Their journey is almost similar with the first generation of AKB48, and it took a few years before they got their big break. Sayang at wala na yung mga documentaries nila, pero alam nyo ba na there were only 7 people who went to see them on their first debut? hindi din sila dumaan sa process of audition tulad ng MNL48 naviewers ang nagvote sa kanila, but it was only a team who wanted to have a group perform in a theater. Marami sa kanila na walang talent nung nagsimula, just like Maeda Atsuko, the 1st gen ace.
The first generation took every criticism against the group, every bash from the audience. But after shedding tears before each performance, they still smile in front of the disbelievers, and to the fans who love them.
After all that chaos, they would then cry in front of their audience as a sign of deep appreciation that they were acknowledged for their hardwork and efforts to keep the group alive. Until now, even if most of the 1st gen graduated, AKB48 is still here.
They have been known by a lot of music lovers, now spilling over through other countries that have sister groups, including MNL48.
The hardship of surviving the industry is very real, but "hardwork will always be rewarded" , as Takahashi Minami AKB48 Team A would always say. (yes, I've done my research before I even say "I'm not a fan").
With MNL48 getting much hate, that is because they started off with poor exposure, and their handlers had not even explained properly to the general audience why they are holding auditions for an Idol group. They should've at least gave the history of it, about JPOP, from where the Idol idea originated from, and why the concept is "Kawaii" (cute). Instead, they just let the hate go through the girls who are now part of the group. Howelse would you perceive a group to be laughable and undeserving for attention if no one has any idea why they are formed?
I'm one of those who appreciate and criticize talent in any form, even if it's not our own. MNL48 doesn't deserve the hate, and their management SHOULD stand by them, and protect them. The idol concept they are promoting is to have the members develop their talents while the audience see their progress over time, and still support them even if one of them decides to graduate from the group. This is very different from idols, like KPOP groups, who are packaged talents right off the bat of their debut, but how they market their talent is very much the same as western music artists. Every wonder why KPOP is very popular with Westerners?
I'm not going to say "give them a chance for this group". They are already working their charm in proving haters wrong slowly but surely. Local Filipino artists need not to be worried about popularity, but more on making much better songs, and I mean, much much better. MNL48 is doing the same, but promoting a clean version of the JPOP music genre, japanese songs trabslated Tagalog/English. Filipinos should be used to that genre if you have been watching tagalized animes since you're young, it almost sounds like that.
Salute to these girls who had the courage to stand on the stage no matter what. Keep going. Fight for your dreams!

This was unexpected. I thought they were going to sing nasal like most of their sister groups always do but then they used their natural singing voice. Maybe bcs they are Pinoy, and Filipinos are known for being great singers and I guess they weren't an exception. I just love this.

I have listened to some of their other songs. I must say that they are really awesome. I feel a different kind of positive vibe. It just makes me happy. I don't understand why they get bash by some people. This is the kind of music teenagers should be listening. Their songs are very inspirational. :)
