Cozumel, Mexico | Día de los Muertos at The Mayan Cacao Company - Full Tour (with captions)

It's one of the most frequently visited ports for cruise lines in the Western Caribbean. But what are things to do in Cozumel, Mexico? Well, this time around we're arriving by way of Royal Caribbean International's Allure of the Seas, and we'll be taking a kid-friendly shore excursion to The Mayan Cacao company for a special Day of the Dead (Dia de lost Muertos) celebration.
The Day of the Dead is traditionally celebrated on November 1st and 2nd, so tours centered around the Mexican holiday will typically be limited to around that time. That said, The Mayan Cacao Company tours are available year round.
During this festive tour, we'll learn the history and lore behind Día de Muertos, some of its key people, and the ofrenda (altar) itself. Much of what's discussed is highly educational, with our tour guide pulling many references from Disney's Coco. This excursion is particularly good for smaller children as they'll get to sample free food (including chocolate), participating in some arts-and-crafts, and help build an ofrenda of their own.
In addition to our Day of the Dead tour, we'll have a brief walking tour of the International Cruise Terminal (port), a scenic drive to our destination, and The Mayan Cacao Company itself.
