Student financial aid applicants experience issues with new FAFSA form

- Changes to the way students apply for federal financial aid has had an impact on who can apply and when. The new Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA) form, which became available December 30, is only available at certain times during the day.
The U.S. Department of Education is referring to it as a “soft launch,” while they work to resolve the remaining issues.
The long awaited updated has brought lots of questions from families and students trying to navigate the financial aid process. And with the December release, the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) worked through the holidays to understand the new form to better assist students who will need to fill it out.
“We have met with the school systems, we have met with hundreds of nonprofits that help students access these funds, we are already providing them with the information that they need,” said Dr. Sanjay Rai, Acting Secretary for the Maryland Higher Education Commission.
MHEC handles over $100 million in financial aid annually, yet not everyone knows about this agency.
“We have people that call us and say, I've received an email from you, and it says MHEC. Are you real? And it's amazing, because, yes, we're real,” said Al Dorsett, director of MHEC’s Office of Student Financial Aid.
And they’re working to ease the transition to the new FAFSA form, however, it hasn’t been without bumps. The application impacting financial aid for the next school year is only available periodically. And the frustration is apparent on social media.
“Let me assure them, to all residents of Maryland, we will do everything to make sure they have access to these funds,” said Dr. Rai.
Until functionality is fully available, MHEC is educating students on the changes and what they'll need to apply.

To anyone having issues with the form, I suggest submitting a paper form. While the paper form will take longer to process, at least it will be submitted successfully.

im up to the part where you need to complete Student Unusual Circumstances and after i click no it just resets and makes me do it all over again like it was stressing me out

They don’t even answer the calls and when they do, they can’t help. My daughter was not able to create an account and nobody helps
Exactly! I am unable to create account; I spent 50 minutes with an agent and was told they tried every troubleshooting they knew so keep trying
SAME!! I can’t create an account because it says that I have an account with my number, but when I try to “log in” with my number, it says I don’t have an account
OMG same problem here. Two weeks trying to create my account. Every day after to fill out all informations and to try submit a message says an unknown error has accurred please try again later or close all browser windows and start over.
My daughter was able to create her account, send me the parent invitation, with a little struggle I was able to create parent account, now I’m stuck on the part where I have to send my wife and invitation but it doesn’t let me when I input her information.

@@fearlessplayer9 I was able to completed, and finally everything got processed but my daughter is still waiting to hear back from them to see what help she will get
This is so stressful, I have created my account, my son has already done his part of the fafsa form. I already got the invitation and the problem is that I can't even open the form to finish my part as a parent. When trying to chat with the FAFSA team, it says "it's not available at the moment", then when calling them, nobody answers. They have 20 issues some started since the FAFSA opened in January, they barely have resolved 4 issues out of 20. At this point, I don't know what to do.
My dad is having similar issues. We've tried contacting them to no avail. We also tried resetting his password and recovering his account via all other means. No luck.
I’m at the find the college part and when I already have selected my colleges and press continue it says my application fail to save and is not going to the next slide, please help me
