    SAD, A rare '32 Willys-Overland. :-( I would love to have had a car like this. Even if it was too far gone to make into a show car, it could probably have been fixed up to be a fun family driver, or hot rod. It had survived 86 years and was one of only a handfull of them left. :-( Too bad the owners didn't sell it to someone who would have loved to bring it back to life. I would have enjoyed the chance to at least attempt to resurrect it. ....... and that '66 chevelle, as well as a few others. :-(

      I had the same reaction until I realized it might be a Ford Model A. They made 5 million Model A's so they aren't very rare. Personally I'd prefer they didn't destroy it even if it is a Model A. My dad has a '31 Model A Station Wagon and I love that car.

      Its a willy. They had the car in the family for more than 20 years and realised that it would take to much time and money to build it up again. So they sold all parts that were in a good state and raced the shell.

    Probably another reason why you shouldn't sell vintage cars to Europe.
    At least a few of them looked nice. Even many demolition derbies in the US start to use 80s and later era cars cuz of the rarity and that older cars can take a lot of hits.

    • @AutorodeoNederland
      @AutorodeoNederland  5 лет назад

      Don't forget that most of those rare cars have so must rust on them that even the restore guys didnt buy them. All the parts that can be restored are restored and sold to the ones with roadcars. Don't think we use roadworthy cars as it comes to older cars.

    I can never quite understand the banger racing style. Would it not be more fun to do it demo derby style and get more bang for the buck for smashing things. one hit and you are pretty much done in this and you hit someone and you get 4 cars up the butt right away with people trying to smash thier car before they can get many laps in it would seem. I can see demo derby from the USA being very popular, but banger just makes no sence unless you want to end up in tractseen for some reason.

    • @AutorodeoNederland

      I saw a lot of America demo derbies where the ground is soaked in water to ensure the tires get no grip, the arena is about 8 car lengths long to ensure none of the cars can reach speeds in excess of 5.73 miles per hour and all you get is some lame bumper kissing here and there. I like the high speed crash action of the banger style a whole lot more actually.

    Ah yes, "demo derby" as they like to call it in the states, or as I call it, " pussying about backwards and forwards on a 10 inch patch of dirt at no more than 3mph. Doesn't get any more boring than that. I used to race bangers from the early to mid 90's, the emphasis was more on racing back then, but still a good amount of wrecking thrown in. Must say, I don't really understand this recent trend of driving flat out into a line of dead cars. Just gets quite predictable.
