Excellent video. The toy shop was called Worfolks. Caddy's is the long, tall building on the corner of that yard, between 27 and 28 on the map. Here is some text I have copied from a Margaret Watson piece in the Dewsbury Reporter....a reader remembers the shop and Caddy's..."Another treat was going to Worfolks toy shop near Caddy’s, and gazing through the glass encased counter at all those desirable toys. Dinky vehicles, Meccano and Bayko were the toys of choice. “I cannot remember but I think it was Greenwood’s shop, near Caddy’s, which had an automaton of a cobbler in the window.."........I was born in Dewsbury in 1948 and spent many happy hours in the early 1950s in both the toy shop and Caddy's.
My next video is going to be about Caddy's, I've amassed a fair bit of info but I could do with more. J&bs is next. I've done a video of Greenwoods if you'd like to check it out. Thank you for watching.
Great video marc, I love looking at stuff like that, especially things about the first and second world war. I didn't like the dolls and bears! I can just imagine being stuck up there at night with them and Billy!! My worst nightmare! Anyways great video mate 👍
Superb look around what was one of my favourite shops when I was a boy growing up in Dewsbury....Thanks for posting ...fond regards Alan
My pleasure. More to come.
Nice video mate. Got my first work overalls from colin in 1966.
