Thanks Shannon - this was my best day metal detecting ever! Woody and I have been back to this location many times and have made some awesome finds. I'm sure we'll be back there again soon. Thanks for watching, buddy! HH
Sweet new permission! Love the layout of those large properties. Really some wonderful finds fellas, congrats, best of luck on the next hunts there, Double-D...
Wow TD! You sure found a great location there. Great finds on this hunt and I'm sure there will be many great more finds there for you. Best wishes on your next and enjoy! S&C
great video matey and what a beautiful house and gardens some great finds good luck on your next hunt there that place should keep you going for a while HH and best wishes,,pat
That Infantry button with the eagle is indeed infantry. It would have belonged to a North Carolina Infantry solider. Good hunting guys keep it up. As a Civil War Reenactor/Historian I love seeing other's into history.
+Barry Weaver Thanks Barry - everything we've recovered from this property is on display at this old plantation home. The local Historical Society holds meetings at this location. We've been able to add quite a few items to the display case since this video was shot.
The religious medalion is called a Miraculous Medal. The front says "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee." The back is the Cross of Jesus and the "M" for Mary his mother. (The stamping of "1830" on the medal doesn't necessarily mean that it was minted in 1830. The medal could be much newer than that, although it's obviously fairly old, considering that it was buried in the ground. Even a brand new one will have "1830" stamped on it, as that's when the concept of the medal was devised. I have one that's about twenty years old, minted in the 1990s, and it has "1830" stamped on the front.)
Thanks for watching, DD! Woody and I are already making plans for our next hunt on that property. It's a metal detector's dream! Short grass and lots of history. Love this hobby! Good luck to you and Mia on your next hunt.
Fortunately, my friend Woody has great connections with plantation owners in the area. You can look forward to more videos like this in the future. I think we make a pretty good team, but that hunt was unbelievable! Thanks for watching and best of luck to you both!
Thanks Wes - The Ultimate 13" coil really helps me cover a lot of ground at sites like this. It's slightly heavier than the stock coil, but I use a Doc's Swingy Thingy to handle the weight of my E-Trac no matter what coil I have on. Can hunt all day in comfort with that rig. I hope to post our 2nd hunt later this week from the same site. We've practically hunted this place out, so I'm not too worried about the vultures - LOL. In the process of lining up some more old plantation sites as well.
Thanks Mroldtyme - that was my most favorite hunt last year. We're still hunting there too. I'll upload a video later this week from that location. Amazing place!
Yes, I believe the thimble is sterling, but it's not marked. We'll do a wrap up video of all our finds from that spot when we're finished hunting it. Thanks for watching, Tulsa! Good to see you back!
Thanks Dan! I named Wheatie after the first find on that property. That clip didn't even make the video because of all the great stuff we found. It was a 1944 in PERFECT condition. Wheatie is a permanent fixture in my finds pouch. We're already making plans for our next hunt - stay tuned! HH
I live in alamance county Mebane to be exact I went yesterday close to alamance battlefield and found Minni balls little buckle's and some other things idk what they are
This is the famous Ashland Plantation home in Henderson, North Carolina which is now owned by friends of ours. Built in 1740 by Samuel Henderson, father of Richard Henderson , who financed the opening of the Cumberland Trail into Kentucky. Frontiersman Daniel Boone was an employee of Mr. Henderson and used to stay in the home. We have stayed in the old slave's quarters behind the house and recently stayed in a small cottage that had been moved onto the property around 1950. My wife is a psychic and has encountered a number of spirits on the property including the famous Mr. Boone (she says he wasn't a pleasant individual) and a slave girl in the slave's quarters who was trying to escape her pursuers. Apparently the civil war soldiers would march down the road in front of the property.
Indeed! That property is loaded with some great history. It was an honor to have recovered those items. Hopefully, they are still on display in the main house. Thanks for commenting!
Outstanding hunt man! I love my Etrac and I think it is the best silver machine on the market today. How do you like the 13" coil? How does the weight and balance feel to you. I got the 10x12 SEF coil on mine right now and it has done very well, but it adds to the weight. I love the site! Better watch out for the vultures lol, they will be flying in now that they know the place has relics. Kepp it up brother and come on up to VA and hunt some 1730 sites!!

Love the Scottish music in the intro! So many Highlanders settled in N. Carolina ❤️❤️. Did you find anything in the slaves quarters?
Coins of Napoleon 3 are very common to find in france , the W on the coin means that the coin is manufactured at Lille .

You won't find a makers mark on that Confederate block I button
Why are they called Barbie dimes?
They are commonly called "Barber" dimes because they were designed by US mint engraver, Charles E. Barber.
You must be aware that what you are doing, if in fact you are doing this, and it looks like you are, digging up war remains is a criminal offence?
