I picked one up. It’s nice to keep in the car to jot down phone numbers and stuff. It reminds me of the old storage tube CRT monitor I used to use years ago. Both store the green image on the screen using no RAM, and they both flash to erase the whole image.
Chris, you've gotta stay on top of this one. I would be so willing to get it when they have it usb capable for the MAC. Imagine the big gain for those of use in school who do notes on Circus Ponies or Microsoft notes! My biggest problem with current pads is LAG! From your vid, it doesn't seem to have lag!!!!!
This is an extremely unique product. I can't wait until you can erase parts of the board, and not the whole thing, and sync to a computer. That would be amazing!
One of it's selling points was its lack of glass, but I think I'd buy one if it came with a glass screen, just for the classiness. It also needs something to hold the stylus.
The Reese's stuff is there because they are a sponsor of the expo. They're a hit because they age giving away free bags of candy. Looks like they are also giving people space to shoot vid. I went to Kent State University in the late 80s and early 90s and they had a LCD research institute there even back then. Cool to see their research paying off. This is a killer ap. Between boards for school and drawing (they could make different screens- lined or graph) and work, it's a great concept.
This is just the Magna Doodle, but with an erase button; it uses a small amount of electricity to create a magnetic field with erases everything you wrote. 40 bucks is not that cheap, it's a good price I think.
He forgot to ask, until the end, if the image can be saved as a jpg or downloaded. Or do you just put it in a scanner and scan the screen into jpg. Brookstone had something like this, last year, I believe. Nice idea though.
@Gmc42082 Shit I forgot about those things. Damn I just remembered a half a dozen family road trips in the back seat of the station wagon with my sister.
@connormcwood2 the old toy of course, they would remember it to and reminisce about it. that and its a simple way to do the same thing. Unless this new gadget was wireless, its basically has no more use than my old childhood toy!. :)
there was a 99 cent toy i had as a kid that did the same thing ..basically, it was just a piece of black cardboard with a translucent plastic sheet over it, you wrote on it with a plastic pen, then lifted the plastic sheet to erase it! that and no electricity. THUMBS UP I YOU KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT!
@rushrules1968 i think they still make them too, only they suck now, they are all florescent colors, and its all one solid piece of plastic. that and they are not 99 cents anymore! :)
@MetalMonkeyStudios : macs dont have LED screens, they r LCD but have an LED back light, its a common misconception that the screen is LED, but actually the screen is actually and LCD but it just has an LED back light. Most companies dont mention this, just too fool customers.
that is fucking Awesome this is finally the future of paper!!!! w000t!!! bout bloody time!!! in a few years I when its perfected this will be like a 5 dollar item and you would buy this instead of a paper pad.
looks neat but if you can't save notes or erase less than the entire page at this point it seems totally useless. I remember using personal chalkboards and dry erase boards in school and it was mostly gimmicky and unnecessary. Okay class hold up your boards and show your work. We still needed to be able to erase only parts of the board though. Once they produce the ability to save pages and erase with an eraser stylus or something that would be a pretty nice thing to have on the fridge door.
Pretty Neat suck you have to erase the entire image but I think the next version will be much better.. I really think this is neat. I can see alot of applications for this.
Dude...I'm in high school. And when I get kids and they go into high school, they are gonna use these instead of the annoying binders i have to use. Eventually teachers will be able to post documents on a site or something and it will be uploaded to the board like they just gave you a homework or something.
how can people compare this to an iPad, they're COMPLETELY different! this is incredible!!!
thanks chris for telling me about the reeses minis because i got some for my birthday
I think this will be best used and really show off its best colours on whiteboards.
I picked one up. It’s nice to keep in the car to jot down phone numbers and stuff. It reminds me of the old storage tube CRT monitor I used to use years ago. Both store the green image on the screen using no RAM, and they both flash to erase the whole image.
DO WANT!!! Will definitely get one for school after they add the save feature
he was super happy to see that
im buying this for college this year!
This is awesome. I want the erase feature though.
I want 5 of those!
I liked how Chris felt how light it was after he was already holding it for 10 minutes
Oh I saw one of these in a store in Atlantic City in Caesars palace boardwalk or something. It was pretty fun.
This is AWESOME!
@pkerry12 Yeh but they will need to have a save page feature. SO you could scribe and then move to the next page without losing data.

I'm gonna wait till september/october. Saving option would make this a perfect notepad.
This is an extremely unique product. I can't wait until you can erase parts of the board, and not the whole thing, and sync to a computer. That would be amazing!
I seen that at brookstone
for taking notes in class it would be great if you could have a template with ruled lines. that would be AWESOME!!!
One of it's selling points was its lack of glass, but I think I'd buy one if it came with a glass screen, just for the classiness. It also needs something to hold the stylus.
I think I know what I want for Christmas next year...
I love how he just grabbed the board and threw it on the floor

had one of those when i was 6, it was like a quid from some toy shop
nice one chris
aw man! that seemes awesome! im going to get one eventually. when they get the saving feature in
it reminds me of a toy i had that when i was younger that used a magnetic pen to draw on the surface.
i saw it at brookstone
@anonomys246 its not supposed to, its purely a writing/drawing tablet.
DAMNIT this is a good product!
looks cool
I just bought mine cant wait to get it in my hands....i love how chris cuts him off a whole bunch of times hahaha
When they make one with save feature, i'm buying one. notes FTW.
When is it coming to the UK?
Could be the next knee pad for aviation.
If they made this A4 sized with memory and an easy way of accessing past notes, then this would be very useful for college.
Seems kind of cool
Was at brookstone but I had to pass for $40. If it was still 30 I might have gone for it. Seeing it again makes me want it.
That's what she said
Look at Chrises face at 01:34 ! He was like : Hey man don't touch my laptop!
thinkgeek has this!
This is just the Magna Doodle, but with an erase button; it uses a small amount of electricity to create a magnetic field with erases everything you wrote.

Salesman: "Like if you push on this..."

THAT IS ACTUALLY FUCKING AWESOME!
hahah its funny how the guy says for the kids in school " if they loose their stylus, they always have a finger" lol! @ 5:17
@Gmc42082 Shit I forgot about those things. Damn I just remembered a half a dozen family road trips in the back seat of the station wagon with my sister.

i have seen a thing like this 25 years ago
thing is when you disconnected thepower it would lose it picture
@connormcwood2 the old toy of course, they would remember it to and reminisce about it. that and its a simple way to do the same thing. Unless this new gadget was wireless, its basically has no more use than my old childhood toy!. :)
LOL "I want to open it right away...Yay!"

I'll have to check this out once it enables saving :3
I want 50,000 of these.
@nicholapple a techgasm??? :O
Would like.
@TheEpisteme cool!, and the more i think about it i do remember them as magnets for fridges, maybe they just lost popularity for new tech. :)
"love this damn thing" HAHA! Looks cool!
@crammage "Etch-a-sketch"
there was a 99 cent toy i had as a kid that did the same thing ..basically, it was just a piece of black cardboard with a translucent plastic sheet over it, you wrote on it with a plastic pen, then lifted the plastic sheet to erase it! that and no electricity. Can u change to real text?
whats reece's ?
why not put a small solar panel thing on it ( like one on a calculator) , so that it has far more than 50k erases?
comparing this to an ipad is like comparing paper to a computer, its not even in the same fucking category.
the video keeps stopping at 0:47 refreshed it a million times :(
