There is very much to learn when watching specialists treating the injuries of these players. I know the feeling and how slow the recovery has to be in order to not re injure an area.
Hit by car had shoulder injury. Did rehab exercises 4 times a day, iced, tried to keep range of motion good. It took about 6 months to get back on court. Another 6 months for injury to heal so I didn't hear clunking in shoulder. Very lucky to have shoulder at 90+ percent of what it was previously. Thiem seems to have the best of everything so with time he should return to playing well.
Wrist injuries always take a long time to heal, he is young so recovery is quicker. I had one many years ago and if my wrist feels tired , I stop playing and doing push ups.
This is great - but also I hope Dom knows why that injury happened as if you dont fix the cause it might happen again! Lets think about how hard and fast he was hitting those Forehands - probably wrist could not handle this! Same happened to Delpo right? Maybe time to rething the technique or slow down with speed a bit as there are limits to what human body can handle- after all we are not robots yet and thanks god we are not!!! All the best Dom!! 🎉
I had a wrist sprain from too much repeated shock from my racquet strung too tight. It’s been 3 years.. it cracks every time I rotate it & will get swollen or agitated if I’m not too careful. Helppp
I wouldn't say his technique was necessarily deficient but in combination with the effort he put into his shots it caused harm in the long run. He packed a serious punch for his size, and it partly came from his strong and extensive wrist snap where he really used the joint's full range of motion. He tore his flexor retinaculum, a structure that holds the flexor tendons in place while the muscles are contracting, especially in a bent position. It happened on a rather awkward shot where the ball was already out of play and his timing therefore not 100% correct but the injury was probably more caused by repetitive overload.
How do you do daily tasks if you are right handed? It's just things you take for granted like washing yourself and wiping your bottom. I know it sounds silly but it's true.
LIKE all great players Thiem puts everything he got on the court. what's the chance he switch to 2-handed backhand to save the wrist for longer lifetime career.
I don’t think that I would prolong his career, because his forehand and kick serve especially are pretty heavy on his wrist too. Look at his technique , there is so much wrist movement , that gives him the power and spin.....
@@justusbeweel1109 It would, he hits at least 1/3 backhands and he hits them very hard. 2hd backhand requires very little of the wrist on the racket hand - it would literally remove 1/3 of the punishment that wrist takes. Personally I think he'll spend most of his career fighting wrist injuries.
Absolutely zero mention of nutrition- it plays a massive role in injury prevention and recovery. I dig Thiem and I’m a big RF fan. But it pains me to see what they put in their bodies given the fact that they’re surrounded by so many “knowledgeable” high paid employees. I get it though - it’s all about money at the end of the day and this video is sponsored by Red Bull. #forksoverknives #medicalmedium
His biggest downfall was his wrist rehab, using HOT CANDLEWAX on the skin that's supposedly speeds up recovery... NO. Hot = inflammation! Cold = GOOD. He needs to SUE THAT DOCTOR who told him to use hot candlewax. He should've iced that wrist again and again and again.
He played one until he was a teenager. But the problem was on his forehand side, backhand was completely unaffected and actually became his stronger shot since.
I absolutely love how he plays. Hope he gets back to full health soon!
My favorite player after Federer! Such a gentleman and a fighter on court at the same time.
I hope he gets to where he was soon.
Great little docu, can't wait to see Thiem on the highest level again
Welcome back, Dominic!!! Tennis needs kind, matured, handsome, professional players!!!

Domi we your fans love you and we are glad that you are back again on the biggest lands of the world ❤
so inspiring! Hes sadly lost 7 matches on the bounce but thats what it takes! He'll be back soon
Good luck DT! please recover well and come back really soon, Miss you!
Great insight! And a road Dominic has taken! Glad to know he'll be back on the court soon.
story reminds me of the delpo . wishing him all the best !

love me sum thiem glad he is bouncing back from his injury miss him on court
Welcome back, Dominic. 👏👏 You are one of the favourites at French Open.🏆. Go for it. Best wishes.
For those who have never gone through rehab for a joint injury, it is very painful and involves a lot of hard work to get back to normal.
Im having two hip surgeries

And even then it doesn't always go back to normal
indeed, even after a year, it's still very painful
Wow what an athlete! For sure it will take the highest level of daily mental and physical endurance to excel as a top athlete.
He will be back to the top
HOPE TO SEE THIS COOL TENNIS STAR BACK IN ACTION SOON 🎾
one of my faves, such a fun talented player....best !
Seems like a decent guy. Looks like he has a world-class support system. Big fan of one-handed backhands, and his white-socked feet. 0:39 2:03 9:10
I'm a fan and hope to see him again play!
wowww...this is it, can't wait any longer.
Are you serious? You have not been able to turn off notification on your phone 🤣 But it's great to have him back
He really maxes it out when he plays. Hope it holds up OK as he's a great player.
Great documentary
Grand slam Champion and very kind and good guy
Class Player
Prayer for you love You take care
Quite a test of character! He’ll come back!
Looking forward for DT to recover soon and playing matches
Dominic, you should use natural gut in the mains and a soft poly in the crosses, this will be super good for your wrist!
I remember Richard Kraijcek and Thomas Muster did the training for a long injured time...
Wrist injuries always take a long time to heal, he is young so recovery is quicker. I had one many years ago and if my wrist feels tired , I stop playing and doing push ups.
that's why you're wrist is sore
Yes could be. Not all wrist injuries are created equal.
I feel bad for Thiem. A humble guy with a big heart. I wish him the best. If I were him, I would switch grips, go to a full western.

Good points and I think you are right.
Hi I played table tennis, and now i have to have surgery on both hips
That's a problem with one hand backhand, it puts a lot of stress on the wrist. He will likely reinjure it.
@@deliciano1294 the injury happened on the forehand, not the backhand. So different cause to DelPotro's!

What caused the injury if someone can explain ?
Technique ?

What is happening at 7:15?
150km of aerobic training in 3 weeks. So that's how they can play up to 35 sets in a grand slam in 2 weeks.
Of course - its countless hrs of training..😊
How do you do daily tasks if you are right handed? It's just things you take for granted like washing yourself and wiping your bottom. I know it sounds silly but it's true.
you fix the wrist by changing the whipping motion to more of a shoulder stroke.
Yes but i think that extra wrist snap was how Dominic could generate such power despite taking the ball quite late and playing behind the baseline.
the psychological damage went too deep
I would want to know what caused the injury, so that I didn't just do it again.
he had the best single back hand ever
Let this be a lesson to those of you playing with a Pure Strike and RPM Blast.
It has nothing to do with that dumby
Turn off notifications, that shit confused me 😂

@@justusbeweel1109 Vic Braden book no need for wrist ,,
his backhand is fine for this injury but his forehand is the side that is struggles
double hand back hand is boring. single backhand comes in like a flash!
Was not his injury was so serious
Да нахер он нужен!!?? Пусть идёт в такси работать!!🤣🌺🤣
cant win a match now ;(

I'm sure he didn't eat crap and drink Red Bull if that's what you're implying.
squats will damage his back,,,, No a supporter of it or the running around the track,,, Good luck mate IMHO Vic Braden book talks about the wrist,,,
Squat is actually a very good back exercise if done correctly, especially for tennis because you need that position very often.

where in the video do you find that info?
@@leminhvu9382 Huh? Did you even watch the video?
He has the best care money can buy. What makes you that confident you know more? Are you a top hand surgeon in the world?
Icing makes sense early on and intermittently for pain management but does not give a better outcome or make any difference in the long run.
Should have just done surgery. Still could do it if he wanted to.
this was the most boring documentary i've ever watched!
