Brock is the one exception to the black anime character Trope; he is a stable, home trained, well-groomed, family Man who can sew, clean, and is a great chef
He is highly educated, owning his own business, (I want to say he's a published author of his own cookbook), religiously promotes personal health and fitness, and only left home to look for his absentee father after spending years raising his child siblings... He's basically a chocolate Lie Ren.
The only catch is *_he can't stay away from Dem white wemens_*

Yeah I love this fight, we really see yangs growth from her training with her dad and her new look on things. She fights with her brain as much as her body and uses her semblance with purpose not just to power up her normal moves and her temper is in check, not out of control it’s impressive. There’s a similar fight in volume 7 where I’m again impressed with yangs growth and using the stuff she learned ( sort of like at the end of last season at haven where ruby used her hand to hand training from that season against mercury)

@@Marie-do1df the common inference is that the SDC branded him themselves because he was a slave or something. Which I don't think was actually the case. It strikes me as kind of weird since Faunus slavery supposedly ended years before he was even born. (Of course "indentured servitude" and Jim Crow-esque laws and economic pressure likely still exists in Atlas, but branding isn't supposed to be part of that.) And branding your own "property" on the face, is somewhat impractical. A half-blind worker is less "valuable" after all.
My theory is that he was the victim of a particularly vicious hate crime by SDC employees.
Now back in the day, when wooden crates were used to ship absolutely everything, the fast cheap and easy way to label crates was by using branding irons. So a packaging warehouse would have a hot brazier with a few company brands in it, heating all day long. A worker's job would be to nail the crates shut, brand the logo on the sides, and keep the fire hot. It wouldn't be too hard of a job for a young Faunus worker to do.

I mean we see a character later on who basically grew up in slavery… Slavery might be outlawed… but that only works if the law is enforced.
It might be called indentured servitude, legally or whatever… but no upstanding huntsman or police official would have let it happen, and it was in full plain view as well.
      So likely not enforced.

I just love the little details in this fight. Like how they have Adam switch up his fighting style between Yang and Blake. With Blake, he never uses his stored up power attacks on her, because she can just keep shadow cloning out of the way. But with Yang, a solid target, he's using power attacks whenever he can. Also, there's a moment when Yang does the same direct charge at Adam that she did at Beacon, but uses it to bait him into an attack that misses, because she uses her gauntlet to push out of the way and then attack his exposed side. Showing that she has learned to fight more with her head, and that Adam didn't take her seriously at first.
Some people say ballet is the height of storytelling through movement. I say it's fight choreography.

    • @Merilirem
      @Merilirem 5 лет назад +16

Not to mention if he did hit Blake with his big move she would likely die. He has no intention of straight up killing her. He only goes for non-lethal crippling shots. Yang? Yeah he wants her dead at this point. He went full murder mode against her because she can't avoid it and he doesn't want her to.

By this point, Oscar and Ruby would be the only minors(and Ruby depends on timing and laws). Ruby was 15 at the beginning of the series, and the rest of Team RWBY and JNPR were 17. By this point, especially after the timeskip in Volume 3, I'd say 1-2 years have gone by. That would make everyone else at least 18-19, and Ruby 16-17. And 17 might be the age of majority there, if they're allowed to enroll in huntsman finishing academies at that age.

I see Cordovin as a delusional, powertripping military commander who's been in the force for so long they feel obligated to let her stay until she's no longer capable of even serving a small administrative role at a distant outpost. She probably technically isn't even supposed to be piloting that mech, and I assume she just pulled rank when she saw the chance for a grandiose public execution, showing off Atlas's technological prowess. Probably thinks that Argus would stop "slandering" her if they were afraid of her.
The Adam fight choreography this episode was just nuts, and while I've heard recently that some pieces were recycled Monty content that never made it into earlier volumes, I really, really hope this sort of stuff continues. Seeing him getting Dempsey Rolled and machinegun punched in the same shot, and Yang faking him out with the same kind of punch that lost her arm later, were just wonderful, and I want more.

This portion of the blake and yang v adam fight should spell out to the audience that adam wasn't nerfed like even when blake is trying to fight adam unlike at the fall of beacon she still is not strong enough that makes sense and yang fighting adam solo makes sense. since blake did some damage to adam like that fall from the trees also the obvious fact that adam was hit by a motorbike. So that weakens adam enough so yang can keep up with him. What I'm getting at is the point is that blake and yang can't beat adam separately but by working together against him they now have a chance but a good portion of the fanbase just says adam was nerfed
[As for yangs robot arm not being fully destroyed by adams attack what did tai say to yang when he showed her the arm i think it was something along the lines of "ironwood got the top scientists in atlas to make this prosthetic"]

Adam's Moonslice always touched the target, but this time he only hit the air, do you expect the kinetic energy to not spread out? Or do the same damage multiple meters out of reach? Semblance or not, Moonslice is a tool for Adam to use his semblance.
Wait, did you actually think his sword get suddenly longer? Or it can shoot kinectic energy slices?
All he does is storing up the energy in his sword and then sending it in a direction with his semblance.

There are several comments saying that years have passed. Has this been confirmed by CRWBY? Because we have only seen the seasons go from Not Fall in Vol 1 to Fall to Winter at the end of Vol 3 to Spring (or Summer) in Vol 4 to _maybe_ Winter in Vol 6. The news reports in V4C3 imply that while months have passed, it hasn't been more than a year. The charity event doesn't refer to anniversary either. Ironwood's comment that school will be back in session (We know from V2C1 that they're on a semester system) means that it's either close to the start of a summer semester or a fall one. We also know that school still hasn't started at the beginning of V5. From then we don't really see a drastic weather change until V6 when they start traveling to Argus. We know from the first episode there was only a 2 week gap between the end of V5 and the start of V6. But they're also traveling north, so the snow could be more about where they are than a seasonal change.
It looks like its only been a year, not 2 year or more. What am I missing here?

I don't think the Queen Lancer thing could have really helped that much after the train crash. Remember that summoning drains aura like all semblances and they had no idea how far they were away from Argus. The storm would have made riding it impossible and once the storm and the Apathy encounter was over it wasn't long before they found their way. So a LotR comparison seems less apt. If they had done the V4 thing of the rest of the Volume being travelling, I could see it being a plot hole but they wrapped it up quite quick. I'll be honest though, the thing that is bothering me is the stealing a airship plan. If Argus base is cut off and sending messages via ship to Atlas, why didn't Qrow or Ruby just pass on a message during their next mission to Atlas. To deny that would have just been contrary and I am sure Qrow could have given a coded message like "We have been trying to reach you since Spring, we need your help and knowledge" and I am sure Ironwood would get the message about what they were talking about and send a ship for them. But (no pun) they had to shoehorn in a Mech to hype Gen:lock.
There are moments I really sigh at in RWBY and tolerate rather than enjoy. Oobleck using Zwei as a baseball, Yang turning a bandit into a loony tunes character with a punch and this damn mech. The paladins were great looking, this looks awful and as I said I tolerate it rather than enjoying it. Why couldn't they do the signature thing in RWBY and make it look cool and unique, not like a reject Gobot. For me after they shut the gate on RWBY at the end of that episode was where V6 started taking a nose dive, some of this Adam/Blake/Yang stuff is redeeming but even this "We're protecting each other!" made me want Adam to go "Huh, that didn't make any sense?"
One of my rare anti-RWBY moments there, usually I let it all wash over me LOL.

By now you folks all know about Adam's brand. A lot of people seem to think it was just done for the hell of it, or to mark him as property, but I tend to think it's something more along the lines of the old practice of branding and maiming people who are on the wrong side of whatever authority is in power. So "The Scarlet Letter" is an example from a few hundred years ago of branding done to mark someone permanently as a wrong-doer. It was a legal punishment in France less than two hundred years ago.
In older societies, thieves often had a hand cut off to mark them as such, and to make it more difficult for them to continue with their errant ways. It meant they didn't want to bother to just kill you outright, but thought you might have a use in the future, if only to advertise that doing something wrong had dire consequences.
So my feeling is that Adam got caught trying to do something at SDC he wasn't supposed to be doing - stealing dust? Sabotaging dust to make it either not work at all, or work a little too well (explode prematurely)? Whatever, he got caught and someone decided to brand him so he couldn't do it again so easily. While Jacques is a dick, I'm not willing to lay that at his feet without more information on the subject.

I'm thinking it was the action of one particularly cruel SDC manager whom Adam crossed and thought it would be funny (in a sick joke kind of way) to brand him because "hey, Bull Faunus"...not that it was a systematic practice....if it were that systematic and cruel the militant White Fang would have more volunteers than they'd know what to do with...they'd be more like a legitimate mass movement and not just a violent cult.

Yang has a hard limit though, Adam, not as much. Yang has to take damage to herself to send it back, Adam absorbs it through his sword. They can't just go back and forth forever, because her body would definitely give out before his sword would, unless he's using a really garbage sword, which I somehow doubt.

The only thing is, concerning cordovin killing kids, is ... is she? Your assuming the american, and some other countries, making legal age 18. But in some countries it's as low as 14. What is the age of becoming an adult in Remnant. Ruby, at 15, possessed 'the most dangerous weapon ever designed', according to Ozpin and was highly proficient with it. They sparred in classes at signal and at 17 had to survive initiation into Beacon. 15 for Ruby. So what IS considered adult age in Remnant? Not that I approve of Cordovin's actions, but if they are actually all adults, then they reap what they sow and as Crow pointed out, 'this isn't just something you can walk away from, this is the Atlas military we're talking about'.

I agree. it's pretty silly how Cordovin does much more with a missile she catches from a much smaller ship than she does with the mech's own weapons. I really don't like the mech battle as a whole. Jaune points out that the mech is big and slow, meant for big and slow targets, but the characters who have demonstrated excellent mobility, reflexes, and awareness in combat are still getting hit by it. There is no good reason for any of these characters (except maybe Jaune) to get hit in this fight. I like the idea of Jaune double-tanking a hit for Nora, but the fact that Nora was even going to get hit by the swing of a giant, slow mech arm that she should OBVIOUSLY be able to see coming really undermines the whole thing. I see a lot of complaints about the inconsistency of some characters' fighting skills (Weiss, Adam, Sienna Khan) and I have to agree that it seems stupid sometimes how different a given character might be between two scenes as little as a volume apart.

Yang just tanking Adam's Moon Slice with her prosthetic, no matter its material and durability, is complete BS. And the fight with Adam is what really brings down this whole volume for me. One majorly botched character and story progression. Yang shouldn't have been able to keep up with him, never mind hold him off. @@SirsMadamsEntertainment Well, I would think that prosthetic/synthetic/robotic limbs, same as Cinder's Grimm-arm aren't/can't be protected by aura, so Yang's semblance could not have absorbed the brunt of Adam's attack like that, but even if it was her semblance, a single, non-powered slice from him was enough to severe Yang's arm, before. Now, she might not have been consciously using her semblance, then. But, even if she was ready, this time, Adam released a powered-attack and she just shrugged it off. There's no logic to it, even within the loosely defined terms of the show. But, that's not really my main problem with the fight. That was merely one BS moment. On top of several others.

@@MattHunX Adam had one punch from Yang stored. He redirects energy. Are you trying to say that Yang's own arm couldn't take one of her punches? One of her punches spread out to the size of Yang herself? And we know that prosthetics can hold aura by the same reasoning that weapons(including food used as weapons) can. Cinder's Grimm arm can't hold aura because _it's Grimm_ . You know, the only "living" thing that can't generate an aura? Also, the moonslice that took Yang's arm _was_ charged. We know that at minimum Blake put several bullets and a few slices worth of energy in, not to mention that Adam had been fighting before then for an unknown amount of time. We also know that Yang had been fighting for the time it took Blake and Weiss to get from the fairgrounds to the school - including at least a few Alphas - and had a low aura, unlike here where she came in fresh after throwing a few hundred pound bike on his head.
Sorry if this sounds angry and flippant, but I'm tired of people using the same arguments that were disproven and debunked the day after the episode came out _nine months later_

    • @theycallmebad
      @theycallmebad 5 лет назад +4

      Ahem.
First of all, we don't know the material used for Yang's new arm. Tai stated that Ironwood's top scientists made it, implying that it's state of the art and thus special.
You're forgetting that weapons can be used as conduits for Aura, my guy. It was stated back in volume 1.
"I would think that prosthetic/synthetic/robotic limbs, same as Cinder's Grimm-arm aren't/can't be protected by aura" and THAT'S where you're wrong. You can't compare Cinder's Grimm arm to Yang's robotic arm; Grimm have no souls, thus they can't use Aura (again, volume 1, listen to Pyrrha) but Yang's robot arm is now a part of her; just like weapons, armour, and even other items (like the food fight in volume two with the bread) it can be covered by Aura and thus not break.
"While those using robotic prostheses such as Yang Xiao Long and James Ironwood are apparently able to shield their artificial anatomy with Aura, those who use Grimm transplants are not, due to their aforementioned soulless nature." - the wiki page.
It's very bold of you to go on a rant and decide for yourself what is and isn't plausable.
As for Yang holding off Adam, you're clearly downplaying her if you think she shouldn't be able to hold her own, especially when she found out that his Semblance works like hers. She's the physically strongest of the team (she kept the mouth of a giant Nevermore open with one arm for goodness sake) and after her talk with Tai, she doesn't rely on her Semblance anymore and is quite agile and dodgy, and incorporating kicking to help throw Adam off.
And you're forgetting something else; Yang's Semblance allows her to dish back the power twice as strong (as Tai stated) and it can build up the more damage she takes, but Adam doesn't. He can only dish back the power equal to the amount he managed to absorb through his sword, either in smaller bursts or all at once, meaning that the power he sent back at Yang wasn't strong enough to severely hurt her.
The more hits Yang managed to get on him, the less energy he could absorb through his sword and later dish out. Granted, Adam is swift and manages to block some attacks, but still.
Yes, Adam cut off Yang's arm, because that attack (gods know how many Grimm/huntsment attacks he blocked up till that point, including Blake's gunshots) that DEPLETED the remaining Aura she had in order to sever it physically. During this fight, Yang still has her Aura up, along with a special robot arm. Don't try and downplay that. Yang didn't "shrug off his attack" she took it head on like a champ despite the Aura drainage. You might want to rewatch those earlier volumes and the WoRs.
You mentioned in an earlier video that Adam should've fled again or whatever, but really, who wants a repeat of volume 5? "Oh, Adam fled again. Oh no, someone is stalking throughout another volume, I wonder who it could be?" Come the fuck on. Adam's story had to come to an end and give Blake and Yang some closure.
And, really? I have to question your desire to go out of your way just to moan about the show. Normally people would stay away from the series if they didn't like it, but you keep coming back and belittle and nitpick everything. Volume 6 was awesome, how could it leave a "bad taste" in anyone's mouth? Yes, volume 1-3 are awesome, but clinging onto Monty's work is not gonna do anything.
