I'm painting my emotions again! I worked on this large oil painting all week in my home art studio. This painting involved a lot of reference changes, research, and soul searching to find out exactly how I wanted this piece to end up. I even got to add more abstraction elements and loosen up from realism in the background! It was a fun learning experience and another larger figure painting under my belt. I'm happy with my progress so far and I'm so glad you all have been here to help me along the way.

Ashleigh this is absolutely beautiful. I love it, there is really something about this piece. If I'm being honest I actually got a bit emotional watching you paint this. This painting reminds when I was going through depression, anxiety, and fear. I masqueraded my pain. No one knew what I was going through. Only God knew.
I cried out my pain to Him and he set me free from depression, anxiety, and fear! He saved me and now I’m no longer in bondage. I can experience true love, joy and peace through him. 🥹❤️
I'm from Argentina, I watch your videos from the beginning and I still think how in art school you were rejected or minimized when your art is beautiful, you transmit a lot in your messages and encourage others to follow, continue! 👏💙
It was really interesting to see the progress from concept to execution in this painting! Sometimes it's fun to just start somewhere on the canvas and let the brush meander, but when a painting involves a defined narrative or symbolism, planning the imagery and subject matter can be an important part of keeping the work on track toward the conceptual goal. Very nice!

Painting sometimes is so magical, so beyond us. We can insist on an idea of a painting but the painting wants something else. When we give up our idea of what we want everything makes sense. Like the gesture of the last pose, for me, fits perfectly with the vibe of the painting.

So, here’s my [unsolicited] interpretation of this beautiful piece… The “two-faced” subject is revealed as having feelings incongruent with the emotional state portrayed by the mask. The gold of the mask suggests worth or purity. The crosses suggest fidelity, humility, or even conformity. Other features, like the trailing white splines, suggest maturity or wisdom. The subject seems dissatisfied with this portrayal of their inner self.
