I love love love this convo! As a black queer woman, this conversation was so validating. Especially, as a black queer woman that spends a lot of time in white spaces as a school teacher in Texas. Being invisible in heteronormative spaces is one thing, but to also experience in queer spaces is just ugh!!!!😩
Also want to add! The quality of this podcast is chef’s kiss 🤌🏾I found your podcast a week ago and I’ve been hooked! Referring it to everyone! The quality is there!!! You are a dynamic duo and much needed voices! I am praying for this to turn into what ever you are wanting it to be! Love your content!
So much love from America!🇺🇸
Seeing the title card pop up at the end gave me a thought...have y'all thought of updating your brand photo? (I think) this year makes it 5 yrs of the pod but I feel like you're both 2 completely different people now compared to when you started and having something fresh to symbolize who you both are now will be a nice way to celebrate those 5 yrs. 🤍
You’re absolutely right! We will be changing it very soon!
The way how I feel the conversation at the beginning of this. I've been a corporate babe, where I code-switched for 15 years but had financial security. I'm now a creative and community babe, who doesn't have to code-switch but still dealing with the same problematic systems, with no security and low wages, it's really hard. I'm actually exhausted and feel in a space where I'm revaluating everything right now.
I'm UK based and I love the podcast. Have you thought of doing a patreon? I'd definitely join.
Me too
Yes! We’re on it 🫡

We welcome you in NYC! Come thruuuuuu. MARK IT ON THE WALL,
Dolls, loving the podcast so far, but only halfway through. Very interesting. I'm a white transwoman (living in Australia, originally English). So nice to hear you say that you look out for us trans-people. Thank you!! It's funny, I have had a completely different experience in coming out as trans (9 months ago) in terms of the hierarchy. And I've thought about this a LOT. But maybe we are seeing this from a completely different point of view or defining hierarchy differently. I feel that within the (shall we say) queer community, that transwomen are the most revered. In a sense, we are the queerest of the queer. There would not be an evening that I go to a club, when I wouldn't receive 20, 30, 50 compliments on my appearance, my flamboyance, on just being authentically me. I also feel that the BIPOC transwomen are very well respected, whereas some of the Asian transwomen (who are stunning), not so much and indeed, often just seen as hookers. Indeed, we always get in to clubs for free, jump the queue and sometimes get free drinks. Outside of the queer community, I've also had no problems from the general public. If I go into the office and walk around the city at lunchtime (as a 50 y.o non-passing transwoman), I will have strangers come up to me and tell me that they love my make-up, or that they are so jealous that I can wear a dress like that, or ask how I can walk in those heels? I don't know of any other members of the queer community that get so much validation for just being who they are... So, I don't see us as being at the bottom of the hierarchy.
Anyway, just my personal experience from my city in Australia... going to get back to listening to the rest of the podcast now!!

No one talks about the emotional guilt and pressure of standing on business 😔 it's not easy but we all have financial responsibilities and we owe it to ourselves to set those boundaries
You guys should make a patreon
