  • All Is One, a Rockpalast documentary about Orphaned Land from 2018.
ORPHANED LAND is the most successful Rock Band from the Middle East. Uniting people from all religions among its fans, the 5-piece-group from Israel manages to tour the whole world since the 90s.
The band’s musical blend of heavy guitars and oriental instruments is unique, but what really makes the group stand out is their contribution to the peace idea. As some fans put it „Orphaned land are doing what our political leaders fail to do, unite people everywhere“.
„All is one“ is more than the name of one of ORPHANED LANDS albums, it is the quintets philosophy claiming that all three big religious groups - Christians, Muslims and Jews - are coming from the same origin.
German filmmakers Ingo Schmoll and Conny Schiffbauer visited Israel to follow the band’s path and to get a personal insight view into the musician’s life by visiting the band members at home, getting to know their families and learning about their daily life. „In the documentary we are trying to take the audience beyond the endless discussions about the conflicts in the middle east by taking a far more human approach to it all“ the filmmakers explain.
    German version:

I relate to the part where Muslims talked about liking OL is seen as a blasphemy in the "Muslim" world, I had an incident at home, was listening to OL in my room, to Sapari to be more specific, and then my mother entered the room and heard Hebrew... she went crazy :) this is crazy, I now understand why they never came to my own country, it's so hard to get in.. Much love from Morocco

I'm from France, I blieve in god and peace. I love music, I play and study it, and we should give so much more credit to musicians. Music is the art that connects every other arts, in all music history composers try to connect with other form of arts like painting, litterature, movies, and even religion (even if it's not a art xD). I like to say that I'm a Faun 'cause I love nature and music, I love to walk in the forest near my town, I love to sing metal song, pop songs, classical music also. Humans always wants to put barrier in their minds to say "no that thing is not for me, I don't like it" or "I'm good at this so I don't have to do it". When you truly understand that, than you realise that not all barriers are worth and sometimes this is bad. It's is difficult to let your mind free of barrier 'cause society, your childhood, your memories are a part of you and tells you that some things/people are bad.
We need to accept that we are not perfect, and we will never be it, but life is here to give us a chance to be better, and that's a fight that you'll never end, but it's a worth fight 'cause fighting makes you live. That's what Kobi did, before he hated arabs but he fought and realise that he was wrong and now he wishes only that everyone can do the same : reach the barrier that we and/or society put in our minds.

Wow. I am from Italy, sometimes it's easier (to not suffer) tryin' not to see what happens on the rest of the world and pretend such hate between populations and religions is happening on a different planet. Orphaned Land helped me to completely change my perspective on this and and I am so grateful for this documentary, this is so interesting and source of deep reflections. I recognize peace is an utopia, but I also believe than Music like their can make so much to unite people while politicians divide them. Thank you for this work and thank you Orphaned Land for what you do and for your Music which is food for soul in every possibile way and is changing the lives of many uf us.

Unfortunately, the hatred towards Israel comes from biblical times, and it's spiritual, that's the only explanation why it's so hard to change islamists minds about Israel.
Orphaned Land became my favorite group since I first listened to Unsung Prophets and Dead Messiahs, a friend of mine recommended it to me. Being a fan of Genesis and Blind Guardian, this album amazed me from the first time I listened to it, not only because it featured my favorite power metal singer, Hansi Kursch, and one of my favorite guitar players of prog rock, Steve Hackett, but most of all because of the beautiful middle eastern and hebrew melodies. I love Israel and the Jewish people and this music really touched my soul in a great way. Orphaned Land instantly became one of my favourite groups. Love from México!

I would agree with most of the things that Kobi said in this documentary. I'm an atheist and probably, in that matter, more inclined towards the logic of Uri, but that's not the point.
However, I cannot override the fact that Kobi seems to be unable to distinguish antisemitism from anti-zionism. He can arguably be against the BDS movment, but he cannot say that everybody who's for the BDS movment is, by definition, antisemite at heart. This makes no sense, because it completely occultate the fact that, like most of the governments worldwide, the government of Israel is also seen as part of the problem. It also would prevents in this logic anybody from protesting zionism (or even questioning it) without being labelled as antisemite. I think this is a big problem. Protesting the tyranny of a government is the aim of the BDS movment and it is actualy peaceful, just like music or art.
Whether it works or not, whether one approves of it or not is a completely other story. In a capitalist world, one of the biggest power you can have as an individual is to chose what you consume. He stated that himself whilst talking about what has value to his mind (a photo vs a smartphone). In the same way, if someone wants to avoid an american product because of the politics this country had in the past years or has right now, it doesn't mean that this person is against every American...
I will gladly buy an album from Orphaned Land (I even went to see them live) because the intend of the said album is to promote peace. On that regards, I have a lot of respect for what Orphaned Land does on the issue. I am, by the way, not in favor or in defavor of the BDS movment. I just think that labelling people who support it as antisemite (people who are clearly not...) does not correspond to reality.

So of course Kobi meant World War 3. Due to the fact that his message in general was so strong, we decided to leave it. In the German version, which you also can find on our RUclips channel, we did that correction, but forgot to do this here. We will try to subtitle the correction here. Sony, the bands label does not allow using actual live sound unless we would pay for it which is impossible for us in terms of production budget. Even if we could pay for using actual live sound Sony would also limit the time period during which we can show the film right here on the internet. Its a shame really, but thats how it is these days. Even if the film deals with very important and serious issues some still only care about making profits

You think there were no jews living in Palestine (i persume you mean the part of Palestine that does not include Jordania). Palestine had roughly the same amount of jews living in there than there were arabs when European jews started to return. Its not like all the jews left and suddenly returned. Besides it was never under Palestinian ownership. They are syrians mixed with egyptians. Its a land for both yehudies and Arabs.

The Symphonic Metal Library And Hamas keep shooting rocets at Israel (not caring they might just as well hit arabs) and commiting terrorist attacks at the expense of their own people. Palestinian government gives good pension for those who kill Jews (euro money). They praise the acts of terrorists and refuse to condemn them. Palestinians were offered even Jerusalem if they would recognize jewish state. They refused. Its unbelievable. Give me one thing palestinian government has done to promote peace. I wont take sides in that conflict, i have nothing to do with it. Both have committed wrong deeds. Some have committed them even more. My dearest wish would be that blood shed would end. Its even more sad when you consider the fact that jews and some palestinians are closest relatives by dna.

The Symphonic Metal Library Their land, just as Israel is offensively defending themselves from hamas and its radical islamistic philosophy. Its not just their land. What is their land was also Jewish land for almost 2000 years before European Jews decided to move there. Before that it was ruled by israelite kindoms. Before that canaanites and like lebanese and some palestinians jews are also canaanites. So whose land it is? Israel has offered numerous generous ways for peace. I am sure palestinians would have gladly agreed but hamas is on their way. I am sure that common folk would have settled the issue long time ago had it been possible. The party that seems to ruin everything with their fanaticism is hamas. Israel surely have their own but unlike gaza israel is Democratic state and hence they dont have all the power. If not west bank would already be full of settlements and be patt of Israel. Gaza would be one big hole in the sand. Yet i am optimistic that Ishmael and Israel will one day be able to be one family again. And i think its also realistic. Mabe there is no need for war but i am afraid it will only happen when a bloody war is fought and people realize it wasn't worth it. World is a sad place.
