I remember my grandma darning socks from when I was a kid. She didn't have a darning egg, she just used a burned out light bulb. I haven't done that yet but feel like I could and it would be honoring her memory to do so.
SWAK = sealed with a kiss. At least that's what it meant back when we used to do Valentine's cards in school. We wrote that on the back of the envelopes. I salute your use of the size 0 needles. I have one sock on that size now and cannot bear it. It's my first time I think trying the size 0 and I don't like it. My tension on size 1s is fine, but I wanted to experiment, see if the smaller size needle would make a difference. It most certainly did: in how much I dislike knitting on them! Thanks for the book review. I have a lot of books for socks, but not this one... and it looks like it could be useful.
