This is fascinating, thank you. Comparison photos showing how different between then & now. Now seems so bland and empty. Both my maternal & paternal family (going back a couple of 100 yrs) lived in this area so watching this vid gave me some pictorial context.
I feel like crying, I am not even from Huddersfield but used travel to the market a lot as a child/teen. It’s such a shame how beautiful it once was, now it’s looks awful
Thank you for this as its a long time since I last went to Dewsbury. It is so sad to see lots of small town shops being taken over by the Big company's, that leave the town boarded up and looking empty. And its nothing to do with covid. Thank you for some happy memories.
Thanks for this. Being born in Dewsbury this is of great interest to me. Huge changes since I was there as a lad! The Town Gardens were built on the site of the long gone Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway terminus.
Plus there has been a decline of Dewsbury since well before 2017 with big brands closing down and boarding up their shops and most of dewsbury is derelict
The ghosts and architecture of the past have more soul than the faceless facades of today in Yorkshire. Its architecture crafted majestic torn down for plastic facades and cultures that know not of antiquated ancestry.

Everything has a beginning, middle and end . Glad I was there for the middle.

yes, way back in the 1900's people looked proud to be part of their home town, although i did hear that there were plans to spruce Dewsbury up ;-)
Thanks for this.

The old photos have crowds of people in them. Where as the new ones have not. I wonder why?
No internet back then, no Amazon, no ebay, no online shops...😑ah well

The difference is there are very few people today
