Its interesting how the shape makes it looks like like the base of those huge telescope domes our astronomers use now, if you chop the roof off youre left with a circle foundation . Those modern domes are "Enormous investments in Impractical Places (End of Video Reference) 🙂 Come to think of it most weather stations like barometers etc are in the oddest places.
