    The reason most regulators are in an easy location, is to provide better cooling. When the fins can get air flow, as when they are on the outer perimeter and can get circulation of cool air, they dissipate heat better and resist failure.

      Good point, and very true.

    I changed out my stator and flywheel and bought a brand new battery. The battery is still getting drained? Could this be why?

      @roaddirttv  3 года назад

      Not saying it’s the issue, but certainly could be a factor.

      @@roaddirttv I changed out the regulator and I've been riding most of the day with a good charged battery woohoo lol so the regulator was the problem

    What were the symptoms before you fixed it? My starter clicks but doesn’t turn the engine over? Could it be the rectifier?

    • @roaddirttv
      @roaddirttv  2 года назад +1

      Been gone awhile now, but for me, it was a process of elimination, from the battery, alternator, etc. Lengthy process, to get to a rectifier failure. Once discovered, was an easy and relatively affordable fix.

      @@roaddirttv what were the symptoms leading to the repair?

    • @roaddirttv
      @roaddirttv  2 года назад

      @@stanza77 it’s been so long now since the bike was fixed and sold, I scarcely remember the symptoms. Seems like dimly lit headlights, intermittent loss of power, cutting off, stuff like that.

      @brad3201 Год назад +1

      Some symptoms I had were the headlights getting very dim, hard to start the bike, the gage needles would drop to zero then jump back up intermittently, and the high beam LED on the dash would almost go dark when the turn signal was blinking. This is a very common issue on these older SV650s

    so is this why my bike when im on freeway and im going about 60 to 70 out of no reason turns off???

    • @roaddirttv
      @roaddirttv  3 года назад

      Could certainly be a factor, in our limited experience,

    Where would be a good place to find a new affordable regulator?

    • @roaddirttv
      @roaddirttv  2 года назад

      If you go through an authorized Suzuki dealership, you’ll pay through the nose for an OEM brand new part, which of course is guaranteed to work. You can surf online like we did, snag one from some Amazon or eBay salvage shop, or a local bike salvage yard, if you can find one. We’ve actually used all three methods, and for the most part haven’t been burned.

      Rick's Motorsports Electrics is good. I've dealt with them before. They have very good customer service and I think that their electronics & attention to detail beats OEM
