Funny story - bro-in-law is an amazing angler and has taught us so much. His name is also Tom and also from your hometown. We just spent the week in the Northwoods of MN and you came up! We were both trying speed jigging with the acme hyper rattle & actually hooked up in the early evening. It was insanely hot up there! Lost it right under the boat but a local dude who own the main tackle shop up there says these jigs come unbuttoned all the time. Thought it was pretty coo thatl he's been watching you for a while and I found your channel earlier this year.
TLDR: Your vids are awesome and it's nice to find someone on here that fishes local. Must be something in the water in WI because our Tom is a fishing god to us lol...Also love seeing Shelby holding it down for us lady anglers!

I like walleye fishing, but after catching Salmon with similar rods and reels- well, walleye just don't fight at all. Love catching them on light, light tackle or through the ice on a noodle rod. I have no idea why anyone finds this type of fishing enjoyable unless they are looking for dinner. Pound for pound, even their relative the Perch fights considerably harder.
All that said, thanks for offering some info on those tougher summer days when everything that swims is considerably more difficult to find and catch. I suppose there is a degree of enjoyment in out smarting another natural predator.

that sinteresting..ive just been getting back into fishing the last few years and ive come to find the same thing they may be in shallower water early in the season and then they move to deeper water maybe 20 ft or more but sometimes they can be harder to find in different times of the year maybe at those times ill try even deeper spots just to see...i usually dont have problems catching walleye or Pickeral as we call them here in Canada..same fish really well is to us you Muricans think different but anyway i usually find them maybe next time if i have trouble ill try deeper stuff but msotly i fish fast water or structured areas i know of and dont have problems..and other places i go they are plentiful

or try deeper water for the sake of deeper water...i know Lake Trout like the deep stuff. even in some places i go well 1 really teh Lake trout in early June are caught off shore by myself but later in the year retreat to the deeper stuff from what i hear they like colder water aka the deep.

Are you running planer boards because of how many rods you're running, or is it because of the clear water? I see guys run planers with cranks, but rarely with harnesses around here.

    • @TheOnlySgtRock

The planar boards allow you to fish multiple rods, creating a wide swath of water you are fishing.
