And we have our million problems and errors in judgements.... Give the tittle and the throne to Nigeria or Somalia its one and the same for us we will still be loyal to Mzantsism.
As south africans we don't about being giant of Africa. Nigeria can win the title because they are obsessed of being giant Africa. We just want to left alone.
Leadership are you serious. Instead of focusing on how we can create wealth or job opportunities for ourselves we are always focused on the wrong issues that’s why these fights are useless including ghana
@@toontumnetworkwe dont want that title, being called giant doesn't mean your a good leader or smarter than others.....Nigeria can keep that title it serves no purpose in south africa and for south africans. We want stability, economy that represent the majority of people, road to be build, hospitals, schools, universities, basic needs covered, water and electricity, jobs, business opportunities......we dont care for a title that has no impact in ordinary lives of south africans
To be honest as south africans we don't compare or measure ourselves against any African country because our focus is taking Africa to another level of development. But what I see is seeing and hearing how Nigerians always comparing themselves to us. We don't care about this thing of being giant of Africa that Nigerians are obsessed with. For us it's nothing really we do our thing.
Nigeria never compare themselves to south Africa, Nigeria call themselves giant of Africa because of its large population. The speaker doing the comparison is Ghana, not Nigeria.
Nigeria has never compare themselves as more develop than Nigeria, they can compare with music, movies. They have never claim to be more developed. I don't know why fellow Africans like dragging Nigerians .
South Africans don't care for these rankings, most of us just want a good quality of life. Access to education, quality healthcare, & functional infrastructure are all key socio economic indicators that deserve our attention, not for global recognition, but for our citizens.
They are soo obsessed with being called number 1, and great giant , and yet they had decades to prove themselves and compete with the rest of the world while we were in slavery 20or so years back. This is so tiring, why don't they just compete with Ghana, Rwanda etc, and leave us alone!😂. We could be called just an ant in Africa, we are good!.
You don't care. You do not speak for everyone. I am not nigerian, but this I will say that they own 95% of their economy. I am talking about black own. I don't have to say who owns the economy in SA.
A Namibian here, in my opinion I have never heard South Africans compare themselves to any other African country but I hear a lot of Nigerians coming for South Africa. That being said if we are forced to choose just based of behaviour alone i would say let Nigeria lead west African countries and us Southern African countries will keep South Africa. I mean look at the shameful behaviour of the Nigerian government towards other west African countries when Europe and US attack other African countries, didn't ECOWAS under Nigeria come against a fellow African country that wanted to gain their freedom? Who will they lead? How they lead? Meanwhile South Africa has done it's best to always defend and help not only it's neighbouring countries but also other African countries for example in Libya and recently in Ethiopia. Edit: note that since this video is mostly assessing the CURRENT events on the continent as indicators of a leading country , my comment above also focuses on the current situation in how the two countries relate to other African countries. Can Nigerians honestly say that Nigeria as it is can lead Africa?
Thank you, and we really don't compare ourselves to anybody, we are too busy trying to solve our ish.....in our country. Nigerians they like to make this type of videos comparing themselves to us🙄🙄🙄. It is tiring seriously if they want to lead Africa they can go on😂😂😂😂😂nobody cares, us South Africans we are still worried about out internal affairs we need to lead ourselves properly b4 we go to the whole continent. My goodness Nigerians do on be the giants you always call yourselves as 😂😂😂😂😂we don't care.
The Nigerian senate vetoed sending any army to Niger so you are wrong. Lets not act like southern African countries dont mistreat each other. One can't argue or quibble with your paper analysis too much, because that's what it is !! It is all paperwork for certain! South Africa does start off with a near "first world" infrastructure from the nearly 370 years of European settlement in the country! And despite its previous apartheid policies , it had support from a great number of European countries in helping it build and retain its infrastructure over many decades! In fact there is no gainsaying that despite given up political power to Black South Africans, the whites still dominate and control the economy of South Africa! Fact! Also for various reasons and intentions, a huge Jewish, Asian and so called Coloured populations were allowed to thrive in South Africa! Leaving all that aside, Nigeria will NEVER do well on paper reports! And that is partially Nigeria's fault, as we ourselves fail to document a lot of our own processes and procedures! To put it shortly, Nigeria is missing out big time because of our inability to document ourselves and our modern existence! Nigeria for instance does not collect taxes from a great number of its citizens who earn income!! We only seem to focus on government workers and hoisting heavy bills on more reputable and established companies! From well diggers to roadside mechanics, to street corners vendors, to local cafeterias, none pay any viable tax to government!! Well none that the government can document for reference purposes! We need to man up and apply steely resolve to capture and document our taxes and duties as accrued! Property tax are rare for instance, and in a country where people pride themselves on building their own personal homes(often without mortgages)! So people are earning money without contributions into government coffers!! Nigeria is also very slow on touting the country as tourist destination! The potential is huge and it can be a viable alternative or additional option for great revenue! That also needs to be reformed as soon as possible! I can only agree that our style of governance even within the democratic process , still apes the myopic system of previous military regimes! We need to "exploit" democracy beyond elections, we need to begin to reap the benefits or dividends of democracy! But Nigeria is turning the corner, just like the presenter himself says, there has been movements of sorts in the past (most recent) 20 years! This ties in with the extent of time Nigeria became a democracy again since 1999. It is my belief that in another 20 years or so, Nigeria will tick more of the good points in the box! But as for the most influential country in Africa, I give that to Nigeria ANYDAY!!! Our vast population and its extensive diaspora across the world gives Nigerians untold leverage in this regard! Our movies, music and cuisine are now better known than South Africa's and gives us added relevance! Our Nigerian writers books have often featured on the school curriculums of many other African countries! Our various artworks of carvings, paintings and brass works of centuries old, grace some of the most famous and prominent museums of many countries of the world! Let me be clear, South Africa will always be a solid competitor for the most influential country in Africa, but we will always hold our own ! Still we move! 👊🏾🇳🇬👊🏾🇳🇬!

South Africa is in BRICS ,G20 and everyone is interested in what we say and think ! I haven't heard anyone wanting to hear what Nigeria thinks ! We are the best travel destinations in Africa Nigeria is not even in the top 10 . South Africa is the number 1 invester in Africa when it comes to other African countries! We just won the rugby world cup this is the 4th time ! Cape town was voted as the most beautiful city in the world I mean miles ahead of any city in Nigeria South Africa has hosted rugby world cup,FIFA world cup, cricket world cup . We are the only country in africa manufacture and produce trains. Other than music ,movies and population their is nothing really because even if u take GDP u break it down to GDP per capita we better than u
@@just_by_luck Still white owned! You are merely regurgitating the same paper report as the presenter! All of it can be subjected to translation! China is not a member of the G7, but it stands only behind ( and threatens) America in terms of global influence! India , which is also in BRICS was for many years the poverty capital of the world! So these "weather reports" do not count for too much! As we speak there are still enclaves in South Africa that Black peoples can't visit let alone live in! Blacks are still being barred from restaurants and swimming pools! Most demeaning! And this is even happening in the supposedly most beautiful city of Cape Town! Of course I see that you are visually impressed by your white built South Africa! As a South African passport holder, you will be treated most differently from a white South African in many parts of Europe!! As for your country being more visited, that's all well and good! I as a Nigerian have a morbid fear of ever stepping foot in SA! I can't understand what my fellow Nigerians are doing there! Your "toyi-toyi" violent and vicious dancing mobs could be unleashed at any time. I never want to see that nonsense! But put it this way, two children from two households are watching tv! One is watching a big colour tv while another is watching a black and white tv! Yet the one watching the colour tv, is standing discreetly outside a window looking in into his neighbours house! But the one watching the black and white tv is seated comfortably in his own living room with his family all around him! You're on point, though am from Nigeria, have watched a documentary on South Africa where citizen was complaining that d foreigners were taking the job that belong to them, I was so surprise that sa citizen can make such statement, if sa citizen are industrious no one can take your place,
Were you get your stats? do you know what is under poverty line? SA has 55.5% of upper bond poverty line, do you even know what that means? that is a standard of a nation that is developing, not third world standard like Nigeria. Upper bond poverty Line will be considered a solid middle class in countries like Nigeria. There is no data suggesting that SA has 50% of people living under poverty line, that's insane and only a person who is not well informed will type such. SA would have lost its status of been an upper middle income nation, it wouldn't even make sense. From world bank statistics, we have 23% of poverty rate as of 2022 and not under poverty or abject poverty but just poverty. The statistics on world bank comes from stats SA, keep in mind, SA measures a poor person by living below $4.8 a day while the rest of Africa uses $1.8 a day, so already even our standards to measure poverty are very high. What we usually call poverty in SA will be a low middle income in Nigeria and our stats disregard people in informal settlements while African governments consider people in informal settlement employed
I'm South african🇿🇦, I don't think we as a people give too much attention to these lists because we are at odds with our government as we have high standards and expectations. I think to a large degree we are more or less aware of our influence in Africa but I am dissapointed we don't do more to unite the continent as I think some african countries will listen if we put a firm plan on the table. I do wonder where our friendly sibling rivalry with Nigeria comes from, especially cuz we are in different regions. It used to be just football but it's spilled over to music and other things too. The Ghana/Nigeria rivalry I understand because of the similarities and proximity. Overall though I don't think we should be in competition rather if we all have the muscles let's flex them to truly rid Africa of colonialism of all forms, and use each others strong points to get to the next level.
@@mosalethoba5267don't get confused my brother, we have alot in common with the other regions of Africa. One thing I will never understand about Nigeria as a South African is why are they kissing the @$$ of American leaders? We remained neutral with regard to the war between Ukraine and Russia, we are supporting Palestine right now. Why are you busy following Americans whilst you are not even benefiting from them?
Why are we still stuck in the cycle of comparing countries? Does it really serve any purpose other than stirring up tension and creating unnecessary divides? As a proud Nigerian who spent a decade in South Africa, I can attest to the fact that both nations have their unique strengths and flaws. Instead of perpetuating this 'A vs B' narrative, let's focus on the collective contributions each African nation brings to the table. We should be working towards fostering unity, building strong economies, and enhancing security within our continent, rather than relying on external influences. I have immense respect for South Africa and its people-they've taught me valuable lessons during my 10 years there. some great experience and some horribles ones too. @@maxjaytv How so dominated? I bet you have zero idea of SA context. The macro level of the economy (which deals with the means of production) is dominated by mainly the black government and a few whites. South Africa is the best country In the world 🌍 period it, we amazing 👏 we have more lands, Amazing infrastructure, take it easy
👊🏾🇳🇬👊🏾🇳🇬!
Love this from South Africa
Interesting" black owned" but yet their is no real benefit for an average Nigerian !
Tell me which one is better for an average south African or Nigerian ?
Because south African has
1 . Better roads
2.better airports and many but Nigeria has a larger population
3. Better hospital
4.better schools and universities
5.free education
6.electticity is better
7.better infrastructure in general
All of this are public services that average south Africans benifit from: not including social grants and old age grants grants for disabled and road accident funds
Look at the geopolitics situation!
Cape town was voted as the most beautiful city in the world I mean miles ahead of any city in Nigeria
South Africa has hosted rugby world cup,FIFA world cup, cricket world cup .
Which child is going to grow up to be more confident and have more self worthiness?

As a South Africa I just wish we remain humble and keep building our nation for our future generations, leave the "giant" debate to others.
I'm South african🇿🇦, I don't think we as a people give too much attention to these lists because we are at odds with our government as we have high standards and expectations.

It honestly doesn't really move us as South Africans it's actually boring! It's time we stopped this nonsense of comparing and contrasting instead of focusing on building and fixing our communities and countries! That's why in SA to this day we still fight with our government to stop the corruption and deliver services! The minute we lose that focus on them, they do what they please with our hard earned tax!!
As South African. I respect Nigeria as symbol for black excellence wish you could sort out your political problems.
To be honest, Nigeria is still a primary economy while SA is probably a tertiary economy. What it means is that Nigeria is not close to South Africa at the moment but has a huge potential for triple or more the economy of south Africa. There's will be no comparison.

Why you guys always compare with south Africa you can compare yourself with Egypt Morocco or Namibia not us
One thing I will never understand about Nigeria as a South African is why are they kissing the @$$ of American leaders? And America doesn't even recognize the Nigerian leadership, I mean look at AGOA it benefits South Africa more than any other country in Africa yet South Africa can talk however it pleases with regard to the US.
But I'm tired of these comparisons that seem to add no real value. It's time to move beyond this divisive rhetoric and concentrate on the positive aspects that can benefit us all.

There is no competition and there won't be one leader of any continent. Nigeria can't project power beyond its own borders and South Africa is mostly folding its arms and not doing much on the continent out of a need to build itself up. These are two countries in completely different stages of development. One can build entire tanks, missile systems, radar systems, full-size military drones, locomotives and BMWs - the other buys cars off Alibaba and calls them homemade.
what the f***k do you mean SA is folding its arms? do you even know what SA is doing for Africa? like there is no nation that has done what SA is doing for Africa and it continues to do so, son't just say things out of resentment and bitterness, speak from a position of research and reality

Yes a very point you made. Whilst the host has based his assessment on objective numbers there other factors which are necessary to be a true leader. At moment the country is plagued with internal political and economic problems but without any doubt Nigeria's future looks bright and human capabilities too

It's the typical Ghanian mindset against Nigerians and he's spewing out same bs as Sammy flex who is very pained by the success of the Nigerian entertainment industry
What are you talking about, every country in Africa was colonised, when Nigeria gained independence from Britain, the British (white) people left their infrastructure on the hands of the indigenous Nigerians, and it was then up to you to advance the given infrastructure on, but unfortunately the new black government in Nigeria lacked. Where as in South Africa between 1994(democracy) and till now (2023) South Africa’s new black government has taken up the responsibility of building up 60% of all infrastructure you see now in SA, so it has nothing to do with being white or black it has to do with responsibility of the government and unfortunately for Nigeria South Africa’s government(black ) does way more work than any other country on the African continent hans SA having the most infrastructure.
