The more and more videos I see of people keeping games sealed lets me know that in about 10-15 -years the market will be flooded with sealed games because everybody and they momma is on the same mindset of keeping games sealed for investment purposes. Especially when a lot of these games are mass produced .
That’s a great point of view. I agree with you on the saturation. For me it’s a hobby. I never got the chance to collect my childhood games because we would trade them into GameStop not knowing they could have some value. Had I known I would’ve kept my entire GameCube collection. But I think with the switch, physicals are on an entire new level but it’s too convoluted with developers like limited run and super rare making those unique collector physicals.
good stack of games! i will say that im not a good speculator so take my advice with a grain of salt haha. but i don't know how well the Pokémon diamond a pearl games will age. the first print run without the day one patch are basically unplayable. if you haven't heard about switch cart revisions you should probably familiarize yourself. pokemon BDSP and also many many other games have see cart updates through print cycles. the base base has a gold serial code on the back and ends with 000. i have a 005 which means it includes the day one patch and all updates and dlc on cart with out an internet connection. while the eshop stays open all this wont be a problem. but as soon as it closes games wont be able to update. which i think means game that are complete on cart are going to be super desirable. almost all the xenoblade games, first party Nintendo games have later revisions so those will be considered the superior copies. this is something the world really doesnt know about yet or that people take into consideration when buying or selling games.
That's a great point! Those cart revisions will more than likely throw everything off for those games, along with day 1 patches. Definitety something I will consider moving forward. Thanks!
I missed the grim game for 20$ . But got 3 copies of dq monsters from GameStop for 52$. They been selling on eBay for 85$ . The Layton game went up to 100 for used copy. I’m gonna sub in hopes you make shorts to let us know when the sales happen. Thanks for posting!
Right there with you my friend. I only randomly decided to pick up a Switch finally this year. Been "stuck" with Steam and PC for years....since like PS3 days. lol Anyway...you know yea! I would add you on Switch too, seem real cool! Hope you play MHRise, may see you in the field...or Wilds sometime too. lol Jokes and fun aside, yea. Collecting much as I can too...even Limited Run stuff. Heh. Best to ya~!
My advice collect items that rarely are seen on the platform such as rockstar games and 3rd party games. IMO and anything first party that doesn’t sell well. Like that princess peach game will be banger. Also don’t sleep on cooking mama it will be a gem in a few years.
I fucking Love the switch. I am collecting so many “collection” physical games and carts that have retro games and remakes on it. I love how it has cartridges. I hope they last until I die.
@@TopShelfHunters idk how it is for you in the US but here in europe the packaging for Tunic is so nice for 45 euros : the cartridge, instruction booklet, a map etc...anyhow, enjoy!
Love collecting but lol I can’t kid myself I’ll pop em in and play for like and hour and then switch it out so I try to just play something beat it then move onto the next if I have a stack it seems impossible
Dragon ball fighters Z will be low and probably won’t ever go above original retail price as that game sold well and is available on all platforms. I can see Pikmin series go up over time but won’t be much more than their GC counterparts. Those Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes won’t sell for that much even new. The games that will hold their value and increase will be both Pokemon Sword and Shield complete with DLC on cart and also recent releases of Violet and Scarlet with DLC on cart
My personal stance as a game/switch collector, I'm not banking on ANYTHING to go up in value. I'm mostly collecting because 1. The thrill of collecting is definitely real, having that physical set is awesome 2. having fun with my collection (some games I do leave sealed, but I really only stick to what I want to play. I just leave some sealed if the event happens where I don't get to it on my backlog and it goes wayyyy up in value.) and 3. Just having fun with the hobby in general. That's what this is, after all. A hobby. My 4th and final point is I love collecting physical media. They can't take it away from us once we buy it. I want to boycott going fully digital. It has it's place as does physical media. I'll support physical media until the day I die.
I think the perception that Atlus games always go up in price over time is no longer applicable. I always hold off on Atlus games now because they drop fast in price and usually go low in price too. Even a lot of the PS2 Atlus games are not that expensive except a few outliers. Just my two cents 😊.
You buy all these regular sealed games to never open them?thats a hoarding collector. If its really limited then ill keep it sealed but mass produced games is alil crazy, unless you plan to play in 10 years ahaha...
I eventually open them when it's time to play them. I don't care to keep them sealed at all. I am interested on how the value will fluctuate in the next 20 years on them but I'm not banking on them or anything like that 😂 just a fun hobby
I feel people are collecting for the wrong reasons these days ( of course that's my opinion) and are more focused on value and buying to resell and retire on later, instead of actual gaming and playing and enjoying the games. It's ruining the hobby for a lot of people.
I have to agree with you. While I am somewhat collecting for value, a lot of it for me is feeling like I missed the boat with 3DS. With Switch, I am taking advantage where I can and building out my collection for years to come. I do care about value, but I care about possibly playing these with my kids in 10 years.
Just buy 1st party games if you're buying for investment. You're wasting your time and just lying to yourself thinking you'll get around to actually play these games.
I don’t agree with that assessment . I buy games right now because I know physical future is not promised . It’s not that we plan on playing that game today , but it’s nice to have it if we ever feel like do playing it’s good we made the decision to pick it up . Collection is fun . Quit hating
In general Buying and collecting Nintendo switch physical games 1st party, 3rd party or indie is already an investment. Most games are 💯 complete in cartridges and futureproof, who cares you can't play the game now, it was physical Nintendo can't shut it down in the future. And also we all know Nintendo physical games holds so much value in the future.

Still with enough time price will increase 50 years from now 😂

The team17 version of Blasphemous in Europe goes for around 100 euros whereas the limited run version goes for over 150 euros
Regarding OG Games who did Grinch...their games are kinda lowkey good. The bratz one and the bluey ones are lowkey cozy games

you're doing the game case wrong, the top of the games are suppose to be where you get your finger in, not the bottom, where you can damage them.
