"Bad Aural"
a mashup of music from Final Fantasy 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (Nobuo Uematsu); Final Fantasy 11 (Naoshi Mizuta); and Chrono Trigger and Xenogears (Yasunori Mitsuda)
June's Dwelling of Duels theme was Franchise Fusion, for which we had to combine music from games of different franchises. Believe it or not, I did not intend for this to sound bad when I came up with the title. It was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek reference to another musician, evilsonic, who hoped that the submissions would not be filled with mashups of Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger (two of the most-covered franchises in DoD). Evil = bad, sonic = aural.
I would have asked a flautist to play the lead part, but I waited until the eleventh hour to begin arranging and then a storm knocked my power out, so I decided to make do with my own Otamatone. It was an unintended side effect that my novice playing would make the title make more sense.
The mashup has two sections based around "Heaven's Tower" from FF11 and "Mi'ihen Highroad" from FF10. Those two were the only FF games I originally planned to incorporate, but as I developed the second part, I thought of more and more pieces that would fit--probably helped by the fact that Uematsu wrote all the pieces in that section.

And the mashup ends with the Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy battle victory fanfares.
