Joaquin Phoenix and James Gray are a match made in heaven. Two genuine, highly intelligent and funny human beings and artists. With a deep passion for film - a pleasure to listen to. And Joaquin..when he smiles..my heart skips a beat ( no not the Pusha beat though...)
That was a great interview! Loved Mr. Gray's voice impressions lol & Mr. Phoenix was just pure fun to watch & that chewing gum sure was lucky lol! ;-) Anyway, great interview! :-)
I understand what Joaquin is saying when he talks about how he hates doing press. Though we all love to watch him or any actor talk about there craft, he is being asked these questions all day long with different media outlets. And it's the same questions over and over again. He thinks of his acting as a job just as we think if our career as a job. Let's say you work in an office and that is your main focus, just as acting is Joaquin's main focus. Then you go around to places where you are asked the same questions over and over again. You'd get tired and board. Now imagine doing that over and over again for 17 plus years. On top of that, about once a day, you get asked stupid questions that have nothing to do with the movie you are promoting.
Thanks so much for hosting this and sharing it! My favourite Director/Actor! Can't wait to see it. So sad to hear about Ric Menello. Makes me wish all the more that the movie is hugely succesful.
James Gray seem like such a caring and open director a genuine nice guy and Joaquin is obviously very comfortable with James.

Joaquin always looks like he suffers through these things, and he always answers "I don't remember." I love him anyway.
Poor guy is breathing so fast.
