Hi Richard I’m a kinks fan but I only have the village green society.. it’s a crime I know ! 🙈... thanks for this I’ll use it as a reference point .. funny that the kinks albums didn’t sell ..I’m certain I’ll buy a few kinks albums in 2020 .. have a great weekend Richard 👍
Hi Rob, I'm sure you'd love Face To Face, Something Else, Arthur and Lola v The Powerman! If you see the compilation album The Kinks Are Well Respected Men, I urge you to pick that up. I forgot to say it includes non album EP tracks as well! All the best, Richard
Hi Richard !!! Hope you're doing well my friend !!! Great great stuff !!! All I own is a Canadian release called "KINKS-SIZE" + compilations like "THE KINKS GREATEST HITS", "GOLDEN HOUR OF THE KINKS (vol.1 & 2), live album "ONE FOR THE ROAD"... Wish I owned a collection like yours haha cos I love The Kinks !!! I will have to buy their stuff one day or another (especially their albums from the 60s + early 70s) cos they are definitetly one of my favorite bands of all times !!! Cheers !!!
Hi Richard.Fabulous video, great to see and hear about your collection.I only have 2 kinks comps, one on Pickwick called Sunny Afternoon and the Kinks collection double album, which is superb.Love to get some of those 60s and early 70s studio albums, but I never see them in the wild.Local record shop had Village green uk origin mono and it was £150!..(far too rich for my blood, sadly). I have a few of their albums on CD inc village green, something else and the one with Rainy Day in June on ( poss my favourite song of theirs). Thanks again for showing, look forward to your next video.Take care,Rob.😉
Thanks Rob, original pressings of the Kinks albums are rediculously expensive. All of mine are 80's re-issues which are also getting quite pricey! Have a great weekend - Richard
Morning Richard ☕️👋🏻, let me thank you very much for going through your Kinks collection, for some reason they are lacking in my collection 😱😱 I know! ......it’s not that I don’t like the Kinks, heck I grew up w their music, so when I go to buy some of their music I just get so confused that I walk away from them, so again thank you for reviewing helps me a great deal...have a good weekend - Lis
Good afternoon (now) Lis! Face To Face or Village Green are good places to start. Your collection NEEDS a few Kinks studio albums! lol Enjoy your weekend :-)
Another Great collection. By coincidence someone put their discography on a USB for me late last year and I’ve listened to them all twice. My favourites are probably Lola v Poweman and Muswell Hillbillies. I was surprised by how good the 80s ones were when I’d read they aren’t that good. They are. Sleepwalker is great by the way. Least favourites are probably Percy, Preservation Act 2 and Phobia but even they’re not bad. No mention of Down All The Days from UK Jive? That’s my favourite from that album. You never showed or even mentioned The Great Lost Kinks Album though. It’s quite good too.
Lola v Powerman and Muswell Hillbillies are excellent choices. I've never owned The Great Lost Kinks Album. Unfortunately it was never released in the UK. I'd like to get it on vinyl though I suppose it would cost a fortune! Many of the songs however appeared as extra tracks on the CD reissues of Village Green, Arthur etc.
That’s some collection you’ve got there Rich...... I just never seemed to find any Kinks albums either in the racks , in the boot Sales or indeed when I had my own record shop. For such a well know band they really must had sold nothing at the time for hardly any original copies to be available 10-20 years later? I picked up a CD boxset of all the Pye era albums , but I picked it up when I had the pub and again didn’t really have the time to sit down and appreciate 6-8 unknown-to-me albums all at once , it’s opened but practically unlistened to ...I must remedy that , you’ve inspired me.
Cheers Dai, the originals of their 60's albums are hard to find. All of mine are 80's reissues bought new at the time. Our local record shop had a seriously beat up original of Arthur, the cover was chewed and the vinyl was like a cat's scratching post. He put it online and graded it as fair / poor and still got 25 quid for it! Was the boxset you picked up called Picture Book? An excellent round up of their 60's stuff
Richard McCook ...it’s called “the Pye album collection” and it’s actually a box of 10 CD’s , issued by Castle music in 2005 , I’ve got it down off the shelf and and gonna try and plow through it today.... I think I might start with the later stuff and work back to the start
I agree - the first two albums can be distilled down to an amazing EP. Same with the third.. though Kink-Size and Kinkdom are fantastic. Then every album is perfect until Preservation Act 2. Kelvin Hall is not great and I think the screams are overdubbed. I have a Kinks video in my playlist (they are my favorite band). You can actually watch Soap Opera/Starmaker on YT (it’s terrible, but I adore the album/songs). I stop at Misfits (though I have them all up to The Road).
Bought the Kinks mono box set, which is all their Pye albums (had no 60's stuff on vinyl, so was worth me getting it). Done, I think, in analogue and sounds great. No frills, well presented at a good price. If only Floyd and a few others could take note before releasing overpriced, overblown box sets that need a mortgage to buy!

Hi Marc, it's great to hear from you again! Yea, the 60's and the early 70s are without a doubt The Kinks best period!

Low Budget was the Album that introduced me to the Kinks. Still a favorite

Hi Richard slowly catching up with your videos. That is a great collection of Kinks albums far better than mine.
That’s some collection you’ve got there Rich......

@@davidheafield1436 let me know what you think
Cadillac - from the album Bo Diddley is a gunslinger 1960
Cheers!
Great showing! The U.S. ban was absurd. Would love to have a few more of theirs.
Hi Jeff, I totally agree, the US ban was absurd. I hope this video helps you to decide what to get if you want to pick up a few more of their albums

Hi Kris, I honestly think an excellent double album could be made of the Arista years and beyond and that would be enough.
Bought the Kinks mono box set, which is all their Pye albums (had no 60's stuff on vinyl, so was worth me getting it). Done, I think, in analogue and sounds great. Hi Shaun, I believe there was a nice singles comp included with the original albums in the boxset?
@@CookieMusic43 Yes, it's the reissue of the 'Black' album, which was the double album comp from 1970 and is various singles and a few odds and sods.
They also did some excellent eps. How many records do you actually own or do you live next door to a musical library.
