Fixing a Thetford C250 Cassette Indicator

- I discovered the cassette indicator LED wasnt working on the toilet, so after some checks and tests I doscovered thet Reed Switch board (Part No. 50713) was corroded. After some checks I mamanged to fix the board.
Good video Dan. I had the opposite effect, red light on when the loo was empty. A nice simple one to fix, it was the float stuck in the up position. The pivot point seemed a bit gungy, so I opened the top hatch, and aimed a gentle jet of water at it, followed by a very gentle brush with a small loo brush. The float is now very free, and the red light went out. Job done. Lots of good tips on here, so thanks to everybody that contributed.

I'm not entirely sure I'd be competent to do the fixes myself but at least if the caravan has to go into a workshop, I'd be coming from the point of a bit more know how ...
Many thanks for having uploaded this video. Most helpful as I had the same problem. Although wishing I had smaller hands, I persevered and yes, the impeller was stuck fast. A bit of lubricant and 'jiggling' and all done successfully. Cheers..

Thank you for the video i followed the fault finding step by step ,had the same problem as yours all fixed now, although i had already bought a new switch but good to have a spare!
Thanks for that , I had the same problem wouldn't flush and spent ages looking for the fault, took the whole thing apart and in the end soldered the reed board and it worked !!

Thanks for a very clear and useful video. I now know what that circuit board is for and how it works. However, I think my problem is the pump but this has helped me get closer to fixing it.

If it is the pump, it might actually be blocked with some black gunk from pink flush solution. Once removed, have a go at gently moving the impeller with a small screwdriver or cocktail stick. and try it again.

Just found a had an issue with the light on my toilet... almost ended up with an overflowing cassette. I knew there was a fire so changed it but hasn't seemed to do anything.... so will give this a try.

Have no battery connected
Just sorted blade handle but then noticed ours is electric flush
So before start fixing this just thought to ask if needs electric from battery

Good Evening. I am having trouble with my C262 flush and the cabling to the PCB. My cables to the connection block to the PCN had corroded and when I cleaned them they broke away. I have tried rewiring but whichever way I connect the black cables, I get the toilet full detector light permanently on which my be a fault with reed switch possibly being stuck on. Even with the toilet empty. The flush is still not working and wondered if when the detector light is on whether the PCB flush stops the pump from flushing? (Sounds logical as you would not want to continue filling a full toilet).

In my Coachman Pastiche 2013 the third (top and largest) light stays on constantly, I am new so Im thinking this is the cassette full warning......problem is its on when Ive just put it in empty....any thoughts
Hi Dave, yup common issue. The magnet in the cassette is stuck in the wrong position. In some cases they stick with calcium build up or just get wrapped up in toilet tissue, so not allowing them to move etc.
Have a look on Practical Caravan RUclips channel and look for "How to replace a Thetford toilet seal" that will show you how to get into the cassette and you will se the magnet float mechanism, and hopefully see the issue.

Hi I can't find a video on RUclips on how to replace damaged toilet pump? Mine you access from cassette box. I can unclip it and pull it down, but do I have to cut wires and add wire connectors to replace pump? Surely not?
David re your comment on replacing a toilet pump on the electric flush thetford caravan toilet are you able to advise me how to access the pump and what and how do you remove the toilet panels on the toilet casing .thanks. kieran
great video. Does this reed switch also prevent the toilet from Flushing . It interlocked to let you know the cassette is in place.
Not that I'm aware of. When the light is on, it simply illuminates and thats it. No interaction with the flush on ours.

Great tips for diagnosing the fault, thank you. Maybe I'm just lazy but I'd rather just pay the £8.00 to buy a new reed switch from Amazon than repair it :-)
Well, if its just a bit of solder, its easy enough to repair, quicker too. But if its more corroded than mine or really damaged - the £8 is a solid investment !

Have been fiddling with tubes, pump etc. and pump is making whirring sound so seems to be working, also wee blades are a turning !
But water is still not getting into green tube to flush! Does the pump head have to be immersed in the water which builds up in the bottom of this receptacle ??? Am almost afraid to ask !!!!! Video does not say where to place the pump head??? Much obliged if someone could H E L P. Thanks
