it with the pre cut/glued tops you can get at the hardware store and premade furniture legs. She is using the table for something else so the one with the recessed top would give it an individual purpose unless you made pieces to fill the spots when not being used. I guess I don’t really have the skill, knowledge or physical ability to make to from scratch… I don’t know why, but I worried about getting and using one because of not getting hands on training with it I would end up injuring myself… same with a table saw I guess..

Wow Keith! This is fantastic! I am blown away buy how good it came out. At first I thought it was a Pedulla project! I look forward to your next build!

I really like this overall design and I love the walnut burl veneer! IMO, the brass looks very nice, particularly with the accents complimenting the mirror. I also like the LED lighting. Nice piece!
This is amazing. The technique, the details and the end product. This is art! I honestly think that your work, the pieces you produce, it's the pinnacle of woodworking.
@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking A bit maybe, but what you produce is.. Honestly this left me speechless. I follow a lot of woodworkers, and all designs are good but you don't create furniture you create art. I mean, I m from India and in my hometown woodworking is a huge thing. And with walnut. But it's all the same pieces. I consider myself lucky to see this. Thank you. Really.
I’ve always loved your work, I used to be able to do wood work. I’ve gotten old and my disability has pretty much shut me down. I did it for a few years after I was disabled. But now, it’s more time down then up .
Keith, I have watched your channel for years now. This is the best project that you have ever done. Also, the French cleat joke was very funny. I have learned a lot from you especially about design and am grateful for your content.
Thanks so much Brian! This definitely is at the top of my list as well. Would love to do something similar again, but with a different design aesthetic.
Came for the Lola, and didn't even see Jerry until 19:14... ;-) Shocked and glad that Lola is recovering from a surgery I didn't know she needed. That's a nice holiday bonus.
Keith, your creative process is fantastic~! I've been woodworking for a very long time and I hope to gain a fraction of your creativity by the time my time is up. Love the brass accents in the tenons and the bent lamination work. Now I'm even more stoked to push myself to get my newly acquired Shaper Origin working for me~! Love this thing. Thanks much for your continued inspiration~!
Thanks Andrew! So glad you enjoyed the build. I’ve seen some people do some amazing joinery, etc. with the Shaper Origin and I’d like to incorporate it more into my work in the future as well.
I’ve been an artist for a long time and just picked up wood working two months ago. I’m inspired by your process but a little intimidated by the cost of all the fancy gear. Started filming my second project yesterday. I’ll get it edited and posted before too long. Hopefully I can achieve some sweet sponsorship money one day and have half of what you have. L Kudos to you. Great build man.
I’ve watched a large percentage of your projects and I feel like I could produce a similar quality build if I really set my mind to it. For the first time, I feel completely out of your league. I have all the same tools, plus more, so it’s not a matter of missing equipment. Your creativity in engineering unique ways to make all of the intricate high precision joinery blew me away. The execution was flawless. I had incredible respect for your talent already, but this takes it up many notches. Have a great holiday season and I can’t wait to see what you show us in 2025.
Thanks man! This is the first comment I've ever gotten about tools vs. skills where someone didn't say "yeah, I could do that if I had those tools." It's quite refreshing! LOL. But seriously, thanks for the kind words 👊🏻
Insane!! I’ve been putting off building my first Krenov style cabinet due to the fear of not being able to pull it off. After watching this and all of Nick Pedulla’s builds, I now know I just have to quit woodworking all together. Very inspirational Keith…even though my brain hurts now 👍🏼
When I watch Nick Pedulla work, I want to quit as well. LOL. But hey, we are all at different levels and as long as we continue to improve with each build, we'll be just fine 🤙🏻😎
All the EN Curtis copycat sequences were hilarious, especially the router table montage early on. I thought the music got messed up and a different video started playing at first. Good stuff.
The piece is absolutely stunning! You should use mmWave as the motion sensor, they're much easier to hide (they don't even need line of sight, you can hide them behind a wood panel)
I know I'm a nerd, but I really wanted to draw the circle in the middle of your triangle orientation mark to create the Deathly Hallows. Super elaborate build and beautiful execution. I'm happy to see someone working with burl on RUclips and all the detail you've added is truly insane. Very well done.
@@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking Well, color me even more impressed. Thank you for responding to my comment. I can't tell you how many comments have gone unanswered from bigger RUclipsrs. I appreciate it. Good luck on the next crazy build.
I love that you show enough detail to show how complicated it can be to make fine furniture! Getting a snapshot from AI is just step 1 of 10,000 - there’s so much more to execute to bring any design to life. Beautiful work!!
Found this video so very interesting so much so I have saved it to watch again! The tools are super amazing and sadly as far as I can see some of them shall remain only in my wish list. Thank you for sharing. Rob (UK Subscriber).
Great video, first one of yours I’ve watched. Appreciate the detail and time you’ve invested in making it. Love the thought of getting to this level one day myself! Keep up the good work, Keith.
Awesome. Wish the gorgeous finished b roll was longer. Came out so nice. This piece probably required over $10k in equipment, tools, and products to create. Now this is HIGH END.
Thanks Nick! I had a hard time photographing this piece which is whey there aren't as many beauty shots as I would have liked either. Sorry about that!
This is an amazing piece of craftsmanship. I think I need to watch it again because I'm sure I'll pick up things I missed on the first go around. With respect to the AI "inspired" design. I think you picked the high road by disclosing that you used it and providing your inputs goes above and beyond. I hope Origin is showing you some love given how much you used it to make the impossible, possible.
I don’t normally comment on videos… but that was flipping awesome to watch! Great content, beautiful design, and some cats sprinkled in for good measure. This veterinarian approves. Excellent work! That is all.
Lovely design! AI CAN be your friend. And as someone learning my way on my new Shaper Origin, it was great to see the clever ways you used this amazing tool. I hope to see more of your solutions to interesting design problems. Thanks, KJ.
Absolutely stunning. You've combined 2 of my favourite materials --- walnut & brass, and added in burl walnut into the mix to ame it that extra special. I personally see no problem with AI inspiration. Your comments about attribution to source & AI for inspoiration are spot on. I guess there shall always be some who disagree, but AI is here to stay & to expand.
Phenomenal Keith. Really enjoyed this one and enjoyed the creativity with the Shaper. Always interesting to see how other people fit it into their projects.
As someone who was schooled as an architect back in the ‘70’s and then worked in an A/E office with 125 very creative, everyone outstanding in terms of HAND drawing skills, there is no way AI can copy the beauty of a creative human mind. As a woodworker, your little shelf is truly a thing of beauty.
That's an interesting perspective and I don't disagree. Unfortunately, I can barely draw a little cartoon house with a curl of smoke 😂. I'm glad you liked the design!
You are a true artist...period! Amazing work once again. And I really enjoyed the mix up of music. Each song correlated with the piece you were working on. Very well thought out.
As someone who can’t draw but is very detailed and precise in writing, I can develop very good prompts for ai and follow up prompts to dig away at what i want so i think leveraging ai for design is perfectly valid and still results in an original work.
Last year, we allowed our (then) 9 year old son to find a loft bed design for me to build for his room. It was only after he and my wife finished looking for a few weeks, and he had made a decision that I realized... it was an AI rendering, not a real piece of furniture. But, I'd said yes, and yes... you need to get creative and ask others for input sometimes. This was a masterclass, Sir. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece and the more beautiful process.
The KJ SAWDUST STICK THRUST oh man I just about died! Keith, this piece turned out to be one absolute stunner! This is a gallery piece, fantastic job 🎉🎉
Keith, you are the master artist, designer and woodworker... Stunning work! Based on ur coffee mug and the music you're also spending too much time with Erik 😂
Absolutely stunning cabinet! I think it was genius to design it with AI, afterall, you still have to make it yourself and adjust it. And it's the execution that matters most, yours looks better than Ai's version. Amazing job! thank you for mentioning the metric system, as the US system is mindboggling to me being from Europe. And last but not least, Very happy Lola recovered well 😻, I know that surgery from my neighbor's cat. Pretty invasive, glad she made it through it. Happy Holidays to you, Jerry, Lola and the family! 🎄🎅
I agree with you, it's about the execution. And thanks so much for saying the my cabinet looked better than the AI rendering - that is greatly appreciated. And thanks for the Lola well wishes - she is definitely feeling the love from here RUclips fans 😻 Happy Holidays to you as well!
@@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking It defintely looks better to me, otherwise i would not say it :), I see AI as inspiration and clearly you do too. I liked the bottom part a lot more than AI could come with. Cuddles to Jerry and Lola!
Now, that's a work of art, Keith! Really well done!!! 😯 Best wishes for Lola! I hope she has a full recovery! Merry Christmas! Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Absolutely amazing work, as always! But you know that. I did want to reach out to you; however, and say I’m so sorry Lola had to go through that (and you as well being her human and all). I wish her the speediest recovery ❤️🩹 and a long happy life now that it’s over. 😢
Whether you love or hate it, AI can be a wonderful tool to spark inspiration, which is how you've used it here. The end result - the beautiful piece you created - is still distinctly yours. I think that's a fantastic way to make a positive use of AI. Well done!
There has got to be a better way! Just the dust is enough to make me go looking for alternatives, not to mention the huge effort to create single use templates, which is one of my pet peeves. If I'm going to invest effort and material (and storage!) into templates, I want it to be flexible so I can use it for multiple projects. I have sometimes used pegs to form a path for a laminate glue up which is much easier than this massive template approach. Admittedly, this approach creates a very sturdy clamping surface, but that has not been a problem in my (admittedly few) bent laminate projects. Also, this is probably just a matter of personal preferences, but I've been perfectly happy with Titebond III in several use cases including a large curved laminate threshold in a high traffic entryway.
Christmas came early a Keith Johnson video! Loved it. Very challenging to thing of each step and process to somewhat recreate an ai generated shelf ❤❤❤
Thanks so much! It was definitely a test of critical thinking to start from an image to a function piece of furniture. So glad you enjoyed the process!
WOWWW Me he quedado impresionado del trabajo tan bonito. Ademas que he aprendido un poco mas de como usar el latón, en diferentes situaciones. Enhorabuena @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking
That's an amazing ... whatever it is. No troll intended. My only suggestion would be to learn/practice delicate soldering so you don't electrical tape stuff across the back of artwork like that, and you do love you some LEDs. Now, my main comment here is that as awesome as you are, Keith, I come to see your cats just as much. Glad Lola is okay. I have shop cats, and one is a 1/2 Norwegian Tree Cat that bounds up on my bench (usually during gluing) and SCREAMS at me for attention, food, or whatever cat thought he needs to communicate. I apply love until he jumps down. #CatDadSolidarity
yeah, I'm familiar with soldering, but not with buying the correct LED kits for particular applications. And thanks for the kind words about the shop cats...I don't know how I would get through the day out there without them milling about and getting in my way 😹
Every time I think of a project to push myself, I see something like this and MY idea seems frivolous, childish, and menial. What a beautiful, inspiring piece of work. Bothe video and cabinet. You see, your commentary actually makes me feel like, “yea! Just do this. Then this, then that. And BOOM!” Until I try…… But because of you, I’m trying. Thank you! 4:03
Definitely keep pushing yourself! I have similar thoughts as you when I look at other makers that are well beyond my skill set, but I use them inspiration and motivation! Cheers!
This is amazing. Only thing I would have liked better is more still shots of it at the end of the video to look at the finished product more. Awesome job man.

Great build, always love your videos and how you work through the challenges.. Beautiful piece.
Thank you so much! I appreciate you following along with my builds!
You are a true artist...period! Amazing work once again. And I really enjoyed the mix up of music. Each song correlated with the piece you were working on. Very well thought out.
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed the music, it's always a production nightmare trying to weave that into a video.
Your videos are so entertaining! And your creativity is amazing - 40 minutes went by in a flash!
Thanks Barbara! So glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers!
Watching Keith makes me feel like I need to go back to school. But once again another awesome build! lol
Ha! I think we all need to go back to school for certain things 😜😂
As someone who can’t draw but is very detailed and precise in writing, I can develop very good prompts for ai and follow up prompts to dig away at what i want so i think leveraging ai for design is perfectly valid and still results in an original work.
That’s a really interesting perspective, thanks for sharing! It's definitely about the prompts and I am still learning how to most effectively use it.
I am completely amazed by the skills and ingenuity of this build.
Wow! Thanks so much. It definitely challenged me on every level.
wow, what a great video! Thank you so much for all the work you put in!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching 😎
That's becoming the problem...you never know what is real and what is an AI rendering! It's a slippery slope and there is no way to get any traction 😬
The KJ SAWDUST STICK THRUST oh man I just about died! Keith, this piece turned out to be one absolute stunner! This is a gallery piece, fantastic job 🎉🎉
😂 Are you saying we have the next woodworking internet sensation?!? I'm going to need to make a more comfortable push stick if this takes off
When should I expect this delivery? Can’t wait, this is an amazing piece!
The mail is REALLY slow this time of year 🤣
Amazing, you are a master of your craft. We should look for inspiration from everywhere.
Thanks! I’m always trying to push the limits of what’s possible and what I think I'm able to do.
Keith, you are the master artist, designer and woodworker... Stunning work! Based on ur coffee mug and the music you're also spending too much time with Erik 😂
Haha, Erik is definitely a bad influence! 😉
Super awesome! I gotta try out some bent lamination! Looks fun!
It’s definitely a great way to add some curves to your projects - it opens up so many design possibilities!
I am picking up way more from this than I expected, probably more than you intended. I hope Lola recovers well.
That's great to hear! And thanks for the Lola well wishes! 😻
As always fantastic!! Keith👍👍👍
Thank you! Thank you! ☺️
Love it.....A unique concept. The Human choice of function & materials make it work !
Thank you sir! Well said 😎
I love this piece, has a smooth beauty well done.
I appreciate that! I love it, too!
Wow! Just wow!
Thanks a lot 👊🏻
Very interesting build. Great job
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Welcome back Keith….I’ve missed your vids and cats LOL😂. 45,000+ views in 20hrs I’d say a lot of other folks agree.
Thanks so much for following along! And there should be another video out sooner than later, so stay tuned! 😺😺
Your Talent with wood and amazing skill set truly amazes me!
very kind! Thank you so much 🙌
The best compliment I can give is that this project looks like something David Marks would make.
High praise! I greatly appreciate that 🙏🏻
Glad Lola's doing ok! 😻😻😻😻
Thanks Greg! It has been very stressful for all of us! 😻
Another incredible creation. Love your work. Merry Christmas.
Thank you! Merry Christmas to you as well! 🎄
What an absolute beauty
Thanks John!
I always enjoy your videos, thank you for being on RUclips, you and Jerry
Don’t forget about Lola! 😻
That video was the smoovest you've ever made, Keith. Kudos, from Chesbrough Cabinetry
Thanks Colin! Much appreciated 😎👊🏻
Simply stunning!
Thank you, Martha! 🙏🏻😊
Now, that's a work of art, Keith! Really well done!!! 😯
Best wishes for Lola! I hope she has a full recovery!
Merry Christmas!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks so much! Happy Holidays to you and yours as well! 🎄
Absolutely amazing work, as always! But you know that. I did want to reach out to you; however, and say I’m so sorry Lola had to go through that (and you as well being her human and all). I wish her the speediest recovery ❤️🩹 and a long happy life now that it’s over. 😢
I greatly appreciate the well wishes 😻. It’s been a tough go, but she is making tremendous progress and she's a whole new cat!
Beautiful work
Thank you 😎🤙🏻
I would really love to see the whole thing, not only closeups
Understood. It was just very hard to photograph without it looking distorted.
Love it! Still waiting for that shop tour!
Thanks! Unfortunately, no shop tour videos on the horizon...
That was the NASA moonshot of woodworking. So many years of expertise, and so much technology and planning. Wow.
Too kind! Thanks so much for saying that. 🙏😎
Absolutely stunning!
Thank you! Cheers!
Whether you love or hate it, AI can be a wonderful tool to spark inspiration, which is how you've used it here. The end result - the beautiful piece you created - is still distinctly yours. I think that's a fantastic way to make a positive use of AI. Well done!
Thanks for the feedback! It's all about finding the right balance between technology and craftsmanship.
Thanks for the feedback! Different approaches work best for different projects and preferences.
Beautiful project, well done!
Thanks so much, Eric! I'm glad you like it!
ООООООбалденная столярка! спасибо за видео !Thanks woodbro !
What a great piece and a great video. Awesome job!!
Really glad you enjoyed it! 👊🏻
I love any wooden furniture with curves and mirrors like the 1920's styling.
Glad you agree!
I initially thought this was about the book shelf😢 as always, fantastically built!!
That will be the next video! 😉
I love the integration of AI. Gives you the challenge of making the impossible...possible!
Great viewpoint! Thanks for the comment.
WOWWW
Me he quedado impresionado del trabajo tan bonito. Ademas que he aprendido un poco mas de como usar el latón, en diferentes situaciones.
Enhorabuena @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking
Speechless. Wonderful cabinet. (I guess I wasn't speechless after all.)
Ha! Thanks Travis. I greatly appreciate your speechless words 😉
And thanks for the kind words about the shop cats...I don't know how I would get through the day out there without them milling about and getting in my way 😹
@@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking Thanks! Your shop cats are sedate compared to mine, though.
Every time I think of a project to push myself, I see something like this and MY idea seems frivolous, childish, and menial. What a beautiful, inspiring piece of work. Bothe video and cabinet. You see, your commentary actually makes me feel like, “yea! Just do this. Then this, then that. And BOOM!”
Until I try……
But because of you, I’m trying.
Thank you!
I agree! I’ll make sure to include more finished product shots in my next video!
