I remember this game from when I was a little boy... right down to the animations for the opening and closing ceremonies. Looks like the game was either way more difficult than I remember or I was just better at it.
I can remember it, too. For some reason i had to think about it today.... and yep, it WAS freakin´ hard. At least back then, almost impossible to beat the times :D
@@Tsotha Oh christ.. that is a very, very long time ago. I think I was like bad at the cross country/Biathlon stuff, definitly sucked at the ice skating event. I don't really remember exactly. It was a very long time ago.
It was never bugged it was old fashioned copy protection doing it's job to ruin your game. Problem is there were legitimate re-release copies that bypassed the copy protection but the code to check if you had bypassed it hadn't been removed and so it still ruined our game intentionally. I believe it also deliberately made you fail Ski Jump if you went over a certain distance.
Brings back such fun memories! One summer my brother and I played this almost every day. Seed skating, downhill, luge. Epic game play for the 90s. The ski jump wipeout where it sounds like they're cursing 😂
@LilD2nd yes, it was second layer of copy protection. It is possible to find the version with original exe, where you need to use the spinning paperwheel to get the code for running the game. Then it works properly. There are even more copy protection glitches (biathlon and ski jumping).
@@LilD2nd yeah part of the issue is there were legitimate re-release copies of the game that were released in the early 90s that bypassed the protection but they didn't remove the code that deliberately hijacked the game if you bypassed it. The re-release copy I owned as a child has both the unaltered binary and altered binary on it.
Omg... Watched dj slopes doing his California games history and I remembered this was the best the games video game ever... and he didn't mentioned it. This games graphic are so pleasing and unique
14:08 Speed skating was bugged and stupid. I thought it was my version that had that bug, it seems like it was released like that. How are you supposed to do a good time?
Now that was a serious damn fine game back then. Those memories.
That’s true
N. Harken, the nemisis of my childhood.
My childhood is rapresented by MS DOS games...this was one of my favourite with Prince of Persia, Goody and Commander Keen

I remember being good at some events, but others were goddamn impossible to me.
@@Pretend3rA out of curiosity, which of the events were you good at which were you bad at?

Still the best olympic game to this date tbh.
100% agreed. All I want is exactly this game, like 100% exactly, except with modern graphics and physics.
@@104thironmike4 i feel you..
Ive played this a tonnes! So hard buttonmashing that my dad had to buy a new keyboard!
Damn i remember playing this in the 90s, my dad had it on his computer! Tnx for the upload!
TFW this tune starts to loop in your head. Just gotta give it up and listen to it!

...when I destroyed my ENTER key when trying to win speed skating.
My computer didn't have enough memory to play this game... so frustrating.

Why is this happening in speed skating??
I never won it or barely even completed... Glitch?
You need to play the original not cracked version.
@@ondrejchlada1217 what? Don't know if it was copied - it was in the 90's... Was that really a copy protection thing?

This game was AWESOME.
This game was difficult as shit!!!
But i allways won in country cross
We had this game on our first computer in the early 90s. The game became corrupted and stopped working, but I remember the rabbit.
We used to intentionally send the bobsled and luge off the track lol
i miss the days when we were happy with less.

Confused me too, but this is not California games?
Calgames are by Epyx, summer challenge/winter challenge are by Apogee.
That grunt when you take off. Ungh!
