  • Grown in Tucson, AZ. I cooked half of it sort of like "candied pumpkin", the other half was roasted to use in recipes like pumpkin pie or bread. A thick and tasty flesh.

That is a gorgeous pumpkin - worthy of a video for sure. I've found that the flavor of mine increases if I leave them on the counter for a month or so to sweeten. They're a staple on our homestead now.

I just ate half of the one I harvested about 4 months ago... I simply cut it into shalf moon shapes and boiled them in water for about 30 minutes with pot lid closed... Added not spices or any other ingredients whatsoever, just water boilt... Also, I left the skin on (I did wash it with water prior to cutting it though)... And the pumkin is delicious as is... In fact, it was diving in tastes and texture, skin and all.

That pumpkin looks delicious, the thick orange flesh. I bet it makes great pies. Vine borers got all mine but one that weighs about 3 lbs.

Hi, this was my first too (grew it last season), this year I put in a nice garden, planted the seeds from this pumpkin and got some sad looking vines and no pumpkins...I'm going to try again next year, this is my favorite pumpkin (looks great & taste good too:)

Where's the from seed to table part? Did it just show up out of nowhere ready to pick? Where's the part where you planted the seed, nurtured it and knew when to pick it?

It's the ONLY pumpkin we know in Australia. So sweet, but served as a vegetable like potatoes or sweet potatoes.

A lot of people here eat pumpkin and sweet potato sweet, it kinda gets type cast as a dessert. It's too bad though, because both pumpkin and sweet potato are such wonderful savory foods.

Good luck! These are one of the hardest pumpkins to cut, you may need power tools. Also they have a lot more flesh than guts, which makes less space for a candle (unless you cut that away). The surface of these is deeply ridged as well so you’ll have to work that into your concept!
