James Carter is probably the greatest living saxophonist today in large part because he knows the history of the music. He is perfectly capable of playing bebop, hard-bop, post-bop, classical and free Jazz and sometimes blending all of them into one tune when he feels like it. He's also highly entertaining to watch. He's got a style all his own and he always looks like he is having so much fun on stage. James is also a very humble, very approachable artist. His charm shines through. Anyone can see that just by watching him perform. He's simply a great musician and a great man.

He's the best at versatility of sound.. the variety of tone from this man's sax is insane.. now using effects as well on top of everything else he can do. Chris Potter and Joshua Redman are different players and incredible but again, variety of expression he's the the king all so well placed. it's incredible

Hes doing some things with that Sax that no else can do...and Mr. Carter's soprano sax is such a treat also . He knows his audience and gives them exactly what they need . Gotta listen to this again. Thanks for the great upload.
