- I originally filmed this video in February but lost track of the project file when replacing my old Hard Drive, I finally found it a couple days ago and decided to finish this off once and for all.

Mate, you've inspired me to restore mine even though I just bought a brand new 2020 Macbook Pro.
They make great secondary notebooks. If your main laptop is ever in for repair or something of the sort. My 15” 2012 is going to be dropped off for a OEM battery replacement next week, so I’ll have this guy to keep my going :)

5 month? You've probably order it during the two weeks of Covid-19 lockdown. It happened to me too when I order stuff from AliExpress except that took 3 months to deliver to my house. Anyways, nice work on that MacBook!
Nah, I actually ordered them back in 2017! Not sure why it took so long to arrive. But at least they came eventually lol.

I used this same type of laptop and still have it.
High Sierra doesn't require Metal and supports 32 bits apps.
Mojave requires metals but still supports 32 bits apps.
Catalina drops 32 bits apps.
Unfortunately, Dosdude's Mojave patcher breaks Chrome and Discord for NVIDIA 9000 and 300 series cards, and Catalina patcher will make some apps crash on launch...
Catalina don´t make sens. Option A you use High sierra the last os don´t need metal and can run old 32 bit Programms. or option b, a modern system like Monterey und newer. you can run modern low end apps und you have security updates and new Feature (not all work on old Hardware).
@@terabyte100 Catalina makes sense because Big Sur and newer use so much more CPU, the Core 2 Duo would struggle quite badly.
You can’t beat old MacBooks. They are workhorses and essentially never break- unless you take a hammer to them or something. My grandma had one of these my cousin used to use, but it had a bulging battery and one of my family members took it to the trash when the Apple store guy told them it was a fire hazard. The same apple store guy also took the 2009 MBP I had picked up from a friend but had no charging cable (which costed like $70-$100). Those damn Apple store guys always try to still old MacBooks. I wonder what they do with them 😅

About Catalina... Is it worth it? Whats about perfomance?
Performance in Catalina is about the same as 10.12/10.13 so not amazing but pretty acceptable. As long as you have 6 or more GB of RAM.
I own same model I might use it for music production or travel computer
Is your superdrive working on Catalina ? Mine was not working when i installed Catalina , it got the dvd but nothing more ... not even ejecting it
what do you currently use to edit, shoot and upload your videos and what editing software do you use
The camera I used is a Panasonic LUMIX G7, and I edit in Premiere Pro.

For my videos I use, Lenovo Ideapad 320s, Logitech Microphone for occasional voiceovers, my camera is a Crosstour CT9000 4k action cam and I edit with Shotcut
TEch WIse 2203 I mainly edit on my PC, which has a 7700k and 980TI, but I have a MacBook Pro for doing some light editing on the side,
@@Pendleton115 I use my Lenovo Ideapad 320s for all my editing although I need to upgrade as it only has a dual-core 2.3ghz Pentium 4415U and integrated intel had 610 graphics and 4gb ram
