    I honestly can't believe Samsung is not sending you a device to review. You are about the only artist tech reviewer that does very high quality video, and is enjoyable to watch. They have been doing great additions and updates to it that are all free updates. I've been looking into getting a tablet so I hope they send you a S7 soon as I would love to get it if it runs well. And it really is kind of neat that they have that 1 hour a day use for someone who may just want to dabble some art here and there every day for free. I've actually used clip studio for most of my comissions but my computer recently crapped the bed. I've been relying on my note 10+ and autodesk but its just not the same as using clip studio (specifically the inability to mask layers.) After I saw the notification for your video I immediately hopped over to the galaxy store to download it! As far as pricing goes its quite reasonable, samsung users like you said get 6 months free, however after that its 1.50 CAN/month or 8.50 CAN/year for a single smartphone lisence (IOS and Galaxy) for PRO.

    It’s amazing to me that clip studio is getting such positive reviews on android while it’s so hated on iPad. I think a lot of people shut it down the minute they hear about the subscription model, and trust me, I’m not happy paying $80 a year for the iPad app when I’ve already paid $200 for the desktop version, but if you ignore the pricing model for a minute I actually think it’s a better art program than Procreate. Procreate has a better UI and a faster response rate, but CSP has a much better brush engine and much more functionality. It’s also fully customizable so it is possible to get a fairly user friendly UI going if you experiment enough. I had to weigh the user experience against the drawing experience and decided the drawing experience was more important for me.
    I tried for years to love Procreate because it’s just a much better user experience, but I‘ve just always hated the brush engine on Procreate - it always feels like I’m fighting against my brushes. I’ve spent countless days tinkering with brush settings and can never get as good of a result as I get using just Photoshop’s default round brush with 70% flow and pressure-based opacity and flow. It might just be my art style though. I absolutely never use smudge brushes - I blend using the eye dropper. Never been a problem on Photoshop or any other desktop software, but I guess Procreate doesn’t really lend itself to art without a smudge tool.

      @Kogami 2 года назад +1

      A year late, but unsurprisingly it's pretty much because Android ecosystem was so desperate for a "professional" drawing app that we can't even complain that CSP was subscription-based, let alone expect CSP of all programs to be here in the first place. Beggars can't be choosers kind of situation, to put it simply. Hell, it was my literal reason for getting my first Galaxy Tab and I didn't even care it was subscription-based when I first heard of it, I just wanted a portable device to draw with CSP and I'm not going to adapt to a whole new ecosystem just for that.

    I hate the way there’s no one I could find talking about the Clip Studio app that actually uses it... For anyone who doesn’t use it and wonders how good it is, the deal breaker for me is the fact that you can 100% customize your workspace, to the point where your workspace doesn’t take as much space as it may when on default, but that you still do have absolutely everything open, and I’m talking having the smallest customizable shortcuts all put in a single line where ever you want to put it. You don’t have to reach for anything like you do in Photoshop for example, you can set it all up to your preference. The only downside is you can’t use photoshop brushes, but otherwise it’s the best damn program out there in my opinion and I have tried AND used a bunch.

    • @ryy1704
      @ryy1704 3 года назад

      Most drawing programs have a customizable workspace. And many people use csp on pc, it's better than photoshop for drawing stylised art, but photoshop is better for digital painting.
      And no-one uses the app because digital art is better made with pc. Anything else is amateurish.

    • @at7229
      @at7229 3 года назад +2

      Ryy Basically no mobile drawing apps have a customizable interface, so it’s actually a really big feature to have. And I’m not sure I agree with you. I’ve used photoshop for many years with a Cintiq and recently have started using clip studio on my iPad when I’m on the go. The only real advantage a cintiq has (for 2D illustration, anyways) is the giant screen, but that’s really not a huge deal for me because I end up drawing more when my device is portable. Also, the main reason people complain about the CSP app is that it’s not optimized for a tiny screen with no keyboard. The user experience can be greatly improved by tinkering with the settings (which is why customizability is such a huge deal, especially on mobile!), but I think most people give up on it within a few hours because it’s annoying as hell having to open 10 different menus to pick your brush and change its size given the default interface, plus it has a subscription model. When both your desktop and a tablet can run the same desktop-level software and both have great stylus options (Wacom vs. Apple Pencil), I think it’s pretty ignorant to write off the whole medium as “amateur”. For 2D illustration, you can certainly produce professional quality work on a tablet alone. For animation, 3D modeling, or CGI work, though, the hardware and software is just not there yet, and I still go back to my Cintiq for that.

      @@at7229 I meant most computer software have a customizable interface. But in the meantime IPads are still not as extensive in software features, but it might be on par with pc in 5 years or so. But why would anyone draw on a phone, it's not practical with the small screen size and slippery surface. P.s. wacom pen is better.

      @@ryy1704 Since when is it better made with PC..? What kind of a statement is that even..? Also, I use CSP for digital painting and I know plenty of people who do too.
      As for the worspace. No, photoshop does not give you the options within your interface that CSP gives you. You can customize your workspace even to the smallest of details, while on photoshop meny of the most basic things are always hard to teach without a keyboard. A lot of people prefer to draw without using a keyboard, and CSP most certainly allows that.
      It's a big and important feature that CSP has, espeically on the iPad.

    • @ryy1704
      @ryy1704 3 года назад

      @@kowalewicz2554 but is the flexible interface really that important? I see plenty of artist using photoshop perfectly fine, and many csp artists using the default layout. And it's faster to access stuff using a keyboard, then move your cursor across the screen for several buttons. But I guess it matters for IPad because not everyone has a keyboard.

    Did I understand correctly that I will be able to import PhotoShop PSD files to work into Clip Studio on in my Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 (preordered, I don't have it yet) and it will keep the layers? If so, how is the import achieved? Do I email the file to myself? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm very new to tablets.

    Do you happen to know how to import brushes on the samsung tablet? O: I have tried all kinds of things and looked up what I could, but I can't find anything on it and it's upsetting. And every time I think I figure something out to open the brushes on CSP, it just says file unsupported (the .sut files that are used for their subtools).

    Oh ! Brad, when you get the Tab 7, check out the Clipstudio Tabmate! If it works on the Tabmate too(bluetooth) device, it would be a HUGE difference, it's my favorite drawing gadget, and most comfortable one ever too, it's a nice nunchuck form with buttons all the right places, and many of which can function as switches too, so it opens up a lot more tools, in a comfortable gadget form.
    Only big downside is that it only works with Clip Studio, celsys', programs.
    If it works with Samsung's Tab 7 Series though. It would be THE ONE, especially if your main is CSP for drawing/editing/painting/manga stuff!
    EDIT: oh crap, just checked it works both on newer IOS and Android 9 and 10 too.
