no joke. i envy folks like you because you can immediately figure out how to make such an effect. i appreciate you for taking your time in telling users such as myself on how to do this.
Just started watching and FANTASTIC VIDEO TUTORIAL. No long shit intro, no spending 3 minutes explaining things I should already know. Just telling me where to click and in what order.
+larryinc64 That's what I'm liking. I know my basics around After Effects and if I look up an effect I want to see what shaders, what settings I need to look at and that's it. My LORD I hate AE-Tutorials that have minute long special FX intros showing how awesome they are. Channel Intros need to be 10 seconds at most in my mind. 15 is pushing it. Look at some big Let's Plays in the Video Game sectors of RUclips. A guy who's partnered with a MCN called "Normal Boots" has an intro but it's only 4-5 seconds long which is perfect.
Voidtalon Gaming I also do LPs on 'PowerPlaid', and my intro is also under 5 seconds. The only long into I have been ok with is AVGN. Most of what these tutorials are teaching is basically 'Click this option under a drop down and the rest is obvious'
larryinc64 I think sometimes I am alright with JonTron's intro which is also long. Part of the difficulty of After Effects is how robust it is sometimes you just have to be shown where to look. This is especially true if like me your focus is on 3D Modeling and you Video Edit more as a hobby and to keep abreast of how other related creative aspects work since you can use 3D in Video Effects as much as Game Modeling.
Voidtalon Gaming Forgot about JTs intro, he has not used it much lately. For longer form videos that post less frequently It's ok. I have not gone into 3D stuff yet. Mostly using CC as an upgrade trial from CS3 because I ave a project that CS3 could not handle.
larryinc64 I enjoy 3D a lot trying to get a full job in it and not just Freelancing though is quite an arduous task as there is so much competition and companies are super picky about skill-sets but gotta keep trying and improving. Any reason for CS3? I upgraded to CS6 long ago and I've not once regretted it.
This video holds up to this day!!! Thank you so much. There's no Fast Blur anymore, just fast box but that didn't effect the outcome. I appreciate the help
Very nicely made video, the joy of this tutorial is that due to the fire being animated it will actually be dynamic if you move it around the video. Nice and simple! :)
There aren't enough thumbs up for this video. Thank you SO MUCH. I need to produce an illustration of a character creating a ring of fire, and I hate painting fire so I'm just going to render transparent frames from this animation, scatter them around my scene, and warp/liquefy them for some randomness. Thanks again man.
This was a great video! I do recommend that you verbally say every number you set things to, while you are editing. I had after-effects split screen with this video and it was a pain to squint to see where you were at.
Personally, when making this in After Effects (2019) I prefer to use Faded Sphere in the particle section :) plus if you play with the colors right it can look like smoke too!
Nice and on the point Tutorial... Just wondering how to put this fire on a 2D still picture and make the dynamic glowing of the fire reflecting on the ground and a wall on the background just like a real fire will act on a dark room...
Thats what you get when you cut the crap and jump right into the topic. I love how you havent wasted a single second in the beginning. Most tutorials are painful to watch in the beginning. Before they start they show their family picture, their dog, and talk about their fav football team. Thanks for not doing that
I've searched youtube forever for a video like this. Thank you so much!!! Can you make an invisibility effect please? I'm having trouble with finding that...
first of all nice job dude, well done. i wanna suggest you something. actually i don't know if it's going to useful. anyway, dublicate the "fire" layer with different cc particle system settings (change the particle size with darken colors, speed, direction...etc) maybe you can achieve better and realistic results. and you can add some spark effects with animated circular solids. some sparks could be bigger and more yellowish; some, little darker and behind of fire. as i said, i don't know is it going to useful but it's not so bad to try.
Thank you for this tutorial. Maybe its a stupid noob question but, how do you get rid off the black background to apply the effect on a video layer or a image layer. Thank you!!
Right click on the effect layer, click blending mode and click add or screen. Add will usually make the object brighter and screen will usually keep it the same brightness and color. Experiment with it :)
love it so much really love your creativities keep it up still in touch with U hopefully as an editor belief there alot we still gatta share Gtupat Okwan wish U the best
Ok, overall the tutorial is helpful...But man, if you are saying it's for "beginners" you need to go through it like you're talking to a beginner. You talk too fast and you don't explain what you're doing when you're doing it. Remember, beginners usually aren't familiar with the interface yet...To say, "You go here and click" isn't helpful.
Thanks for going to the effort to make this tutorial. However if you call it for beginners, you should not assume that a beginner knows where everything is and works. Slow int down a bit and explain where and what these things do. I agree with Keith Balanis. This is a tutorial for beginners who already know how to do it.
I'm new to After Effects. The effect is amazing but I wanted to know how to rotate? When I increase the radius, it expands the "floor". I need the floor to be at a slight angle. How do I do that?
I used this as a base for creating dragon breath, but I'm still not happy with it. But this tutorial was great! I'm still learning After Effects, but being familiar with Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Flash Pro helps in finding stuff. lol Adobe does interfaces weird
After I added echoes my computer started lagging as hell. Not the computer it self but when I played the animation the video player was really slow. I don't know what to do. Should I get a better computer, or is it something with the settings?
***** thank you for your tutorial but i have got a small problem here when i press play it plays only the 1st frame and then it shows only the black screen so, why is that happened and how to fix it? thanks!
it's ok now i founded it! it was that red bar which it was only to that 1 frame i simply took it a little away and that was it, it fix! btw thank you for your video, it's a nice tutorial! (and sorry for my post!)
no joke. i envy folks like you because you can immediately figure out how to make such an effect. i appreciate you for taking your time in telling users such as myself on how to do this.
i think that people who understand after effects inside out are often ex developers for adobe

this is the best fire video on RUclips ! Love IT.

Thank you wow everyone else has a 20 or 30 minute video I like that you get straight to the point
that's the point of the channel, to do things within 5 minutes if possible
dude, thanks so much. This was for a huge school prject that i needed to do and you're a life saver
+jim kirk haha good to hear it
If this video was helpful to you, please leave a small Super Thanks. The button is located at the bottom right of the video.

A current project just got a boost and a wide array of VFX have opened up to me - thanks for the tutorial!!
Great to hear!
I finally find easy tutorial with no using plugins~! thanks!
Very good tutorial, I do not understand much of English, but I have managed to follow all the steps.
Thank you.
Best one I've seen so far
I found that if you use tetrahedron instead of bubble it gives you a much better look
you are damn right, this looks much more authentic
Oh man, much better
U still a real one after 4 years
well said sir

6 months late, but the thing is the effect will need different values for every clip depending on lighting and other things.
This video was very helpful. It was easy to view the settings without having the need for sound. (note im on a school computer with no speakers)
Really helpful; thank you so much. It was actually quite useful to observe all the tweaking you did to experiment.
through all the tutals I've seen,it's the best one! Thanks a lot!
Thank you!! So easy to follow along and the result looks amazing :) Youre a life saver!!
Personally, when making this in After Effects (2019) I prefer to use Faded Sphere in the particle section :) plus if you play with the colors right it can look like smoke too!

You literally answered my prayers, thank you for this tutorial!!
I know this is an older tutorial but it’s great, thank you! I just replaced Fast Blur with Gaussian Blur.
Great video! Was easy to follow to me and I'm happy with the result I get.

I've searched youtube forever for a video like this. Thank you so much!!! Can you make an invisibility effect please? I'm having trouble with finding that...

Gorgeous effect! Thank you so much, man!

first of all nice job dude, well done.

Very impressive sir, thank you so much for sharing your expertise!
Thank you for this tutorial. Maybe its a stupid noob question but, how do you get rid off the black background to apply the effect on a video layer or a image layer. Thank you!!
you could add the background to after effects than save it with the background
if you want to add fire to video you need to set blending to screen, add or light choose the best looking one :D
Right click on the effect layer, click blending mode and click add or screen. Add will usually make the object brighter and screen will usually keep it the same brightness and color. Experiment with it :)
great TUT, thank you

I'm new to After Effects. The effect is amazing but I wanted to know how to rotate? When I increase the radius, it expands the "floor". I need the floor to be at a slight angle. How do I do that?
I faked it by using Warp Distortion

If you want a more realistic fire set the birth color to white
can i somehow add this effect in a video?
I used this as a base for creating dragon breath, but I'm still not happy with it. But this tutorial was great! I'm still learning After Effects, but being familiar with Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Flash Pro helps in finding stuff. lol Adobe does interfaces weird
Now how do i add this to my videos?
Thank you for this video it will help me a great deal with my new video am doing.. :) :)
Fantastic now how to make smock to go with it
Does this work with alpha export? Or because you used a solid at the beginning, we wont be able to use RGBA to export?
After I added echoes my computer started lagging as hell. Not the computer it self but when I played the animation the video player was really slow. I don't know what to do. Should I get a better computer, or is it something with the settings?
Awesome! Thanks!

when i press play it plays only the 1st frame and then it shows only the black screen
