    What I'd like to see ... is a modern tied arch design. Something similar to the Lupu Bridge in China. It would just look right in that spot.

      That's exactly what I'm thinking too like the Beautiful Lupu Bridge

      Interesting that you know that bridge haha! I was from Shanghai and as a kid I went by that bridge a couple of times. I think my grandfather was actually somewhat involved in the design (I think the steel structure part).

    Hopefully a self anchored suspension or tied arch bridge with full shoulders and breakdown lanes will be great.

    Take a note from the new (kinda old now) sunshine skyway bridge in the tampa area they rebuilt that bridge with super redundancy coffers and wider span to lessen the collision chances

    The federal government or state (whoever) should pay for the bridge materials. So they should bid the labor to assemble it.

    Sounds like an open checkbook. 1.7 billion will likely just be a deposit.

    Suspension bridge and make reinforced barriers in the water surrounding the structures that will be placed in the water

    It should have a 100ft gap in the middle. 100mph recommend limit. And everybody gets to jump the gap across. And ships get to pass through easily. 😎

    $1.7 Billion. U would think they could do a tunnel , if spending so much.

    • @G6JPG
      @G6JPG 2 месяца назад

      That would be 4-5 times as much.

      Hazardous loads are banned from going through tunnels, so bridges or more complicated routes will still be needed for hauling those.

    Congress has to fund the bridge to get the ball rolling and the shipping company and it's insurers will have to reimburse the federal government the taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for something that the ship did

    It should be a suspension bridge. Any other bridge would be vulnerable to another collision.

      Even those have pillars!
      There are, also, two types of suspension: the "traditional" type, with arcs of cables between towers/pillars and the roadway hung from those cables, and the more modern "cable stay", with lots of parallel cables going directly from the roadway to the tower(s).

    $1.7 billion is nothing compared to the money wasted on Ukraine.

      The Iraq war was scammed onto the american people based on weapons of mass destruction that never existed, was done so by a republican president. What we got out of it a 20 year war at the cost of $1.8 trillion.
