- Today, its time to split and stack all of the Ash and Maple that I cut in last Friday's Video. I'll show you how I'm making the process as efficient as possible and what I use to do so. Check out the surprise I found in one of the splits, and watch as row 2 begins to take shape.

Good morning everyone
Your wood yard always looks so organized at least til it gets away keep up the great job and videos
Hey Brad! Great work in the woodyard that day! Thanks for having us over! Like the system you had going there! great to hear about the 4k achievement at this point of the channel 💯👍. Andrew from NB :)
Another good day of, productive!
This year I found two big screws buried inside pieces of cherry I got from a tree service. Like yours, they were buried deep inside the wood. LOTS of staining. I'm sure he thanked his lucky stars he chose another spot to cut, lol. I've also found some of that landscaping rope completely grown into a birch tree. Someone had it tied off when freshly planted, or to correct a lean, and then just said screw it and never took it off... Pain in the butt to cut through- even bigger pain to split that piece. It looks like normal woven rope on the outside, but inside is a big bundle of parallel strands of heavy nylon- like fishing line.
I agree with you on ash and maple being a good pairing. They compliment each other nicely. If it's the soft variety, it adds more flame to brighten up the fire. If it's hard maple, it extends the burn time and produces more hot coals. (I do this a lot for grilling) BUT, Hard Maple takes a lot longer than Ash to dry. They both produce good smelling smoke. As an added bonus, they both split nice, too. Very common combo around my parts, as both species are very plentiful.
Cool to see how organized and efficient your operation has become. Great work.
Good job Brad!👍👍
We do it the same way Brad! Split until the trailers full and then stack! It seems to give the splitter a break and also helps break up the repetition of each different task! Thanks for sharing. Great lookin wood yard👍🏻👍🏻🥃🇺🇸
Thanks buddy, I agree that switching it up keeps it from getting monotonous
Good video, Brad. 👍
Good Mornin' Mr. Brad, I too am looking forward to a few more hours of daylight, then I might have some time to play a little too.
Yes I can’t wait
The coolest splitter on RUclips also love the Beard
Thanks so much. Appreciate that
Nice looking stacks.
You'll get your 4k. And great job splitting & stacking. Have a great day
Morning brad hope things are going well for you plenty of firewood got to keep the customers happy it looks like you are going to be busy this year with all your firewood deliveries you deserve it you work hard enough anyway untill next time be safe.
Your product should be in demand. It’s very consistent in both length and size when split. It’s good to see someone taking pride in their work. 👍
Thank you very much
Keep up the good work Brad love watching you see you next time
Thanks John
I would imagine your largest surges of new subscribers are when you have family helping in the wood yard.
Yes I do think many enjoy that. They are fair weather helpers so you should be seeing them again soon
Ash, maple, oak cherry is a good hardwood combination. Not a bad system splitting into that utility trailer and moving it to where you need it.
Man that little trailer is the best,,, you can go everywhere,,,none of my business, but i would modifie the side,, so they fold all the way down,,,, you would have acces easy
Morning Brad , great video . Man , almost to 4 k . That is so awesome .
Hello Brad, fun in the woodyard before the rain, Take Care 🚜👍🏼🪵🇺🇸
Hey Brad good system you have going there. When ya gotta move it you just gotta! I also find it nice to stack out of a trailer saves a lot of bending.
Great setup, I need to get more organized. Have put myself in a bind more than once. Have a Safe Day
Great move Brad. Been with you from the beginning. 🤙
Thanks so much!
Another great video. Look like a good workday. Hope you hit the 4K soon.
Good looking wood Brad. Looks great all stacked up. Great video.
Thanks Turk
Hey Brad, I like the setup!! Splitting into the trailer and then stacking it seems to work out well for you.
Thanks bud
Hi Brad! Thanks for another great video. I like to stack my rounds too as I cut them. My reasoning for it is it’s safer to work around as I’m not stepping on or over them as I cut up the trees. And secondly I think it makes it more efficient for me to split. I can pull the splitter right up to the pile. So I’m moving as little as possible while I split. I try to put the large rounds on top so I’m not lifting them off of the ground twice. Thanks for showing us your process and sharing your reason as why you do it that way. 4k will be here before you know! Stay safe and have a good day!
Thanks so much Chris. I appreciate your comments and your support!
Stacking your rounds prior to splitting I’ve found is the best way to try and stay organized and safe
That splitter makes fast work out of those piles. Like I said before ur gonna get as big as Chris at in the woodyard :)
Lol I don’t have the time to devote to his level but it would be nice!
Good morning from a fellow Marylander! I wish I had the room you have for your wood yard!
Good morning Frank. Stay dry today
Brad I run a tree service and you would be amazed at the stuff that I've found in tree trunks. The worst one ever was a pepper tree removal and the people filled up the center or of the cavity that had decayed with concrete And they built a full rebar cage on top of that . The cavity was 3' in diameter by about 10' high. It took my crew one day to remove the tree down to the cavity and another 3 days for them to Jack hammer all that concrete and the wood the shell that was around the concrete. What a nightmare of a job I'm glad I charged themBy the hour for all the concrete removal because I did not know that I had a rebar cage.
Holy cow! That’s crazy
solid work. - I have been slacking down here - just got another big white oak .... stuff is heavy
I’m trying to grab another gear. Demand will be high next fall
Spring ahead is coming for sure. Beauty stacking job Brad. I just published a video about cost savings of firewood. Curious how my numbers compare to yours in the states! Cheers.
Why don't you put some sideboards on that trailer. Maybe you could get a third of a cord on there. With some sideboards. Just a thought. Perfect little trailer for around the woodyard.
Thanks Stanley. I’m thinking about doing that. Mentally it would make me happier lol
👍👍
Funny all your talk of "face cords". I know a face cord is 1/3 of a cord and you have explained it many times. Here in Oregon, it is actually illegal to sell firewood by any unit other than cord or portion of cord. I seriously doubt that anyone actually enforces the cord law, but selling firewood by face cord, truckload, etc. Would technically be a violation. Bottom line is as long as the customer is happy I don't see a problem. Happy splitting!
Yes it’s the same way in Maryland. 1/3 cord, 1/2 cord, full cord etc. A face cord is 1/3 but I guess technically you can’t call it that lol
Maybe it is just me, but I would have stacked over the Locust and sell that bin to someone that you know wouldn't complain.. But that is probably the lazy side of me..😁👍
Hi Brad, just got my first splitter. So rewarding. What's the going rate for a third of a cord of hardwood in Md? Can you explain your rates or which video of yours to watch?
Hello! Last year I sold a third of a cord for $80 delivered within 10 miles. I was on the low end since I was trying to build a customer base. However, I had planned to raise slightly this year, but now with the fuel prices being so crazy it is going to be more substantial. I’m planning to do a video real soon if my pricing and changes. Congrats on your splitter and thanks for watching!
I’ve been watching your channel, for the life of me I can’t remember the brand of splitter you have?
Hi Robert, it’s a RAM splitter
FINALLY! A wood guy who uses that four-way splitter head to reduce his work time! Now you have to figure out how to transfer the cut chunks from the trailer to the drying racks without eating up the time you saved at the splitter. Don't get me wrong, I am not being critical - at least you're outdoors, getting good exercise, and you are adding value to a product. But in a day when everyone is trying to figure how much $$$ they make an hour selling wood they've had to fell, buck, split, stack and dry, the effective use of one's time during each step of the process can mean more in your pocket at the end of the day. Just sayin'.
Your restocking is coming along nicely. Gotta love that auto cycle on your splitter. Any plans for row 5 or 6?
Lol, if I get all 4 filled before it starts to empty out again, row 5 is a possibility but not sure I’ll get there
