@@JohnEvansChaoseed I guess if you view it as her swapping 78 and 50, that'd be using the commutative property. But because there's actually a subtraction in the middle, you can't actually use that property directly (it's defined for repeated application of the same operator, not a mix of them). So you _do_ gotta use the fact that subtraction is not (or left-) associative to determine that it takes priority, put (mental or real) parentheses around it, then swap (78-49) and 50. _Then_ you get rid of parentheses (they've served their role in grouping subtraction during shuffling) and notice that you can now swap 50 and 78 due to commutativity. ...Ooooor just treat subtraction as addition of negative numbers and never have to think about such things again. But yeah, seems like if we were to get technical, it was addition's commutative property and subtraction's lack of/leftness of associative

For that math question, once there’s no BODMAS or PEMDAS or whatever in effect, it’s done left to right. I guess Polka is still not used to that aside from Fuwawa. 😂
That's not how Pemdas works when there aren't ( ). "+" doesn't have priority over " -" and they both have the same rank. Honestly it's more important here that you can change sequence however you want as long as you don't fuck up the algebraic sign and remember to take them with the number that you are adjusting.
PEMDAS/BEDMAS gives the same priority to addition and subtraction, therefore you go from left to right, (78-49)+50. PEMDAS/BEDMAS goes in priority from parenthesis/brackets, exponents, (division/multiplication) then (addition/subtraction), you then solve the problem from left to right.

just turn the 49 into a negative number and do it in whatever order after that
After taking enough math classes I do that by default. It took me a second to realize how Polka messed up

Polka's error was to separete the - from the 49. It's -49+50, which is the same as 50-49.
I would just like to take this opportunity to praise my Polka for getting a number for the answer, and not “Madagascar”. So smart.
