► Potentially Rare & Collectable Switch Games
I have a huge selection of Switch games and most have been bought for the future, but what makes a potentially collectible Switch game. I look for 3 elements. 1) Print run, ideally they'll only be run off once to limit the quantity in the market. 2) Publisher, the publisher should be very popular and generally the JRPG experts like NIS America, Atlus, and Square Enix do well here alongside KT. 3) Popularity, it may seem simple but if it's not from a popular series of games or popular franchise don't bother, however I'd never go for triple A titles that are mass produced.

Dude! This was great! Totally agree with all your picks here. Also great to hear someone uses thegamecollection for games! I'll share your video later on my community posts from my gaming channel and hopefully that'll bring some more people over! There is a really good UK RUclips gaming community! Subbed!
Hi mate, thanks for watching and the comment. I'm completely addicted to finding collectables for the Switch at the moment so had to make a vid lol. The Game Collection are great and that deal over Christmas of 5x points was amazing. Must admit I was a little disheartened by the views/reaction to my first few vids considering the time they took to make so do appreciate the kind words.
@@one_more_turn nah man I know the feeling when I started off, but the video will pick up! I'll get it shared later today so that'll help I hope! :)
If we have a whole bunch of people trying to speculate how to make profit on entertainment items, it sometimes makes me want to be less part of that market. It's just kinda weird and doesn't make sense to me.
You don't, it's made to enjoy not resell
@@Rossbrian1 I don't what?
This literally happens with everything what are you even talking about? How is it weird?
Nice to hear your predictions on what may go up in future. I think it's always a safe bet that collector editions, rpgs and niche anime games will go up. I'm not so convinced on the current crop of Fire Emblem games besides the collector sets. They may go up but I don't think they'll reach the levels of some of the earlier titles as they were far more niche at the time. I think it would be a safe bet to say any Fire Emblem prior to Awakening will hold a much higher value not counting collector sets.
Great vid man. You've earned a sub 🙂👍
Thanks for watching and the comment. The JRPG's and Animes are great as if you get them fairly discounted its at least something you can get most of your money back on in the future, thats what its mainly about for me, not having worthless games on the shelf and wasting cash. I don't expect the Fire Emblem standard edition games to shoot through the roof either but I do expect them to hold value thats why I have spent more on the collectors editions. I never got into DS as a console so my first FE was 3 Houses.
Great video! As a fellow Switch collector, I quite enjoy seeing what other collectors believe will be worth acquiring. Can’t wait for Volume 2!
Love these kinds of videos! 🙌 keep on collecting👍🏻
Thanks glad you liked it will be looking to do more if they perform well 👍
Another great video mate! Although I don't collect for the switch i'm always interested to see what other games interest people.
Thanks Mitch, most of my pics are market and value for money led. I want a large collection but only buy when I think it'll at least hold its value in the long run. Would love to own the next 'Castlevania' :)
Awesome video!!! Really enjoyed listening to your future predictions!
Thanks for watching and the kind words, much appreciated
Great content mate just subscribed just started collecting for switch so interesting to see what to look out for
Thanks Alex appreciate that. I collect for all sorts but there'll be Switch games drip fed in most weeks and I am planning a part 2 for this series too :)
Another good video fella, have subbed.
Never really thought of games concentrating on speculative value, I get games as part of the sets I'm going for or actually just want to play. 😉👍
Thanks mate, this is why I love gaming and collecting especially, we all have our reasons and what drives us to do the hard grind. There's certainly less guess work with your style that's for sure :)
Looking forward to seeing more of your content fella 👍
I might start looking at collecting for the Switch soon as there will undoubtedly be a lot of hidden gems for it like other consoles New Sub thanks to Mitch. :)
I avoided Switch for some time because I didn't like the fact popular titles held such a high value in comparison to Playstation and Xbox, felt I could get more bang for my buck but then dawned on me they may not go down and this could be the most collectable console ever. But it is all guesses and predictions which is why I try make my collection pay for itself so theres no risk but thats part of the fun
My man! Earned a subscriber! I've got to be at almost 250 Switch games...got a lot of rarities and collectable stuff too. I may eventually do videos...who knows. Eventually I'll let you know that exact amount of physicals I have after setting everything up. I love your collection! 😉
Hi mate, thanks for the comment. Thats one hell of a Switch collection whats your rarest game? I'm collecting for more than just the Switch so not been able to get anywhere near your collection but will get there :)
@@one_more_turn Rarest? Probably either Transformers Beast Wars on N64 or Ju-On the Grudge on Wii.
I do have Book of Demons. Horgihugh is a random one, Ghost Parade, or Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: Burst Forth Choro-gon Breath...longest Switch name ever. I haven't got any of my games online; I may eventually but I like finding stuff out and about in the wild.
Fantastic recommendations for my favourite games console 🤩😎
Thank you buddie I wound up buying lost in the dark after seeing your vid but sealed and will keep it that way
There are physical copies of the Pokemon Sword and Shield Expansion packs. They are already expensive, I highly recommend picking them up
Hey Figsy surprised to see your comment as long time watching of your videos 😊 thanks for the tip that’s a very good shout!
those are the only one expensive for sword and shield. Or the 2 pack with golden steelbook or potentially those 2 separate normal steelbooks. Normal Sword and Shield is still printed for all regions and the amount they will make will anchor that game for a long long time.
As for Let's go Pikatchu or Eevee, only the special packs with special controller included are valuable. Otherwise those games were several times on sale already as low as to 40 CAD brand new.
Cant believe you found SOR anniversary Ed in CEX, your lucky!
I know mate can’t believe they haven’t worked out it will be worth much more than the standard yet then again they let steelbooks go for std price too
@@one_more_turn unbelievable!!
Seeing this video 9months later, and you nailed it with AI The Somnium Files. It's already beyond MSRP, at least 20 pounds above release price.
have the collector's edition ai nirvana initiative, it retailed for I think 119.99$ usd unlike the typical 99.99$ that most collectors editions of non low print run games for the switch. But spike chunsoft games and especially CE's def will rise In value quite a bit. Check out what the 1st AI somnium files CE on switch is going for now
Will be interesting to see what happens to the price and always intriguing how the US vs UK compare...In the UK only one copy of the original AI collectors has sold in past 3 months (for £120 I think) but not the data there to go off right now.
I have the entire super rare and limited run library on switch and the super rare one is by far the one I'm the most proud of. The quality of games and print are on another level to LR..additionally I just beat Deaths Door and was genuinely suprised at what a charming well written and fun title it was...soundtrack is insane as well.
I love deaths door! I played on Xbox but it’s such a good game.
@@AK2WI Amaxing game!
@@BadMMAMath after this comment I bought the ultimate edition lol
If there were less cross gen titles between ps4 and switch, i'd pick up more on switch. Only have about 50 physical titles right now. Handful of these titles I already grabbed on intuition. I did pick up a copy of cuphead on ps4 and switch but will keep my switch copy sealed.
Upcoming suikoden remaster will prob end up being more sought after on switch compared to ps4 later on. Eiyuden chronicles too....
Yeh the whole cross gen thing is hard to follow and know which console will be worth the most, some games on PS3 for instance go for serious money while the exact same on Xbox 360 is a few quid and vice versa. I am doing a video in the coming weeks on the next consoles to collect for before its too late which touches on this type of thing.
Cuphead is an interesting one I hadn't considered. Great shout on suikoden one for the shortlist!
The Caligula Effect 2, The Caligula Effect, Dusk Diver, Dusk Diver 2
Sound market speculation. I would also add the Caligula effect 2 from NIS.
Yeh thats one on my list for a future video as on the shelf :)
Nice Stack! I only have 2 Rare physical switch games so far, I believe I will leave them sealed ✊
135 days no alcohol 🏆
Thank God for Andrew Huberman! 🏅
Thanks mate, I'm almost 4 years now (no alcohol, not my age :)) and its amazing how much more time you find both sides of the day...keep it up! And defo leave those rares sealed, if you check the market for 'retro' titles the ones that go for above £30-40 they can go for double if sealed!
Congrats 👏.
I miss Cex. We had them for a short time here in the United States.
Really I didn't realise they came to the US, knew of them in Australia and Europe but thats crazy.
Bayonetta 1 Pegi 18 is incredibly rare! 1 just sold for £150 on ebay. I can see this doing crazy numbers down the line
It’s Bayonetta dude… no
Astral Chain on Switch looks amazing, which proves the Switch isn’t as “underpowered” as people think not bad for a system with a so called “lack of power”, anyway nice collection, some of these games are really good like the World ends with you series.
Managed to pick up pokemon gale of darkness cib for 60 quid on vinted. Definitely my best find on there
Wow that's awesome, I hadn't even heard of it, super rare!
I remember I got my switch at release and thought I can't wait for two/three years time when the game prices come right down....why have they never come down after all this time?
The next console release could be very telling, if its a 'new' Switch and not just a pro version of whats out (which is the current rumour) and they they don't make it compatible with current Switch games there could be a drop in prices then before they climb back up maybe.
I feel the games exclusive to nintendo and will never appear on PC will have pretty good value
Just recently picked up Eastward fantastic game! Its currently £18!
That’s a cracking deal where’d you find that price for others who may be looking
@@one_more_turn the online shop The Game Collection . Also Amazon are selling it at that price.
Stern pinball should be on the list as you can't even play half the game unless you have a physical copy
I would only pick up these games if they are cheap or you have the budget to hold and sit on the games. There are distributors that get companies to rebuild/reprint games as far back as ps3. They tend to do titles that collector's are after, so the value of them can go down drastically. Even limited printed games can/have been reprinted by other limited game publishers or made into a retail release. Get what you like if you can so you don't miss out but will probably be many years before switch games really shoot up in price. Remember, a lot of expensive games can be titles that are horrible and didn't sell well
Yeh goes without saying you should only spend what disposable income you can. On the reprint side, its not very common in the UK which is my market, it happens but they end up on Ebay mainly and not that many available on a very small niche set of games...I have shown the prices I bought at because I believe they will hold their value, certainly not fall away too much if at all. And the latter point is very relevant, those sniper titles are hard to predict.
well the digimon collection is 19 dollars on amazon
As mentioned, reprints are not common in the UK which is my market can't comment on US as its not relevant to me. If the reprints is what your referring to. Also worth baring in mind Heavenly Sword goes for serious cash in the US on PS3, in UK its £2.50 lol
@@one_more_turn Reprints are not very common, as you say, and quite random (due to licensing issues that often emerge down the years). Even for the NA market I don't see it that often.
The important thing is to get the *original* release! Reprints can always be identified and are generally down-valued.
You have a nice list of recs there. People won't go wrong with those.
In my humble opinion, Megaman Zero/ZX/ZX Advent collection deserves a mention.
Which site are you using to track the prices on?
Depends on what you mean, the prices shown are what I paid in December in the UK from CEX, Amazon, Ebay or other retailers. Any graphs shown are from Price Charting and are for PAL copies (thats how they list them, it just means the PEGI version) and when considering the market I use a number of sources from CEX to Ebay listings and sales and of course Price charting for an over view of longer term history.
Awesome video man
I have y's for the master system, complete in box! Happy days!
Wow what’s that worth? Must be a fortune!
@@one_more_turn funnily enough i was at work, buying switch games and i was looking on my gameye app collection and noticed it said £80! I was like that can't be right, low and behold its going for around £60-80 mark! I'll take that on a £1 charity shop find from about 20 years ago! 😂
I’m not surprised that is really rare…those JRPG’s are seen as more niche even now but back then they were unheard of really! That’s an insane find
One correction. The Ys games are not turn-based, they're action jrpg's.
I think Nier Autómata will be a rare game in the future!
Agree its one on my list as have it sealed.
All the pokemon games in the US... still goes for $30-40 all day every day for the switch as used. Most switch games never go on sale. It's rare as hell... I waited for a sale on Octopath Traveler so long it went out of stock for half a year.
I just picked up octopath traveler off Facebook marketplace from a guy for 25 bucks. Crazyyyy deal.
Is "Let's Go: Pikachu & Eevee a remake of Red, Blue & Yellow for real? I was around for gens 1-5, gen 6 killed it for me and I tapped out of the franchise ever since however, I have a big love and spot in my heart for Pokémon Yellow Special Pikachu Edition with my clear atomic purple GBC. Any fans out there can suggest if this is worth my time and money?
I enjoyed it, but it uses Pokémon Go mechanics. You do go through the region of Kanto like red, blue, and yellow. I would highly recommend watching some reviews and gameplay prior to buying.
All the anime games like fairy tale and overlord will also be rare as they have a limited print and very niche.
Fairy Tale is already quite expensive and one I hadn't even seen but not sure which game you mean by Overlord? Unless its US only
your wrong on the overlord anime game that there only a mobile over game for and never one on the switch at all
@@azurekite3870 nope it’s real I own it. It’s a Asia import game. Go look up Overlord: Escape from Nazarick for the switch.
Unless you’re planning on selling these games, there’s no point to leaving them sealed.
I believe TROVER saves the universe will be a collectible title given the current situation with a certain individual
Thanks for the game recommendation and comment. I personally see sealed games the other way, no point in opening unless I want to play. The games that turn rare become much more inflated sealed over CIB.
Great video.
The switch has about 500 games I’ve never heard of that are cool and guys will keep sealed and sell for 10,000 dollars each in 10 years
There are sooo many game when you consider all the limited print stuff too and those are released in such small numbers will be interesting to see what it all looks like in 10 years time
@@one_more_turn I wanted to buy the final fantasy 1-6 pixel remasters but it’s limited release and now I’ll not be able to get them
Yeh I'd have liked that, I also really want Chained Echoes but will only buy if the collectors edition becomes available.
Subbed due to chicken fillets and shared your vid to a few others
Thank you guys :)
Liked and subbed
Thanks Matt much appreciated
Sushi Strikers, Famicon Detective Club, Monkey Barrels, and Working Zombies will be very expensive in the future, they are Nintendo exclusive and they are very rare
Sushi Strikers is on eBay for $15 or less. The other games are expensive tho
@@TaxxCollector buy it while it is cheap
Where are you ginge?
Shin megami tensei v
Those prices are cheap. Try collecting for ps vita.
I can only imagine, games seem scarce for the Vita
deaths door wont be worth Anything. its dropping in price every week. what i find to be the most interesting and worth seeking out are the expensive and rare standard edition of games because its being rated on its own merits as a rare title not because of all the extras it comes with. retro, classic, collector editions are saturating the market and are often just not worth buying. iam more impressed with the value of worms w.m.d than iam with catherine special edition.
Don't have many of these but... Yeah not gonna get many of them either. I was/am a retro collector. Had not purchased a new console since the original Xbox (always stayed at least one generation after) but the indie releases on the Switch + portability of the system sealed it for me. Will say though the Switch seems like it'll be a B to collect for in the future thanks to the limited releases (besides the normal games disappearing). I went into the Switch thinking I wouldn't fall into the collector's mindset again (purchased a Lite a few years after release). Now at close to 500 games... SHIT!
Wish they'd stop with the limited release stuff though and just release games properly in bigger runs. Not wanting to support LRG either, thanks to their stance on leftist child mutilation and whatnot, makes it even more annoying.
I don't know why you would want to buy any of these games for Switch hardware or speculate on games. Most of them have better steam versions or play better on Yuzu.
You have missed the point of the video, it’s in the title. And talking about the switch hardware is relevant to every single game ever made, and yet they are the highest and most consistently priced games in the market.
Mans comparing apples to oranges. We don't care about the Steamdeck and its digital games. We talking about physicals. Also what on earth is a Yuzu
@@paulishpaul yuzu is how lazy/broke/whiny/third world thieves play their stolen switch software
Give me switch any day. I'm not paying for something that tries to play ps4 like games but on 20fps and one hour of battery life. I see zero sense in the deck. Rather wait on switch 2. And i rather own my games then having them on a acount.
@@aryinc these people who support digital are exactly what the WEF wants. You will own nothing and be happy.
I hate this. Only buying games as an investment and not playing them.
Taking games off the shelf for genuine gamers.
Stop crying and grow up. Thats life
Nobody cares for rare games because Mario Kart is the only good switch game. 😅 As the price of bread and milk has gone up more than rare games lol
There’s more than just Mario Kart for good games on Switch, someone hasn’t played anything on Switch besides Mario.
