same, i have been periodically checking for something like this for years, but to no avail. It would be such a game changer, and I think if people started to expose the differences, companies would be forced into improving their service for the consumer. I hope Digital Trends do make a serious attempt at this. For RUclips and Netflix mainly at least.

Bravia Core is the only stand alone TV app that streams in high quality (and only available on 2021 and newer Bravia XR TVs). Any other streaming app (like Netflix, Disney+, max etc) I use an AppleTV for highest possible stream quality.

    • @fonkenful

@@magnaigThat was certainly my experience after recently upgrading to LG OLED. OK, so after much analysis paralysis and FOMO anxiety, I realized I could only afford a B2 series; picture is great, but the GUI and its implementation of apps left more than a bit to be desired. Still haven’t entirely cut the cord from cable, and while the provider’s 4K player (Arris Xi6, I think) does allow for direct access to most popular 3rd party streaming apps, it doesn’t do HDR and is certainly due for an upgrade. My Gen 1 ATV 4K is a huge step up; the only wrinkles so far is that in auto detect Atmos mode some programming on Prime (just finished Season 6 of The Expanse) doesn’t revert to its native 5.1 audio, and I have to toggle the change audio mode, and the handling of commercials on Netflix is very glitchy - but the huge improvement in picture quality is worth it. Not being a gamer, or needing the Thread support, I’m not sure the A15 Bionic would be of any benefit.
      Yeah, first world problems.

@@Warship63Yes, even if you have a high end Master Series OLED A95L from Sony (I use an MS OLED A90J) I still use the AppleTV box watching streaming platforms except for the obvious Bravia Core. I won’t be the last recommending this. You’ll hear it from plenty others.

I've known for years now from my own experience & tinkering, that I agree that Apple TV 4k is the best for streaming quality on any app than the stock TV apps. Period.
Picture AND audio quality are noticeably better; for anyone that cares. For reference I'm using a recent LG OLED TV.

I Love the quality of AppleTV 4K for Netflix etc. Just sad that Samsung tvs have a delay in which the Audio is behind on the video. Have it on both my Samsungs (QN95a (2021) and KU6470 (2016)). Delay compensation makes it worse….
It’s like the hdmi interface does not allow audio to pass through at the same time as the video material. If only there was a way to delay the video, instead of the audio.

Whatever specifics a person may mention are fair game, and are bound to help people. “best 77” I can buy” is probably going to lead to very similar answers or at least very good leads for conversations for “best 55” I can buy”. I like both.

Hi Caleb, love the channel. With most TV manufacturers being so ridiculously opposed to putting more than 2x HDMI 2.1 ports on new TVs, what advice do you have about connecting a 4K blu-ray to a TV / soundbar if I the other HDMI 2.1 port is occupied with something else (in this case a PC)? Is it optimal to run the blu-ray through the soundbar or should the blu-ray and PC be connected to an HDMI switch of some kind? Bearing in mind I don't really want to add unnecessary input lag to the PC. Or should I just wait until Panasonic / Sony shapes up and gives us more HDMI 2.1? And when do you suppose that might be?

Re the best time to buy a new TV, from my experience as an A/V repair tech, i always advise
waiting until all the hype has settled down on the latest models, this gives time for any issues
to become know and hopefuly resolved, i say that because i have know some to be never resolved.
If you wait until the end of the year, you will know which are the good and bad ones and the prices

Howdy! To answer your question… I like both style answers!! Lol. Meaning I think it’s great when you go at something in a “macro way” then sometimes based on responses you recognize the need to go “micro” on a given topic. For example, your Dolby Atmos video, then really meaning down specifics of how Dolby Atmos works in a given scenarios/product. Not sure if that makes sense.
Ps. Devastated you. I longer have the Dragon for comparisons! lol. Guess I’ll hope for you to review home theater setups that can rival or beat the Dragon, wired or wireless.

Hey Caleb, your the best, now keep getting better. You're leaving us OTA viewers in the cold. How about a mention of the turner sensitivity, and the remote as it relates to the OTA viewer? For instance, my Sony A80J remote has a guide button, very desirable for me. It also has a page up page down buttons for the guide, making guide usage faster. I know you're a fan of cleaner remotes, but those without numbers make channel changing a pain. Next, how feature rich is the guide experience; Sonys' generally offer much info options, a big choice point for my buying choice. OTA viewers speak up.

When The model has been out a year, and the newer one forces it to be marked down at Best Buy. A one year old TV is still pretty cutting edge, but generally get reduced by 30% when a newer expensive model comes out.

Definitely wait to buy a new tv, They announce new TVs in early January. If you’re still on the fence, just hold out a little longer, I have a 85QM8 and I wanna go bigger and OLED this go around. Leaning towards the M3 97, but I’m not gonna cough up that much money just for a newer better version to come out in a month or so from now.

As a Home theater enthusiast I would say the “Apple TV 4k” is where you should start. Its inexpensive and the best Movie and Music streamer on the market. Next I would get a Good Budget value TV and Klipsch Cinema 600 sound bar. This is were I would start. This is what I use mainly in my home theater setup. But when I watch Movies, Football or Music I turn on my 5.2.2 AVR setup but it’s NOT really necessary. The Klipsch cinema 600 provides excellent sound for a sound bar. And its my default listening device setup for my AVR. I use the TOS-link connection to the Soundbar so it turns on by default and I use my AVR surround sound speakers and subwoofers when I want really loud sounds. By default in my AVR i have it setup to start with the speaker sound at absolute minimum sound and my sound bar turn on also when I turn on my AVR. When I listen to surround sound I turn off the sound bar and raise the sound level to my surround sound speakers. But I really do enjoy the Balanced sound from the Klipsch cinema 600, Even the Cinema 400 is Okay. But if you are just starting out to build a home theater setup I would definitely start with the “Apple TV 4k”. Worth every penny.

As an 83 inch buyer I feel like Im in a weird spot. The best Sony 83 inch is 2 years old. The G3 doesn't have MLA in the 83 inch size and the QD-OLEDs stops at 77. So if I get an 83 now I'm giving up on the greatly increased brightness of either MLA or QD-OLED. The TV I need doesn't seem to exist yet.

    • @MrManguy17
      @MrManguy17 8 месяцев назад +1

Samsung has Q-symphony, where you can have the tv speakers active at the same time as the sound bar for additional audio channels. It's available on the Q60c TV and up, soundbar has to be hw-s60b or better afaik. LG have a similar thing called "wow orchestra" but it only incorporates the centre channel speakers on the TV, and is only for the C3/G3 and SC9S/SE6S currently I think, but they said they will update other 2022 devices to do it "later this year". Sony have basically the same thing too, they call it "BRAVIA Acoustic Center Sync". Works on the HT-A3000 and above, not sure on TV compatibility, only tested it only OLEDS before.

I think the Apple TV 4K is best for overall streaming if a bit pricy though you get 1 year of Apple TV subscription with it. Even if you don't continue to pay for Apple TV, it has ATMOS and Dolby Vision/HDR/HDR10/HDR10+ support plus every other app. I never had any issues with Disney, Paramount+, or MAX. The A15 processor is way better than others so it's fast and high quality. Only downside is probably the apple remote but you can get used to it.

In 1968 a 21” color set was about $600, which was a month’s salary for most people. Today you can get a great 55” for that same $600 which is probably $100 in 1968 $$$.

They can last roughly anywhere between 3 to 10 years depending on 1. The electronics part's quality it came assembled with 2. Usage duration, intensive vs moderate 3. usage treatment: rough harsh vs with care and proper maintenance, dry vs wet/humid climate condition 4. brand type, the topmost brands usually have higher probability of lasting long 5. Display Type: LCD or OLED as the latter may have screen burn-in issue.

    • @AntonioCunningham
