Why does the doe leave the fawn alone? Deer do not “hunt” for food.....they literally eat grass and there is certainly plenty of grass around the fawn. More evidence that deer brain are very small or here is some defensive reason to be far away
Fawns don't have any scent when they're born to hide from predators. So until they get big enough and develop their own scent the mother spends as little time with them in order to protect them.
