Yeah great fun 🙏 I use mine all year round .. I have the coupe and yes, it's gets very hot in there, especially in the summer to hot really with the glass roof . Perfect in the winter .. I think I've seen -12 back in 2009/10 ... even went through heavy snow back then with no issues. The car has paid for itself many times over, and I still enjoy it to this day best purchase I ever made way back in 2005 £8k new 👍
Had my 2003 smart 600 for 3 years now. Bought it for £450 as spares or repairs as it had the misfire and needed a engine rebuild. I did this myself at the cost of around £400. I have only done around 10000 miles as it was first used as my second car although these are around built up areas on 30-40 mph roads. Only faults have been a noisy water pump, split boost pipe and a core plug leak. It's never failed to start though and has driven fine. MOT fails have been a fractured coil spring, that was the first MOT after I rebuilt the engine and it's passed the other 2 with no problems . I don't think I will ever sell it.
Biggest issue is the engine is small so doesn't produce much heat and as its at the rear any hot water for the heater is exposed to the cold air. This combination means in winter it takes many miles to get heat into the cabin. The heater pipes can be insulated to improve this. This was also an issue with the latest model, we owned a new forfour briefly and it took ages to warm through.
Excellent little video, it will be my first winter with my 2006 Smart For Two Passion Cabrio, not had a frost yet but it has been colder and showed a couple of gremlins possibly had the airbag light lit for a bit until I switched the ignition off and on and then later the abs and Traction control light again a switch on and off of the ignition and it cleared. Its now being my default daily driver as it always puts a smile on my face.
They're actually pretty good little cars - I had exactly this model with the cabrio roof, and I loved the little thing. One night, I hit a deer while doing around 60mph in it, and the thing was still able to be driven home. Strong as anything. (And yes, front headlight bulb replacement is a total pain in the proverbial...)
remember a neighbour having one and struggling to reverse into his bay when we had a layer of snow on the ground so i walked over to the car and just pushed it into the spot.
I use my 451 coupe to commute daily. Just town driving. Biggest worry is the bloody potholes. I put a half size cheap Halfords (size small £12), car cover when the leaves are shedding or a frost is due. Now looks like an overfilled bin bag has been left in the drive.
Did 150 miles a day 5 days a week for 18 months back in 2003 in a brand new smart car, It was great fun and 100% reliable and averaged about 55mpg and if i remember correct was about £25 to fill it up.
It’s ok, it’s only parked like that to allow the other car to get out of the garage, it’s not the best at hill starting on a steep hill so to save the clutch we park it across the drive :)
Tell me about it - I used to own one, and hit a deer in it while doing around 60mph. The deer did not survive but the car did, and amazingly it was still driveable in spite of a lot of damage to the plastic cladding around the front. The guys at the bodyshop where it was repaired said that the frame underneath had no damage whatsoever.
I've got a later model 451 diesel, I've owned it since it was 5 months old, it's a 2011 model, I use it everyday for work, my daily commute is 60 miles round trip, 80% of my commute is motorway mileage, I get a return of over 80 miles per gallon as an average, it starts everything day on the button, it does everything I need it to do, I live in the centre of town, I can park it near enough anywhere, would I change it? Not unless it dies, it's just a superb motor, I've covered nearly 160,000 miles, i have driven it on long journeys without a hitch, mine is my only vehicle so it gets used all year round more or less, I have got a motorbike, but as I've got older, I've become more of a fair weather rider, the bike also only averages 55 miles per gallon and uses the expensive unleaded fuel
Those roads look like the ones where we are. Is that going towards Presteigne way? as the roads look very similar. Very bumpy, uneven surfaces, bevelled roads. I dont drive, but if you're around kington and you see 2 on mobility scooters, it's me and my daughter. You're coming from kington Way towards Presteigne. Roads are awful on this road.

They are fabulous little things!

I live in Key West Florida. I own a Smart. It's a great little car. Thank you
They are great! Hope you are safe!
I couldn’t be more happier with my smart car.

My dashboard (same car) saves me money on Christmas lights . (Phil)
It would be a happy little car if you used the brakes when you park in stead of letting the hedge stop your pocket rocket.

Very good video 😊
They are insanely strong for such a tiny car!

2 week ago, where are you in the uk to see cold weather, its beautiful right now nice and warm.
I’m on the Welsh border :)
Tiny car but like a rolls royce compared to my motorbike lol

Correct!
Buy defrosting spray...is vey cheap and effective. Try,
And crumbles at the first hint of contact * an accident *
I was only thinking yesterday about Smart cars and that I haven't seen one for ages. Do they still make them?
Unfortunately not! They have recently re branded and started making crossovers!
I think it would be a good idea to know what a hoover can do to keep your interior clean.
😂😂
Really want to buy one of these... Just hear so many horror stories about how unreliable they are and over 50.000 miles it's finished...
That's complete crap. They are great cars
@hannahgibbons7436 That's good to hear. Been wanting one for nearly a year but the stories I'm hearing about them has been putting me off.
Was that the timing belt squeaking?
Auxiliary belt :) they are chain driven engines!
2:07 please don't do this again as it scratches the glass
plastic does not scratch glass
@@mayneplaysgames2601 plastic not, but the dirt underneath the ice definitely scratches glass.
De icing spray?
De icer... Been around for years@@TelcirisWarlock
@@fostermajor9591why use that when the cars heater does it for you! Duhhhhhh
