    Welcome to Morocco. The answer to the 3 cups is: in our culture we always add a cup/glass to the number of people. In this case 3 for 2 people. The reason being, if someone pass by, you invite him to share with you this moment. It’s hospitality simply. ;)

      My interpretation for the 3rd cup would be to dilute and mix up your tea in case it's hot to handle because sometimes tea in a glass can burn your fingers

    Alright guys, a tea tip from The Moroccan bikepacker. 😁so the third tea cup is to mix the tea with the sugar, you can pour the tea in the cup and pour it back to the pot, that's how you mix the sugar with the tea, instead of using a spoon to stir it. So after that you still got the other 2 cups clean and cool, all you have to do then is enjoy your tea!

      @NomadsTrails  5 лет назад +2

      Haha that makes sense 😃 So in a way we are doing it right, since we don't use sugar ✌🏽 😂

      @@NomadsTrails The extra glass is also there to adjust the sweetness of the tea. Most of the time the tea is brewed and "modestly" sweetened. In the end though they'll put more sugar in the pot that sinks to the bottom. The person that serves the tea first puts a bit in a cup and tastes to see if it's sweet enough. If not, they'll pour tea in a glass and pour it back in to the pot and repeat this a couple of times. When the the sweetness is on point the tea is served in the other glasses as the the used glass is too hot.

    What were the culture chocks you mentioned?

    • @NomadsTrails
      @NomadsTrails  5 лет назад +14

      Hi Johanna! thank you for asking! :) first of all i need to mention it was not any dangerous situation or harassment or any thing like that. We have felt very welcome in Morocco and very very safe! Of course every country has a different social culture. For us was a bit chocking to see how women do a lot of work, like cooking, taking care of children, taking care of the farm, washing clothes and so on. What we can do while we travel is defiantly to respect other cultures and their way of life and learn from them what we would like to learn :)

    • @imax2000
      @imax2000 5 лет назад +9

      @@NomadsTrails I see that you have crossed during your way here so many rural or countryside areas where women has a big role in daily life, both women and men work hard in these areas, women do alot of housework and men do the same to to harvest the farms and going to local markets ( selling their goods and sheeps etc ) to get money. And I think this is not a Moroccan thing only, when you go to countryside of every country even in Europe you find out how both men and women do alot of work.

      @@NomadsTrails It's good that you addressed this, as I supposed it may have been some kind of harassment. By bringing it up without being specific it allows people to think the worst. The reason I watch these videos is to inform myself of problems if I am cycling in a place - sometimes there are wild dogs, stone-throwers, dangerous drivers etc. and it's always better to be informed than not, even if it can be interpreted as being negative or critical.
