Cascate di Fanes is one of the most impressive waterfalls of Italy with a total drop of 120 meter. There is a lower part (Cascate di Fanes di Sotto) and an upper part (Cascate di Fanes di Sopra) where you walk behind. A great experience with an awesome view
-Lake Landro, a beautiful mountain lake, is part of the Three Peaks Nature Park and accessible from Dobbiaco.It is already located in the Three Peaks Nature Park, like that it is protected area, and the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park is directly connected to its western bank. The gorgeous alpine world around the turquoise lake is very popular. Among others, Lake Landro - "Dürrensee" in German, "Lago di Landro" in Italian - offers a unique view on the Cristallo Group and the Ampezzo Dolomites. Near the lake, towards Dobbiaco, the famous "Three Peaks View" is situated.
Besides Lake Braies and Lake Dobbiaco, Lake Landro is among the three largest natural lakes in the Upper Val Pusteria. Despite of its high location at more than 1,400 m a.s.l., the water is quite warm, because it has only few feeders and no drainage. The lake is starting point for numerous mountain hikes in summer, e.g. on Mt. Piano (2,324 m a.s.l.) in the Sesto Dolomites or to the Antonio Locatelli Mountain Hut (2,405 m a.s.l.) at the foot of Mt. Paterno. Directly at the lake, the path no. 6a proceeds past the typical cairns to the "Valle della Rienza" climbing crag. Also at the lake there are nice spots to relax, for example the pebble beach on the north bank or the little restaurant on the west bank. In summer, the MTB route Dobbiaco-Cortina proceeds here - in winter, however, this area is a paradise for cross-country skiers.
